1 TB HD internal on laptop WinVista Ultimate?

Dell Inspiron 1440 w / 500 GB HD currently (Seagate 9500325) 5400 RPM SATA.  4 GB of RAM, fwiw...  All MS updates apply including may ' 10 s.

Can I replace my Seagate 500 GB internal HD with a 1 TB hard drive? If so, what are my options?  If not, why or what I'm doing, if anything, tweet the system?  Open to switch to Win7

TIA!

Stupid Dell technical support. What a pity you got someone who knew nothing. I had a similar question recently when I wanted to be sure exactly how many records and what capacity a Dell server support and I got great help. Of course it wasn't the consumer division of Dell, but their help to small businesses, which tends to be much better. One thing the Dell technician told me is that if I put in a 2 TB drive and it does not, the BIOS or it wouldn't show it would show figures of crazy ability to the contrary - but that it would not damage the motherboard.

So I can not really tell you if a 1 TB drive would work in your system. I hate to tell you to buy a 1 TB laptop drive without being sure it would work. If I were you - and this is just my opinion, you mind - I let the 500 GB drive (which apparently works very well!) in the laptop and buy a 1 TB external drive or 2 instead. I'm sorry I can't give you a definitive answer.

    Thanks for your reply.

I don't think not laptop 2 TB drives are made with the rotation speed of 7200 RPM. They are all 5400. 7200 TPM is larger than 1 TB. But, to answer your question directly, you can use any 2.5 inch wide and 7mm or 9.5 mm thick hard drive SATA or SSD on the market. The physical dimensions of each of them are the same, that is the industry standard interchangeable. No compatibility or heating problems.

  • HP laptop - 14-ac107nl: is it possible to upgrade the processor, ram and storage internal HP laptop - 14-ac107nl?

The computer is very slow, and I just fill the MEM 28 GB? How can I upgrade RAM and MEM?

In the model of Celeron, you need memory (2 GB) is soldered to the motherboard and cannot be upgraded. If you wanted to make a better computer the only real choice is to replace the motherboard. There is the version with an included i5 processor. Storage is a MEMBER, and even with your model theoretically you can remove the MEM module and replace it with a hard SATA or SSD disk, but would require the purchase of new equipment to mount the drive.

See pages 38 and 39 of the manual here:

  • WinVista Ultimate x 64 with 'no sound '.

I have a laptop Dell Inspiron and the audio works fine... normally.  There are certain situations where I can't hear anything.  I have check the of device drivers and all shows as working properly.  When I'm on YouTube I can hear things.  It seems to be linked to an video clip, or audio in a Web clip.  I was on a site of training earlier today who has a video stream.  I have seen the video but no sound.  The sounds I hear coming through a headset or headphones (USB2)

Looks like a simple situation...  The research I've done don't seem to focus on what I need to do to solve the problem.  I ran the program MS Fixit, but he found nothing. He kept wanting to work with headphones that I have installed the runtime.  Therefore, I need to hear things like training videos not on YouTube.

  • Hard Sata internal drive, laptop

    Hello

I have a laptop Inspiron 9300, and recently my hard drive has been currupted and needed to be replaced. I used this as an opportunity to buy a hard drive with more space, I so bought a Toshiba 160 GB hard drive. However, I did my research and I didn't what I purchased was SATA, while my Inspiron uses IDE interface. My old Toshiba 80 GB hard drive attaches to a small pin, then that also attaches to the laptop. The spindle is designed to attach to the IDE interface. I was wondering, is there a similar pin that associates a SAT interface to my laptop (and funtion). What are my options at this point if I didn't return the drive? I thought to turn it into an external USB hard drive by purchasing a box $10 would not bad either and then boot from the USB drive whenever I start. Would this be possible?

  • HP laptop - 14-ac037tu: HP processor laptop upgrade - 14-ac037tu

Is it possible to upgrade the processor, ram and storage internal HP laptop - 14-ac037tu?

    Thank you

    Ahsan Anik

    Here are the specs:

    http://support.HP.com/ca-en/document/c04942982

You have an extremely low processor, 2 GB of RAM and a hard drive very slow so I see why you want to upgrade.

    Your repair manuals

p.37 displays the hard drive, 43 p. display the memory.

You can have up to 8 GB of RAM. It takes a single module, have run 2 gig module and install a 8 GB.

