10 ThinkPad dock HDMI monitor DVI problem

ThinkPad 10 when connected via the port HDMI micro directly to a Dell 2007FP monitor via DVI it is

connection is working normally, but when the monitor is connected using the HDMI tablet dock port the

Tablet seems to connect with the monitor, but the screen goes black.

Connecting the dock the tablet to a TV via HDMI to HDMI works ok.

Anyone knows a solution or having this problem? What is a defective dock?

I have now successfully connected 10 Thinkpad via HDMI dock port to the DVI connector on two monitors of model later. These are: a new U2413 from Dell and a former model BenQ FP241W.

The conclusion is that the HDMI dock may work with some monitors but not others, maybe more, models like the Dell 2007FP. The connection has failed also on a Samsung still more old 204 b.

  • Latitude 10 - ST2 Dock HDMI problems

I just pulled up on my docking station and found that it worked perfectly out of the box.  Unlike some others who have had problems, I felt lucky until I tried to get the HDMI to work with my Dell monitor.

It's about that simple, the monitor does not detect a device and the device does not detect an HDMI monitor.  I've updated the BIOS and drivers Intel for the latest versions from today and still nothing.  I'd appreciate any advice or experiences like mine that could help me to get this resolved.

Quick update on my situation.  I was able to get the dock running after realizing that you cannot convert HDMI in Display Port, only the opposite.  My monitor DELL Professional is not HDMI, there a display Port.  Not sure who came up with this idea, but it seems that HDMI is a standard that is good enough to not have to create another.

In any case, I was using a HDMI Display Port adapter--> and after reading upwards, is that you can convert only the signal in a way.  Turns out the other way, of what I was trying.  If you have a video card that has a display out Port, you can use this adapter to convert to HDMI.  I do in fact with another computer of mine.  However, if you have a monitor with a Display Port, you can not convert HDMI Port to display in this way.

Anyway, I ended up finding a DVI switch and turned the HDMI/DVI monitor and everything works fine.  It's a little weird for the signal on the screen, but as you mention, if you start the camera on the dock, it seems to detect the signal.  Without that, it seems random as to if the signal is getting sent to the monitor.  Sometimes, the monitor just says not: 'no signal' until I have restart the device.

Thank you all for the contributions.

  • No signal found by HDMI or DVI monitor. Monitor detects the VGA signal very well.

That is the problem. I used to get a signal from the HDMI cable or the cable DVi on my old monitor.  Then, the signal was there sometimes, and then it isn't.  Now my new monitor does not have an HDMI or DVI signal.  He finds the signal to the VGA and that works.  Any ideas?  Myself and a few others have no idea on how to solve this problem >

    Hello, billiardsnut

You use a DVI or HDMI adapter?

Assuming you are using a straight DVI-> DVI or HDMI-> HDMI Cable, try to turn off the computer and turn off the monitor, connect the DV or HDMI, then turn them both.

Some video cards will not dynamically change on its own, following the steps above will generally establish the proper output.

In addition, since you mention on your old monitor that it is intermittent, it might be that the digital (DVI/HDMI) port on your graphics card is a failure.

  • Problem with the help of PS on Surface 3 when I attach a HDMI monitor

PS works fine on my 3 surface. When I attach a HDMI monitor and drag the window of PS to him changes in scale and menus, panels etc. become huge as if I use a monitor very low resolution. Tried to change Windows settings for the size of the characters, but no difference. In this way, it is unusable

Your surface 3 pro has a 12 "screen that displays 2160 x 1440 pixels and resolution from 216 DPI.  What is your HDMI monitor and pixel how does view it is more likely is a low resolution screen. And if you use CC 2014 2 x UI the image on the screen of Surface 3 pro is used as it has a 108 DPI, image resolution is like its on a screen is 1080x720PX Photoshop double pixel size her two times wider and twice as high.  4 native pixels of Surface 3 pro serve that would be as true on your HDMI display if it has a resolution of 100 dpi, it would be use as it has a resolution of 50DPI.  The image would look huge and and the display would only display 1/4 the amount of information it could display.  Do not use 2xUI...------using Photoshop CC 2014 on a tablet of Windows without a keyboard and a mouse

  • Upgrading the video card to have both HDMI and DVI

I just bought a model 700-327c HP Envy.  I need to update my video card to have the two HDMI and DVI on the same card.  Y at - it all the features that I need to worry about replacing my existing video card?

    You are welcome.

Yes, it is certainly an option.  Here is an example of an adapter that you could use.  There are 2 ports USB 3.0 on the back i/o ports.

There are others that can add up to 6 monitors to a single computer.  I am not sure that this would not require an upgrade of the power supply, however.

  • Inspiron 530 s displays only half screen via HDMI or DVI

I have a strange problem that I'm seeing with an Inspiron 530 s that I'm trying to get up and running again.  It seems to work fine if I use the default VGA port, but if I try to connect it to a TV via HDMI or DVI, it only appears on half of the screen.  The left side of the screen looks normal (be it screens start Dell or actually in Windows).  The right side of the screen is a series of vertical lines.

I checked the video card isn't the issue.  I swapped another video card in and it does the same thing.  Both cards work fine in another machine.  I also checked the TV working properly.

I hung the 530 s on a normal 17 "monitor via the VGA port and I see the entire screen.

The version of the BIOS is 1.0.0.18 that I understand to be the latest version.

I really want to get this working, but I'm not sure what to look at this point.

Other tests established that the 530 s as well as the 531 s (which I could test on both) must have problems with some video cards.  Once I established that the question could be reproduced on both models, I decided that this must be an incompatibility problem rather than a problem with the motherboard.

I decided to try to get Windows installed despite the half of the screen.  Once I had Windows installed, I changed the resolution to the native resolution of the TV (1366 x 768) and the damaged screen went away.  Somehow, it was fixed even if I rebooted the machine, at this time there and I was able to navigate through the BIOS with a normal screen.  In fact, I was not able to reproduce the problem again until completely stop the machine and remove the power completely.  After that, the machine would still start with display messed up, which would remain until when you start Windows, it changed the resolution of the screen at native resolution and there again it would be "fixed".

The video card is not really new, but I think that it may have been written in a more recent specification of the standard PCI-E that this motherboard can be expected.  If I were so inclined, I could probably find a video card that does not have this problem, but instead, I think I'll just this weird issue.

    Hello.

Just got a new MacBook Pro retina 15 "from Apple. They could not would not fix my old computer so I had to take another to place it. Good luck me, Yes, but I have a lot of peripheral issues. • Determine the good thinkpad dock

    Hey,.

I got a ThinkPad T440p and plans to make a docking station. Since I never got one before I was confused about which we should get. I wanted to get the thinkpad Dock Ultra but was confused about how I would determine if I should get the 90W, 135W or the 170W. I live in Canada, Ontario, if that makes a difference.

I was also curious, what is the main difference between the base station and ultra dock. It is useful for me to get the ultra work?

    Thank you

    Jeje

AFAICT, the majority of the difference is the number of available video ports. If you plan to attach a lot of views, opt for the dock Pro or Ultra. (Basic has a VGA port).

The dock 90W probably works perfectly, but if you plan to have a ton of attached devices, you can the 135W. (AFAIK, the wharf itself is the same, you get just a different power supply adapter)
