Z820 - on-site service of HP for a renewed system of HP Preferred Partner?

My Z820 is giving headaches to start more (Ref.: t5/Workstations-z-series-xw-series/Z820-BIOS-updated-to-v2-55-cannot-boot-or-install-Windows-7/td-p...).

I've exhausted all recovery options I could think.

I currently plan to contact HP for a verification of the system and/or repair.

This system was bought by the company, I work from a supplier 'HP Preferred Partner' in November 2012. It was renovated by the provider with the original HP components.

I checked the warranty on:

http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/weInput?CC=NL & destPage = weInput & LC = NL & tmp_docname =

I used the SN & SKU numbers I've seen in HP Vision diagnostic & BIOS. According to this site, the guarantee runs until June 2015. I'm not quite sure if this warranty is valid for my refurbished workstation...

This system is always able to HP service (on-site)?

Greetings,

Dries

Yes, you still have warranty complete just on-site, you can call, give them the serial number and make them go out and replace the MB.

Don't mention even the word "renovated" as it has nothing to do with a faulty machine.

I guess the first problem I have is that I came across this forum to get an answer to a question from windows 7, and all I can see are XP and Vista of questions and answers.  It's great, but I have the update above installed on Vista (Ultimate x 64).  I can't seem to get installed it on Windows 7 Professional.  When I stopped, he told me do not turn off the computer, because it is to install an update.  But then the update is back.

TIP: Read the Symptoms section of http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973688.

Note that KB973688 is NOT a security update.

    (1) do you have an installed application that "uses Microsoft XML Core Services (MSXML) to process XHTML files" and (2) that "generates a lot of requests when it tries to retrieve well known from the definition of the Type of Document (DTD) from a World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web server files" and (3) to "these redundant retrieval requests cause the W3C Server block requests DTD?

If you can't answer YES to all three of these conditions, you do not need to install KB973688 and you can "hide"

    1. stop the automatic updates service:

Start > Right click on run , and then select run as administrator > services.msc (type) > [OK]
Double-click automatic updates > click stop
(Stopping the service will take a moment)

2 remove the contents of the download folder:

Start > Right click on run , and then select run as administrator >
    (type or copy/paste) %windir%\SoftwareDistribution > [OK]
Open the download folder and delete its content
    Close the window.

3 start | Control Panel | System maintenance and (if you use Classic view, skip this step). Windows Update: Select the installed updates: right click on the Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB973688) | Click hide update | Confirm the prompt UAC (User Account Control), if any, & OK your way out.

    4. start the automatic updates service:

Start > Right click on run , and then select run as administrator > services.msc (type) > [OK]
Double-click automatic updates > click Start
(Stopping the service will take a moment)

    =====================================
To restore/show updates in Win7: Start | Control Panel | System maintenance and (if you use Classic view, skip this step) | Windows Update | Restore hidden updates: Find and select the update you want to install. Click restore. You can now select once again it and install through the normal process.

  • Update for Windows Vista Service Pack 2 for x 64 systems (KB948465) _

Whenever I try to update Vista Svc Pack2, she says that it has completed successfully. When restarting the laptop he spends 1 out of 3 in which the 1 configuration ends then start the 2nd and gets 1%, it restarts again and comes back with an error message. I have to shut down the computer and then the computer performs a check to boot. Before you try to download the Pack of Svc 2, I have no questions, now my taskbar in the taskbar volume goes down by itself, it does not play any disk, cannot download attachments (adobe), among other things. According to me, trying to download Service Pack 2, it has corrupted systems as if it has a virus. Please can someone help me with this, it's very annoying.

Please answer questions following diagnosis by number in your next reply (no need to quote this post):

    1. is Vista SP1 is installed?

    2. what application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription?  What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?

3A give Norton or McAfee application already installed on the computer?

    4. do you have a Norton or McAfee free trial come preinstalled on the computer when you bought it? (No matter if you have never used or activated).

  • Windows Vista Service Pack 2 for update (KB948465) systems focus on x 64

    Hi all:

For several weeks, I get a daily reminder to install the update "Windows Vista Service Pack 2 for x 64-based systems (KB948465)", but whenever I try to install it, it ends up by default, which gives 80246007 error code. What happened probably 30 times. It's driving me crazy, and at this point, I would like to know if it is still necessary to have. If this is the case, how can I get to install correctly? If this isn't the case, I can't the notification go away?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Jejali_67,

Sorry that the problem still persists!

You can try to unregister and re-register Windows install and check if you are able to perform updates.

To unregister and re-register the windows installer

    1. exit all Windows programs.

    2. click on start, type run in the search box and then press ENTER, type msiexec / unregister in the Open box and then click OK.

    3. click on start, type run in the start search box and then press ENTER, type msiexec/regserver in the Open box, and then click OK.

    4 restart your computer.

This should solve the problem and you will be able to perform the update of windows.

You can also see the link given below which talks about the same issue.

In addition, unrelated question. Does anyone know why my computer would always have an icon in the lower right shows a storage device mass that I did not and when nothing is plugged into ONE of my USB remove locations?

    Ralleny,
Regarding mass storage disks that appear, you have housing of memory card reader on your PC?  Usually they will appear like this.  I have a HP at home that has a Bay of 5 card reader to the front and I see the same type of items that you see. Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers
