14F L40 satellite with a graphic resolution problem

Hello!

I have Toshiba Satellite L40 - 14F with XP Home SP2 and BIOS 5.10.

I installed this OS with the old version of the BIOS (1.60 - if good I remember)- and everything worked well.
About a month ago, I upgraded the BIOS to version 5.10 (by that I repaired
problem with no Wi - Fi LED lighting) and laptop worked too correct.
But yesterday XP started with the depth of display resolution 640 x 480 and 4 bit color!
When I tried to change resolution back to 640 x 480 and 4 bit color :(

There are no errors in Device Manager and no problems with other devices.
I reinstalled the graphics driver (the same who was working ok and last of Intel)
and no effect. With the XP system only - driver resolution and colors are ok.
Finally I formatted the partition, XP reinstaled with drivers - and... resolution 640 x 480! :(
Other devices (WiFi, audio etc.) work well.

Where is the problem? Is this driver Intel graphics can t work with BIOS 5.10?
Why system worked properly with the same drivers but not now?
Maybe I need to go back to old BIOS and reinstall XP - but Windows install
This change is impossible...

Help me please :)

L40 - 14F Satellite belongs to the series of PSL4CE. Am I wrong?
Could you please check the number at the bottom of the unit? Thank you

As far as I know this laptop was equipped with the Mobile Intel GL960
Chipset Express (code name; ClestlineGML)

Right now, that the European driver Toshiba page provides the BIOS XP v5.40 - WIN and Intel display driver v6.14.10.4833.
But I wonder if you have installed the good BIOS?  :|

Try to upgrade to version 5.40. It is designed for the PSL4CE series.

If the update of the BIOS will not help you, then a problem of graphics card might be possible

One question; Have you noticed the same problem with OS installed since the Toshiba Recovery CD?

Deploy a 5200-903 Toshiba Satellite. A few days ago, I have a problem with the display. All scratches and other
unknown elements on the screen. It's the graphics card (FX GO5600). Read about it in other forums.

My Question: Is it an embedded chart? And what do you think, is it profitable to change the broken component?
I mean if the graphic is on board, I have to change the motherboard together.

Thank you very much for your answers!

    Hello

It's look like that there is a problem with a graphics card. Can you check connection of the external monitor to the laptop?
The graphics card is integrated into the motherboard, therefore, you need to replace the whole motherboard.

It is quite expensive, and sometimes it is better to buy the new computer

  • Satellite Pro A200-1MV - resolution problem

    Hello

Brand new machine with pre-installed XP Pro and I am trying to set my screen resolution.

    Currently the maximum limit is 1280 x 800, otherwise I have 1024 x 768 with a Center screen.

Ideally, I would like to have 1280 x 1024, as 800 option makes some windows program crushed look, and it also means that the report that I have served to must now be changed mentally... a difficult change, I'm sure you're account.

I have two questions: is there a display/chipset driver download I can get to 1280 x 1024 and if so, what is it and what is the URL.

    Many thanks in advance,
    Adam.

    Hello Adam

Please check document s user manuals that you have with your laptop. If I remember well he must be a list of resolutions supported. As far as I know that you should not have problems with external display resolution, but it also depends on who you use.

Some users have noticed problems with 22 screens and resolution of 1680 x 1050.

Connect your external monitor and see if everything is Ok. If this isn't the case, please let us know.

  • Screen with VGA adapter resolution problem

When I connect the MacBook Air 13 (2016 10.11.3 running) to an external monitor via DVI, everything works well: automatically selects the optimal resolution for the external monitor, plus I have other choices of resolution, and everything is good. But when I connect via VGA, I can choose resolution 800 x 600, which is not only not optimal: it's awful.

I get this same problem with 2 different VGA adapters and 2 different monitors, a 16:9 and the other 4:3. (16:9 screen spans 800 x 600, so it looks even worse.)

This problem does not occur on MacBook Pro 13 (2011 also runs 10.11.3): VGA and DVI work very well, with selected automatically optimal resolutions, plus I have other choices of resolution.

No idea how to fix this on the MacBook Air? Or is MacBook Air paralyzed by nature in this way?

    Thank you.

Finally called Apple Support. Has worked with junior counsel, trying all kinds of things that did not work. After an hour of this, he handed me a Counsellor, who took me to the preference of views and had me select the "chipped" resolution key to with hold option key. It gave me a wide range of resolutions that had not been previously available, including the resolution that has ended up working real well. Phew!

  • Satellite A500 - 149 - graphics card problem

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite A500-149 and last week my screen has scratches ace.

The grapichs card is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650.

I send the computer to Toshiba yesterday but I need feedback because a repair. If the same graph as problem could cost to repair?

    Anyone know?

I think that no one here can help you. Either is defective graphics card or screen may only.
In any case, if the GPU is defective, it will be quite expensive.

I think you should contact Toshiba service and ask what is the result of the diagnosis and how much you have to pay for the repair.

  • Satellite L650D - 15K - graphics card problem

    Hello

I updated accidentally driver graphic card ATI Radeon 5650 on the laptop, and then during the games and video look, the computer became very slow, the CPU usage is average on 60%.

I uninstalled the latest driver, reinstalled the driver of my module provided on the Toshiba site (not the one on my computer, because I can not find where it is), but the problem remains, I don't know if the driver from the Web site is the same as on my laptop. It seems that there is some driver files that cannot always be deleted entirely. If I reinstall the whole system, I install and activate the software.

Can someone tell me what should I do now?

    Thank you.

Have you installed the latest driver ATI support page or the Toshiba download page?

I mean it is recommended to use the Toshiba drivers only. I can't say this but I've heard that installing the non-Toshiba drivers can change some important values in the GPU BIOS.

