I agree with Jason. Sooner or later, you will see that SP1 listed in Windows update Center.

What I have to do it manually? How?

The other question is: is it OK to do, or are there many problems with drivers after that.

    Please help out me.

    Hello

First update of Windows is always desirable and SP1 is really necessary, because it fixes many bugs in Vista.

One of the reasons why Windows Vista doesn't automatically update the SP1 version, is that SP1 can be installed.
Check if SP1 has been installed. To do this follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, right-click computer and then click Properties.
    2. Windows Vista SP1 is installed, you will see a reference to Windows Vista SP1 is displayed at the bottom of the Windows edition section

However, I found a useful document of Microsoft Knowledge that could help you to update SP1

Since yesterday every time I connect normally to Windows Vista, the programs stop responding at random and nothing works Manager tasks even not so I am forced to close it manually, the only way that I normally use my computer is in safe mode

I googled and someone who has had a similar problem to mine all downloaded updates critical to windows update and that seems to fix the problem

My question is how can I access Windows Update in Safe Mode with network, because when I click on start - Windows Update, nothing happens and I cannot use windows install either.

    Thank you

    Hi Renee,.

Please use the Community Forums for Vista.

Probably not the cause, but enabling it does update race and there is probably a problem there.

Well, let's see. If all your restore points are gone, it's bad. Often, it is a virus.

Here's what we need. Error codes, messages, etc.

If no pop up, go into the event viewer (just type in the search bar) and look in the logs of Windows, Applications, and system folders. Please only after the event. We just need the event id and the application causing him.

Here's what you can do in the meantime.

Run the checker system files and chkdsk.

Get back to us with error messages and follow the directions below.

    Follow these steps.

Type cmd into the search bar and press to enter.

The chkdsk command line type, then press on enter.

If it finds errors, type chkdsk /f to repair.

Once that is complete, insert your windows installation disc in the drive and return to the command prompt. Type sfc/scannow, and then enter.

    Janhsmn,

If you do not want to install updates on your computer, you can select the "Hide" option and it will ignore them in the future and continue with other updates. Do not forget that the reason why the updates could be the cause of this problem would be because as a conflict with a third-party software. And most likely will not affect both your systems in the same way unless you have the same third party software installed on all your machines.

To hide the update in Windows Vista, please follow the steps below.
    1. click on 'start '.
    2. Type "Windows Update" and press on "Enter"(on the keyboard) ".
    3. Select "Search for updates"
    4. Select "View available updates"
5 right-click the update that is causing the problem and select "hide update"

    Hi petersbcl,

Please provide us with the information below:

    ·         Which edition and the version of windows you have installed on your computer?

    ·         You can specify other parameters you have set for Windows update?

    ·         You are the administrator of the computer?

Windows Update will remind you if you have to restart your PC to continue the installation of an update and you give the option to "reboot now" or will give you the option to postpone the restart. If you are away from your PC for a long period of time, you can see that it automatically restarts your PC. Windows does to make sure all the latest security and other updates are applied in a timely, to help keep your PC safer with little effort for you.

I suggest you to check the recommended settings for windows update.

  • Windows Vista, windows update error Code 80072F8F

I get the error code 80072f8f. I searched the forums of discussion for something that will help, but nothing helped. I also lost the ability to use the system restore. I checked my timestamp in windows and it shows the date and time correctly. I even went into my bios to make sure that my system time was correct. Both are. I went to this Web page http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/10acefdc-297f-4d14-9f5c-5a90250a8b8c and followed the instructions but had no luck either.

I don't know if system restore is a symptom of the same problem or one of its own. I ran into this problem when I tried to install a netgear 311t wireless network card. I have since deleted from the card and uninstalled the software, I don't know if the map was part of the question, but I noticed when I tried windows update in order to get a driver for the card. I am running Windows vista Home premium 32-bit on a Pentium D 3.00 ghz with 3.5 g of ram. Any help would be great. Thank you.

    Chris

I was afraid you might say that!

OPTION 1: Contact the Symantec Support.

OPTION 2: Personal data backup (which none should be considered 100% reliable at this point) then format the HARD disk and do a clean install of Windows. Please note that a repair installation (upgrade AKA on-site) will NOT fix it!

HOW to do a clean install of Vista: see the "to install Windows by performing a clean install" (or "reinstall Windows Vista") http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Installing-and-reinstalling-Windows-Vista article

NOTE: If your computer came with a set of disks, there is a hidden partition restore (not to be confused with the restoration of the system) you would use to do the clean install (AKA a "destructive recovery").

After the new installation, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of EVERYTHING on the next page before connecting the machine to the internet or one local network (i.e. other computers) AND BEFORE to plug in a flash, SD card, or any other external drive to the computer otherwise:

4 steps to help protect your new computer before going online
         http://www.Microsoft.com/security/pypc.aspx

Tip: After completing the computer fully patched, download/install KB971029 manually before connecting any player external to the computer: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971029

VERY IMPORTANT! -Online free trial Norton will be reinstalled (but invalid) when Windows is reinstalled. You MUST uninstall the trial for free AND download/run the Norton removal tool (new) before installing the updates, Windows Service Packs or IE upgrades AND BEFORE installing your new anti-virus application (e.g., SAV, Microsoft Security Essentials - free).

If you need additional assistance with the clean install, please start a new thread in this forum: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistarepair/threads
