Not all usable RAM

Hey, I just reinstalled Win7 on my computer and for some reason any, it uses not all of my RAM. For example, in system properties it says 2 GB of RAM (1.75 GB usable) ideas?

p.s. I installed 32 and 64-bit versions, but I know that shouldn't matter with only 2 GB of RAM.

Your computer is not designed for Windows 7. You can add RAM.
http://support.Acer.com/acerpanam/desktop/0000/Acer/AspireM3100/AspireM3100sp2.shtml

Most computers will have an allocation for the reserved equipment. So with 4 GB installed RAM it is common to see only 2.8 to 3.2 GB usable. An allowance to graphics is common.

    It is really not enough to worry.

    You also have the virtual memory in the form of a pagefile for the operating system to use.

    Which will normally, unless you're like me and, somewhere in the neighborhood changing dynamically from 10 to 15% of your available disk space.

    You can always switch to 16 GB.

    You have a RAM failure.

    The Mac Pro features help Error correction Code RAM with hardware integrated with its Xeon processor. The Mac Pro 1.1 uses FBDIMM who get hot and do not have a long life expectancy. Work for 7-8 months does not work tomorrow.

    The error correction is used aggressively at the start, and all DIMM found to have errors during the Power-On Self Test brief execution have their slots declared 'empty '. This isn't an anomaly, these modules DIMM turns out to be BAD.

  • Pavilion 15-p101nm: using all the RAM

    I have 4 GB of RAM, 3.44 alone can be used by OS and etc, another 500 MB are RESERVED by GPU and CANNOT be used for other programs. When I check the properties and see "RAM installed," he said "4 GB (3.44 GB usable). Also when I run the Task Manager and look for physical use of Mem I see clearly that all usable memory is exactly 3.44 GB. So I want to somehow disable GPU on board and make all the usable memory, but do not know how... Actually I disabled it, but everything is still the same...

    You can't just. On AMD a series it's an APU... the video tracks integrated into the processor itself and the switchable dedicated card is based on the embedded video. So you can't just use 100% of the system memory for Windows tasks. Some will be used by the video system.

  • iMac is not using available RAM

    My 2010 27 "iMac (running Capitan) use not all of the available memory. I have 8 GB and up until 1 month ago it used every last bit of RAM (as it should). However, since then he has been leaving 1, 5-2 GB of free throughout the day, no matter what I do, and my understanding of the operating system, it's that I should * not * take this as a good sign. Adds that the fact that I have reason to believe that my HARD drive is almost its disappearance and I'm not thrilled on the additional workload, it is probably ignoring manipulation of programs available RAM (and Yes, they've all been gloomy at the end).

    I know there are a lot of intel I leave so please ask away.

    Thank you

    Ivan

    OS X will use as much or as little RAM as it should.  Having RAM unused is not a problem in and of itself. It simply means that the Mac does not require that it based on the workload, it is put under currently.

    There is really no reason to be alarmed of the it. Especially if the pressure indicator of memory in the activity monitor application is displayed in green. Really, there is no way to force the OS X to use up RAM.

    If your hard drive is questions and slow down things, which should have no impact on the use of the RAM at all.

    You might want to think about a new hard drive, however.

  • Tecra A8 - not all memory is available

    Hello

    I've recently updated my laptop 4 GB unfortunately same performance of 64-bit (Windows Server 2008 x 64) operating system not all memory is available (only 3318 MB).

    After some research, I discovered that this high memory of 3318-4000 MB is reserved for other devices such as cards PCI interface and graphics etc.

    This is to support the 32 bit OS that can only address the memory in this range.
    This makes the + 682 MB of my memory upgrade the invisible state.

    Usually the Bios supports a feature called memory h_o_l_e * remapping that moves the address space reserved which precedes him the physical memory installed on the machine charging the full memory installed to be accessible on the 64 bit OS.

    Please can you release a BIOS update that supports h_o_l_e * remapping memory or I would like to know if there is another way to get around this?

    Thank you
    * Ps I appologise but I had to change the word h_o_l_e to override this error "your message contains profanity or inappropriate language.

    Hi mate

    Maybe you should check this doc:
    + The requirements for the use of 4 GB of main memory.
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB82022E0000R01.htm

    Here you will find information which is necessary to access the full 4 GB of RAM.
    -The chipset must support 8 GB of address space.
    -The processor must support 64-bit mode instruction set
    -The BIOS must support the memory remapping feature.
    -A 64 bit version of the Windows operating system is necessary.

    If one of these components doesn t give the RAM of 4 GB capacity then your laptop won't recognize 4 GB RAM but only 3.2 GB.

  • HP 500 b MT: usable ram 3 of 4 concerts

    Hello, I've searched for the last few days how to solve this problem and I can't find a solution. I tried on different forums and none of the solutions have helped me so far.

