Z420 Workstation read do not all RAM
Hi all
I have an Intel Xeon Z420 E5-1620, and trying to increase the ram of 4 GB to 8 GB. I bought two sticks of compatible 4 GB of RAM and used to replace the two sticks of 2 GB of RAM that came with the computer. The problem is that my computer only reads about 4 GB. I went to msconfig and made sure the maximum memory was 0, but I don't know what else to try. If there is a BIOS update that will fix it, would someone please send me the link? Otherwise, I'm stumped.
Here is the RAM in case it is useful:
https://www.Amazon.com/GP/product/B006YG89Q6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&PSC=1
Thanks in advance.
This model requires a specific version called PC3-12800E
Here's a example of this module RAM.

flags of the 23 all-in-one read is not all of the improved memory
Recently, I upgraded my 23 Pavilion all in one model 23-12131 with 16 GB of Ram.
When I turned on the computer back I got, it's a black screen and a tone continues.
I went back and re-inserted the stick 4 GB supplied with the machine to make sure that I didn't change something and it came OK.
Then, I let the 4 level primary and inserted 8 Gb GB secondary. Computer came on but recognized only 4 GB,.
Then I tried just the 8Gb at the primary level in itself. Computer is entered correctly and recognized 8 Gb.
I then inserted the second stick of 8 GB in the secondary school and the other stick 8 GB of on primary level and recognized only computer 8 GB. Should have recognized all the 16 GB inserted
Finally, I inserted the 8 Gb in the primary and the original 4 GB in teaching secondary, is come computer, but only recognized the 8GB instead of 12 GB
Conclusion. Computer will only recognize 8 GB. Card say that it will recognize 16 GB. What should I do?
Windows 64-bit operating system 8.1
Not quite sure how I did this, but finally managed to access the Bios, fast finger F10 at startup... Did not have any change simply read the tab system 16 GB has been installed. You leave, does not save any changes, Brough machine upwards and 'voila' I don't read 16 GB of Ram. Maybe I just had to tickle the bios or something. For anyone else having similar problems, give it a try...
Problem solved for now

DVD RW drive (e :)) don't read do not all disks)
I have a Dell Studio Windows Vista. The DVD RW drive (e :)) does not.) Regardless of the type of disc that I put in, my DVD player does not recognize. When I go to 'My Computer' to open the disc manually, a message appears telling me to insert a disc, even if it is already inside. In addition, when this message appears, it ejects the disc I have here. I did everything. My computer is up to date. I went to the only Device Manager update my CD/DVD drive and it is already up to date. I don't know what to do from here.

Optical drive for XPS 17 (L702X) read is not all disks
I have recently reinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit, after that my HARD drive has failed. After reinstalling on a SSD my optical drive is having problems recognizing discs.
- Audio CDs are readable
- Burned data discs are readable
- An a printer installation disc is recognized, but the drive seemed too hard trying to read the disc
- Set of diskettes (Starcraft 1 & 2) are all two not recognized at all
- DVD is not recognized at all the
- Blu Rays are not recognized at all the
This player has no analysis of my Dell of the reader. It doesn't have the 'Linear CD compare Test read' after that everything else in the way of a data CD was necessary for. The 'Audio CD test' it, but it has never acknowledged any of the DVD after that. The same thing happened with Blu Rays.
Windows says I updated all the drivers required. When I go into Device Manager identifies the optical drive as a "CD-ROM/DVD-ROM readers." If I ask the Device Manager to search for updates for the driver it says I have the latest version "Drive of CD-ROM."
I also went to the Dell support Web site and entered my serial number. I tried to update the firmware on the drive (4 firmware updates are displayed under "Removable storage" and according to me, it says I already have the latest version.
This computer was delivered at Dell with PowerDVD, I do not have the reinstallation. I have VLC, I could play DVDs. I really hope that getting the right software is not easy, my quick fix. I feel really stupid (but grateful that you pointed out there!)
I'm 'Ok' when it comes to work on my machine, but I'm still learning a lot. These are my symptoms and what I tried. Thank you very much for your time and I look forward to hearing from someone. Thank you once again!

I use M17X bought in September 09, 4 years of good performance in trouble with SATA and ATA HDs. After some time tried to fix and find materials and parts always treated with Bios Core Secure of the system or has been changed. I'm in the same situation as yours. Here what you need to do to test and verify the performed pieces, then ask media with your serial number, specifications and part numbers.
1. use Bios to identify the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM optical part still detected with part numbers or not.
2. diagnosis with CD Sources
These measures will help to ensure that your readers optical and material always go with it and protected by the system or has been modified.
I had the same problem since 2012, later than some of my friends using different models and systems such as M18X, M15X asked and showed that they haved problems with this problem of discs discs too.
Good luck!

Lightroom 3 read do not all images
I have a folder containing 36 images, but LR can only read an image in this folder. I tried to import these without change?
Then, they must be in the catalog, referenced from where ever the import process "Added" or "Inappropriate" them (note the difference).
I suspect you have the library opened with a folder or a selected Collection. Make sure you select all of the Photos (or something else - I don't have the user from Lr interface in front of me right now)
As suggested in another thread, you can always search for images in the library. Or you can go down in the records if you know where they have been imported from.

Hello
A part of the main memory is shared by the graphics card!
It runs automatically, and you cannot control it.Simply said; Win 7 recognized the full RAM, but a part of the main RAM has been assigned to the memory of the graphics card.
Check DirectX usign the dxdiag command. I think you'll see the full 4 GB of RAM it.

I installed K-Lite Codec pack, but it did not help.
Hi dragon52s
This can also occur if the audio drivers on the computer have been corrupted.
- Use Windows Update or access the sound device manufacturer's Web site to see if an updated driver is available.
- Use Device Manager to check the status of your audio device.
1. click on Start, right-click computerand then click Manage.
2. in the left pane, click Device Manager.
3. in the pane, expand sound, video and game controllersand then find the name of your audio device.
4. do one of the following:
· If your audio device is listed, but the icon has a red 'X', the device has been disabled. To activate the device, right-click the icon, and then click Activate.
· If your audio device is not listed in the right pane, expand other devices. If the Multimedia Audio Controller appears in the list, right-click on the icon and then click Update driver software. Follow the on-screen instructions to find and install the driver software.
If you are not able to find and install the correct driver software, go to the Web site of your computer or the manufacturer of your sound device manufacturer for assistance.
- If you do not have a sound device installed on your computer, install an audio device and then try to play the file again. For more details, go to your computer manufacturer or sound device manufacturer's Web site.
- If you try to play a file on the Internet, try again later. The server may be temporarily unavailable or there could be a network problem.
- If you try to play an MP3 file that contains compressed ID3 headers, make a copy of the file and then use an ID3 tag non - editing program Microsoft to remove or reset the file's ID3 headers.
The ID3 header is a part of the file that stores the album information of the song (for example, the song name, artist name, album name and kind). This information is sometimes called tag. After you remove the headers ID3, Windows Media Player should be able to play MP3 files.

Hey, I just reinstalled Win7 on my computer and for some reason any, it uses not all of my RAM. For example, in system properties it says 2 GB of RAM (1.75 GB usable) ideas?
p.s. I installed 32 and 64-bit versions, but I know that shouldn't matter with only 2 GB of RAM.
Your computer is not designed for Windows 7. You can add RAM.