    8 GB (DDR3L-1600) 693374-005

    http://www.Amazon.com/Kingston-Technology-1600MHz-PC3-12800-KVR16LS11/DP/B00CQ35HBQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&QID=1463866034&SR=8-1&keywords=693374-005

The processors are welded on so not extensible without replacing the motherboard. Installation of 8 GB of RAM and an SSD would make a big difference, but the processor is going to hold you back without worrying. Technically the RAM and hard drive are not serviceable by the user, but if you follow the manual and do not damage anything, you should be OK.

  • Remote Desktop has stopped working suddenly Premium Ultimate

I used to be able to remote desktop to my laptop with Vista Home Premium on my desktop with Vista Ultimate. All of a sudden, it stopped working (March 09). I tried many steps of troubleshooting without success and I searched and searched online with no resolution. Help! I examined even the laptop to ultimate upgrade, but I seriously doubt that would correct the problem, since I should be able to remote desktop ON the ultimate machine (not in it, of course) and did so successfully for over a year... so far. I don't know what changed between yesterday and today, with the exception of Windows updates. No other software or hardware has been installed. The laptop has wireless and it works very well - I can access the Internet and the network with no problems at all.

Steps, I have taken/other info: (not necessarily in order - just write them as they come to me)
    1) reset all the workstations and the router (I have a 3rd computer which has XP also).
    (2) checked to make sure port 3389 is open on my router 2 and in the firewall (McAfee). Within McAfee, do ensure that the remote desktop program and service were allowed, both directions and on all the workstations. Also controlled canyouseeme.org to ensure that port 3389 is indeed open and he succeeded.
    (3) connection I tried with the firewall disabled on two workstations and always without success.
    (4) Made sure that on the host, the remote settings have been enabled and all users can connect, using any version of Windows. Also tried unchecking, reset and rechecked.
    (5) the user accounts on all workstations are directors.
    (6) the fact that the Terminal Server service has been started on the host. Tried them stopping and restarting.
    (7) tried ping - success in all directions by the two IP address and computer name.
    (8) network resources are available in all directions - I can see and access files shared all around.
    (9) installed all the Windows updates available. Reloaded later.
    (10) remote desktop from the laptop to the machine off XP is successful. Ultimate machine to XP is successful. From XP to ultimate is successful. The only one who does not work (and it's an important) is from the laptop to the machine by excellence. Argh!
    (11) even tried to restore the laptop provided the factory (tested - didn't work) and then through all Windows updates (test I went - never able to operate).
    (12) fact that Windows Firewall has been disabled on all workstations.
    (13) fact that network discovery, file sharing and public folder sharing is turned on.
    (14) RDP I tried with the name of the computer with the IP address.
What Miss me? The only thing I can think is that somehow one of Windows Update caused this problem, but my research online for someone else knows this at the same time me are coming short. So I'm completely confused and frustrated!
Thanks for reading my post, and I'd appreciate any help.
    Sally

I didn't need to post on the technet forum, because I have solved the problem. I decided to bite the bullet and just give my idea to try and hope for the best (created a first system restore point). The solution was so freakin ' easy... wonder why I couldn't find all the details on how to do...?

In any case; On the ultimate box (the one I am trying to remote desktop in), I opened the management console (mmc.exe) and add the Certificates snap, for the computer account, computer local. Double click on certificates, double click on the desktop folder remotely, double click on the Certificates folder and highlighted the certificate (there was only one, with the name of the computer as the title) and removed (first of all, I copied and put it in another folder, just in case where).

This solves completely the whole issue and workaround is no longer necessary.

I hope this helps someone else.

  • EliteBook 8470w display (2 external + 1 internal) Configuration

    Hello everyone!

I use a 8470w with Windows 8 Pro EliteBook and the latest drivers on the HP site. I do not use any docking station, but an over-pants AMD graphics card.

I know that the laptop can support up to five screens, when you use a docking station. But I want to just use a monitor to the VGA port, a screen on the DP and the display internal for laptop.

When I try to set up a desktop extended across all three screens (everyone gets recognized by the laptop), Windows tells me that it is an invalid configuration. I have to turn off an external display to use the construction in the screen.

How can I use the screen of laptop computers and two external screens on VGA and DP together?

And what kind of Port, Docking-Station/displays are generally supported by the EliteBook 8470w?
