  By default the quick mask preferences: color indicates areas masked, 50% opaque red.

  I open a file (background or base layer), I have no active selection and I press Q for QuickMask, or press the quick mask...

  I present QM - "Quick mask" mode in the file tab, my layer in the layers panel goes gray...

  .. but it's no red overlay.

  Yes - I can paint or fill to create one, but in this State QM will use a red full image overlay...

  I'm sure this used to be the case...

  As far as I know or that you remember old versions of photoshop, you always have an active selection before you enter the Quick Mask mode or no overlay is displayed because there is no mask created without a selection active.

  Of course, as you say, it can be created after entering the Quick Mask mode.

• Changes in Project Manager

  I am trying to check in a project for the first time since the upgrade to Premiere Pro 8.1 and have changed the parameters of the project manager.  Now, there is no option that will cut my project while retaining the original multimedia codecs of each file.  Why are us now stuck with transcoding everything which takes forever and translates alpha channels that are flattened and huge file sizes.  Is there a work around?  Thank you!

  Option trim in previous versions has been limited in formats that it supported (essentially a number of codecs QuickTime). Consolidate and Transcode, it will be made smart (like Trim) for any codec supported (see Smart Rendering in Premiere Pro CS6 (6.0.1 and later), & first Pro CC). If you are using a preset that matches your clips (which supports smart rendering), it will actually then cut these clips. Of course, if you use different types of clips which do not correspond to the preset then transcode or copy will participate.

  It is not ideal, but you can always keep the previous version of creation (for example: CC 7.2.2) and CC 2014 8.2 installed on your system, so that you could take advantage of the 7.2.2 trim option.

  I started using the latest Version of Acrobat Pro especially for reading PDF files.

  By coming to Mac and using their standard PDF reader, I usually change

  the color of marking very quickly-> I click!

  Now in Acrobat marking text seems to be not that easy... 3 clicks

  are neede to change color (which I do very often!)

  Is it possible, that I don't know yet, to change color quickly?

  Here's what I do:

  Tools > select Edit text and Images (it remains selected throughout) > highlight the text you want to change > select the color of the box of color (under format in the Toolbox).

  After that initial "created" all that you have to do is highlight the text and then select the color.

I need now to promote this change to our envirionments Test and Production. It seems that Enterprise Manager is configured to point to the development environment. How can I promote the changes.

  Depending on what you add in the quick search, you can try the option modify search CSI_OA_PROD_QUICK_SEARCH_ITEMS and modify the code for SearchBar.java. You may need to make necessary changes in load.

  The SGA Memorystructure is handled automatically by Oracle, if the SGA_TARGET initializationparameter is set. But nothing less you are able to configure the size of a memorystructure by yourself. Here is a good article on the optimization of the log buffer.