Of course, you can reinstall the recovery image and begin to use the laptop with factory again.
It will be interesting to know if everything will be like before again.

Back up all your important data, reinstalling the OS, test it and thanks for posting comments.

  • Satellite A500-1GL - graphic card problem and overheating

    TOSHIBA SATELLITE A500-1GL - I almost year.
Already, the first problem appeared immediately after the purchase.
After a telephone conversation with the service and install some problem driver disappeared but unfortunately it was another, computer laptop start overheating especially on games but evan on movies more make strange noise.
I ve already used about 7 different cooling pads but none of them helped, I change the fan settings, cleaning by compressed air did not help at all.

Is there a way I can fix this?

Should I send it to Toshiba as it is still under warranty?

Can you please tell us what is the first problem?
To be honest, you should let Toshiba service to check this and give you 100% of mobile working.

What you want to do? If the same symptoms are there even if laptop with factory settings, I think it is certainly the issue of guarantee.

  • DataGrid with background graphic cell problem

I have a datagrid and some entries belong to a particular "channel". Rather than place the text in cells to indicate the way, I want to include a logo. I created a custom cell renderer engine, but I first ask if there's a way more easy/better.

In any case status chart appears and it does not work as I expect, except...

For some reason the cell with graphic logo in the background is only half height. I put the row on the data grid height to 38. The cells in the other columns are correct research. If I draw the height of the 'present' in the cell converter class he also tells me that it is 38. But clearly somewhere along the way that information is not in the background.

    Any ideas?

are "redesign you" your datagrid after the addition of the image?  in particular, if you load the images, you use a full listener to redraw the DataGrid?

  • Crazy printing with InDesign graphic/text problem

I created a group/graphic in InDesign, which consists of two pieces of text on a curve and a 'chat' drawn. You can see below at the top and at the bottom of the catalog page. Surprisingly, the graphic prints correctly on the side RIGHT of the page (top, top and right of the items), but not on the side LEFT of the page (at the bottom, only the top of the page printed text). I even created a new empty file, copied the group to the Clipboard and pasted into this new document of a dozen times, before moving copies to all the different places on the page. Yet, the left would not print, while those on the right printed correctly. Someone saw something strange than ever? I'm really puzzled by this one.

    test.jpg

When I did a test print to PDF, I had lack of funds with the old and new versions, and move the Group would affect whether she would be to print or not.

A journey through .inx completely cured it.

  • With L520 screen resolution problem

So I got my L520 (78595AG) today and to my disappointment the max screen resolution I could achieve was only 1366 x 768. One of the reasons why I chose to buy this laptop was precisely because of HD +. I tried to remove the old drivers and reinstall the new, but to no avail. The computer is fully up to date (ThinkVantage and Windows).

    Any suggestions?

As far as I know, the only thing I have not tried yet is updated the BIOS, but right now I am running version 8GET33WW (1.10).

  • Graphic resolution on Satellite L40 - 17Q problem

There is no if long my screen crashed... actually the turbine BP has opened with a screen resolution of 640 x 480 and 4 bit color.

I couldn't change the resolution or color depth, whenever I tried came back to 640 x 480. I tried to install the new versions of the driver, the old versions with no luck. I installed win. Vista and it worked but on my slow computer as short BONES.

Today I installed a new version of windows xp and before installing display drivers offered by Toshiba, the resolution worked higher then 640 x 480. After the instalation it failed once again. If I look in Device Manager I see that the drivers are installed and working, but there is another tab called "Other devices" which has 3 positions, all the 3 named "LGPhilipsLCDLP154WX4-TLD2".

No drivers are available for children of what I tried.

    Please help me! :-(

    Hello

In my case I have 3 entries called Plug-and-Play monitor.
I guess there is everything goes well in your device manager.
Instead of Plug & Play monitor your entry is called LGPHilipsLDC154WX4-TLD2.

Try to remove it from the Device Manager (mark it and delete), and then restart.
Perhaps the entry of the Plug-and-Play monitor is displayed.

If this isn't the case, well fine, then you should t be worried because it doesn't matter how this entry is called it shouldn't t affect anything!

  • Satellite Pro A120: I have problems with the installation of the graphics driver for W2k

I installed windows 2000 on an A120, the system is fully packed and service updated before I even start to install the necessary drivers, I am unable to restart the system. I once, install as recommended drivers that I have problems with the graphics driver because it will not be installed because it requires a reboot and then I can't install new programs that require a restart that the driver has not been installed correctly.

The laptop is a Pro A120, age of 1 week and came with XP home, because of this toshiba will not offer me support I changed the o/s even though they obviously support 2000 on this laptop, because they provide the drivers.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

Did you use and install the drivers from the Toshiba driver page right?
The drivers of Toshiba W2k for Satellite Pro A120 have been published and are ready!

But please pay attention to the Toshiba drivers.
There are two different sets of Satellite Pro A120, with different drivers W2k!
After choosing the good laptop and download the drivers please follow the proper installation order that is indicated in the document "installation instructions"! Check it!

I think that if you follow this guide line everything works and runs correctly. Good luck

    Hello

Not after two months of use of a brand new Toshiba A300, I had a dead pixel.
Its only I guess, but what intrigues me is that it could be somehow merged with disorders, that I got with my graphics card.
I had trobule with S-video use, there was a bad image, without collors.
Is there a chance that I can have my screen replaced?

    Im still under warranty.

    Thank you

    Hello

    Regarding the dead pixel:
    > Is there a chance that I can have my screen replaced?
I doubt that the screen would be replaced only due to a dead pixel.

Please check out this article from Toshiba. I found it in the page of knowledge base of Toshiba.
