1320 error: specified path is too long: C:\ProgramData\Documents\MyCADPro files

When I try to install CAD Pro6 on my ASUS laptop, I get an error 1320: specified path is too long.  I tried to change the path so it is not that long, but it does not yet install.  Jonathan Z had asked Howbat how go through computer > organize > folder options > view and check "show the hidden files and folders" and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and then re-install the software, but it still gives me the error 1320.  I contacted the technical support CAD Pro and they tell me that it is a Windows Installer issue.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you

The path of the file must be less than 150 characters. try to further reduce its size. http://answers.Yahoo.com/question/index?QID=20070805091343AAWpOq9

  • Cannot delete the file - paths are too long

Trying to delete a folder.  He complains that the folder contains items whose names are too long for the Recycle Bin.

The problem I think is that this folder is a backup copy of an old folder AppData, in which it seems to be an almost infinite folder "Application Data" series - I am sure that these are in fact the links as opposed to records, but there is a huge tree full of them.  At the end of some branches, there are some 'real' files, but then several sub-branches of Application Data files.

So I guess that when I try to remove the top-level folder, the full path to the way in which the files down is just too long.

When I shift-DELETE, nothing happens, and I tried to remove it from the command prompt, nothing helps.

Don't know what to do next.  I want to just get rid of the folder tree.

    Mike

OK, well, irritating as it is that there is no apparent way to force Vista to do, I just crossed the entire folder structure and renamed each 'Application Data' folder to 'a', to shorten the overall paths, and this then allowed me to remove the top-level folder.

  • Deploy the RT too Long of generic IO file path

So I've been fighting with this configuration and mistakes on deploying code to an embedded target RT.  I have a RT Linux cDAQ-9132 and I found that if my path is too long, it will give strange errors.  Sometimes the error will be on the opening, the project gives 'Generic IO to file' but is the VI opens without error.  And sometimes I see "loaded with errors on the target and was closed" on the deployment.

The path to the code reuse in the user.lib is similar to the following:

    C:\Program Files (x 86) \National Instruments\LabVIEW 2015\user.lib\_xxxxxxx\Automotive Communication\CAN Drivers\Generic PEUT Drivers\CAN Class\Public\Signal Conversion\Read signals Polymorphics\Read - Single Sample_xxxxxxx.vi

Who are 233 characters including slashes and semicolons that falls within the limitation of 260 Windows (or 255).

An example of this is attached.  Unzip the user.lib zip in the user.lib and open the Test of RT project.  It's a RT. target but open just the RT Test VI.vi should show the generic IO file error and the VI appears missing on BD.  If you then open the signals of read - only Sample_xxxxxxx.vi the VI loads without error and high level VI can be executed without error now.

I've not seen it documented anywhere, but is there a limit to the length of file that causes this problem?  Is there a document indicating how deeply in the re-use of user.lib can be?  I know that my ways were becoming a bit long but also noticed Windows length had not been exceeded again.  And is it possible that if this limtiation exists, that we will have a little more useful error?  Thank you.

  • Path too long to remove

I have a folder that contains subfolders that create a path that is too deep to remove...  It has a structure like: Pictures\Documents\My Pictures\Documents Documents\My... etc of the infinite that I see...  This is not the default My Documents or my pictures special folders in the profile but are located in a separate HARD disk area.

I've renamed 30 or if for just a\b\c\d\e\f... then I fail to rename folders that Explorer can see... When I try to delete the last folder in my opinion, it says the path is too long.

Anyone know of any free tool that allows you to remove this invalid structure.  I don't want to pay for anything, since it will be a single use and will probably never reuse the product...

I tried to map a network drive to a level about 30 deep...  I tried the subst command... Nothing works and I get the same error that the path is too long.

    Thank you

    Bryan

A ran chkdsk and had no errors at all...  I finally solved it with a utility called DelInvFile.   Analysis of the folder with this utility, revealed the 747 levels of subfolders.   He took care of all of them and deleted the whole tree in about 5 minutes...

    Thank you

  • How to find files whose path names are too long to copy to an external drive?

    Hello all,.

I copied a folder containing files 6 854 into 1 329 folders on an external USB drive.  On the way, I got a total of 677 reviews "path too long name.  After the first few opinions, I clicked on the option "ignore all".

Now I want to find the files that incriminated, whose name, or the path is too long to copy, and then copy them all to a single high level external hard disk folder.  Is it possible in Windows Explorer to search for names of files/paths that exceed this limit?

    Thank you

  • Paper too long on the front

On my new printer all-in-one HP 8610, I use A4 paper. However, whenever I try to print, whether front or front / back I get an error message saying "paper too long at Auto-duplex.  If I close the window, the printer prints normally, so it isn't a big problem, but I would be quit anyway.

    Hello @mussep,

Thanks for getting back to me on this subject.

Because this error appears when printing several programs on your computer, the e-all-in-one printer HP Officejet Pro 8610 there may be a problem within your printers Firmware Version of programming. Or, there may be a conflict between your Windows 7 computer and your printer HP Officejet driver. Can I please you follow the steps below to isolate this problem and fix it.