    I use a Windows 7 Pro 32 bit on a HP 500 (b) with the exception of the video card and the extra ram, I bought everything else is original. When I bought the RAM (2 GB) and installed, he'd let me use only 1, is that I have 3 usable 4 Gigs.

    I tried the Msconfig tool, maximum memory is checked.

    I tried to change in the BIOS settings, but it is not available as an option in the BIOS settings. In any case, the settings of the BIOS is recognizing 2 2 GB modules each.

    I have the latest BIOS driver, 6.05.

    The BIOS is set to the video source recognized by default on the PCIe slot, which is what I have.

    I feel that this reserved memory is for the original dedicated video card came with the PC, but I don't have it anymore.

    I've read a number or discussions on the forums on PAE and such but I'm really not at such a level of advanced knowledge. I'm just an irritable guy.

    Do you have other ideas about how I can fix this?

    I know that I can run up to 4 GB on 32 bit OS version, this is why I am not a bigger RAM and I do not expect to get the full 4 GB but I have read some people have up to only 6 MB of memory dedicated. I'd settle for much less than that, but 1 full Gig seems like a lot of memory waste. This is 25% of the capacity of the machine I see.

    Little help please?

    Thank you!

  • Windows XP can be updated to use all the RAM on a PC?

    Hi all

    I have a question that concerns me for centuries. Then Windows XP updated so that it can use all the RAM on a PC? The reason why I ask this is that I find a bit strange that my custom PC has a total of 8GBs of RAM but XP only can use a 2.96GBs total or 3GBs if I use one of my two video cards (currently using a GPU SLI configuration). So is one such update for XP or I'd be better off getting Win7 or Win8 when it comes out?

    If I'm not mistaken, you need a 64-bit o/s (hardware Inc.) to address more than 4 GB.

    I hope this helps.

  • HP probook 450 GB usable RAM

    Hello

    I have a HP probook 450 GO with Windows 7 pro 64-bit installed.

    The laptop has 4 GB of RAM installed, however, when I check this, right-click on 'Computer' then go to 'Properties', it shows 4 GB installed, but only 3.85 GB usable.

    Someone has any ideas why this is not displayed as 4 GB usable?

    Thank you

    If the system has integrated chipset graphics, part of memory is allocated to the integrated graphics chip and the rest is usable RAM.

    Hardware components often use some of the memory (RAM) of your internal system for themselves. For example, while a graphics (GPU) card comes with its own RAM, integrated graphics (also called integrated graphics card) uses part of your RAM as video memory.

    Your computer may also be allocating part of your RAM to other materials, such as your network hardware.

    To determine how much of your RAM is reserved for material and how much is usable by Windows, you can use the window system mentioned above. The total amount of RAM can be used is displayed next to the total amount of memory that Windows can see. In the screenshot below, 0,1 GB of RAM is reserved for materials.

  • I have 2 versions of windows vista running on my computer. One is before it crashed and it took all the RAM (Ram)

    I can't clean the discs because I can't load any programs because the memory has faded.  So I can not put a page of my computer desktop or download programs, I need to get my images that I have on the other program running.  I can't open one of these programs because I don't have the authorization even if I was always the user and administrator.  What I would do.  Can I add more memory Ram?  Can I remove the old stuff that I can't open anyway.  DLLs etc.  I downloaded vista 2pr, but it does not work.

    Hello

    Here is the information from your other question here about it:

    "I can't collect any information of my system information page."  When I connect I get redirected to a page that asks me what version of vista I want to open.  One is Microsoft vista and the other is windows vista.  The Microsoft is the only one that works. The other takes me a blank page. »

    "I have 2 versions of windows vista running on my computer. One is before it crashed and it took all the RAM (Ram).

    I suggest that you save your data and reinstall the operating system properly.

    There are several methods to reinstall Vista.

    See what methos works for you.

    There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

    You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

    They should do this for a small fee.

    To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

    You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

    How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

    "How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

    And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

    The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

    Ask them to the proper key sequence.

    And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.

    Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.

    If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks.

    Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

    If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

    You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

    Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

    And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

    Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

    "How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

    And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

    And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

    Need help with windows defender. all my files folders pictures everythiing disappeared and I find myself with this black screen and it is not all good: o)

    I don't know why vista windows no longer charge, or when the files and folders disappeared

    How Windows Defender is on this problem?

    Follow these steps to try to solve your problems of boot.

    Restore point:

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html
    Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
    NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use:
    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/
    ISO Burner:http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
    It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
    Data recovery:
    1. slave of your hard drive in another computer and read/save your data out there.
    2. put your Hard drive in a USB hard drive case, plug it into another computer and read/save from there.
    3 Alternatively, use Knoppix Live CD to recover data:
    http://www.Knopper.NET/Knoppix/index-en.html
    Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm

    Download the Vista software from the link above.

    After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.

    Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.

    Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.

    Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

    When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.

    Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.

    Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).

    Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.