    Step 1: Make a copy:

To make sure that printer hardware is working properly, I'll ask you to perform a copy on the front of your printer A4 paper. If the copy print correctly, without error messages on the printer or the paper feed issues, then we know that something on the computer is originally this printing error.

How to copy on A4 paper:

    1. Please load a sheet of paper for the test copy either on the flat glass on your printer or in the ADF on top of your printer
    2. On the front screen of the printer, please press copy
    3. Then, tap the settings icon on the bottom of the screen
    4. Under copy settings tap paper size. Please make sure that it is set to A4
    5. Select set as new default values. Press Yes if prompted
    6. Please make a Black or a color copy

    -Source: How to copy

    • If this print-out successfully with no errors or problems paper, that the printer hardware is working properly. This seems to indicate that the problem you are having is caused by something on the computer. Can I please you proceed to the next step to resolve this problem.
    • If the copy fails to print correctly, the problem you are experiencing is caused by your printer. Maybe it's a problem within the internal Firmware programming in your printer. Essentially, the Firmware is the "brain" of your printer and control that made the printer and how the printer it. If there is a corruption in the internal programming of Firmware on your printer, it may cause the printer to performance issues. Can I have it please click hereto download the last Firmware update. Once the download is complete, you will see a prompt to "run" the update of the Firmware. Please allow this to run. The Firmware Update utility is now launched. Follow the prompts on the screen to 'send' the update of the Firmware for your printer. Once the update has been completed successfully please make another test copy to confirm if your machine now copy on A4 paper. If the copy is now accepted, please print from your computer to see if the problem is now resolved. If a copy still fails, please do not continue to troubleshoot at this time.

    Step 2: Uninstall the driver:

If you use a USB cable connection between your computer and your HP Officejet, please unplug this cable now.

    1. Click on the Start menu
    2. Select all programs
    3. Select the HP folder
    4. Select HP Officejet
    5. Select Uninstall

Please follow the prompts on the screen to complete the uninstallation. Once the uninstall is complete, proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Delete the temporary files:

    1. Click on the Start menu
    2. In the box "search programs and files" located just above to start after you click on it, type %temp% , and then press enter on your keyboard
    3. When the Temp folder opens, select Ctrl + A at the same time on your keyboard. Everything in this folder will highlight now.
    4. Select the "delete" button on your keyboard. The Temp folder contains the temporary internet files. None of the actual files or folders on your computer will be affected by deleting Temp files. A Temp file should you will automatically get the pop up to 'jump' this point.
    5. Close the Temp folder when it is empty
    6. Right-click the recycling bin on your desktop and select empty recycling bin. Please proceed to the next step.

    Step 4: Install the device:

    1. Please click here to download the latest drivers for your HP Officejet.
    2. Once the download is complete, follow the prompts on the screen to install your printer
    3. If you use a USB cable connection, do not connect the USB cable until the installation program invites you to

Once the installation is complete, please test print from your computer to confirm if the "too long in the Auto-Duplex document" error is resolved.

Please reply to this message with the result of your troubleshooting. Good luck!

  • "Path too long" error during extraction solution zipped

When retrieving a zipped VB.Net 2008 solution, I get an error indicating "Path too long" and the inscription NationalInstruments.Common.Native.dll.deploy (see attachment). I have recently started getting as this error message and I don't want to just choose the option 'Ignore' because I don't know if I need this file or not. • installation of the software gives an error 1320, too long file name

During the installation of the CAD of DraftSight software on a system running Windows 7 Prof I get an error message 1320, too long file name and the software cannot be installed.  A work around DraftSight suggested to rename the data folder C:\ProgramData\Application, DraftSight installation and then restore the original name of the file.  A second workaround was to delete the folder, install the program and then restore the folder.  A third workarounds solution had to drag or copy and paste the Application Data folder on the desktop, install the software and then return the ProgramData folder in the directory.

For Windows 7 teacher the problem with alternatives a & is the shortcut to the application data to other programs is lost when the name or the file is restored, leaving only an Application Data folder and delete the shortcut.  The problem with the three workaround is that the shortcut cannot be dragged or cut and paste on the desktop.

How can I temporarily allow the program to install and create a folder of Application data in the ProgramData directory and then move the program information in the folder the shortcut pointing to?

I would also like to know how to get the same result with Windows Home Premium where the Application data file is not a shortcut, but is actually a locked folder.  I would need to enter the locked folder information on the program.  Some users of DraftSight say the two alternatives have worked for them and I suspect that they may work for Windows 7 Home Premium, but the impact on other programs may not be obvious.

When you try to install the program?

Assuming that you have the ability to choose where to install the program, you can try to shorten the location.
For example, you can try to install to C:\Program Files\Draftsight\ or if necessary C:\Draftsight

If this does not work, there is nothing that we will be able to suggest other than to contact the developer again. Change the ProgramData folder should not affect this type of problem and the only thing that is likely to affect the writing on the application folder data would be the length of your username, but even then I would feel that the application is something wrong in this case.

Original title: destination path too long?

The key factor is not the name of the file itself, but the total length of the file name and the path of the folder.

The help files for the application that you are using could tell you how long the total combination of the file-file may be [some more older can be limited to 255 characters, but I was not able to discover the current constraints].
