Screen with VGA adapter resolution problem

When I connect the MacBook Air 13 (2016 10.11.3 running) to an external monitor via DVI, everything works well: automatically selects the optimal resolution for the external monitor, plus I have other choices of resolution, and everything is good. But when I connect via VGA, I can choose resolution 800 x 600, which is not only not optimal: it's awful.

I get this same problem with 2 different VGA adapters and 2 different monitors, a 16:9 and the other 4:3. (16:9 screen spans 800 x 600, so it looks even worse.)

This problem does not occur on MacBook Pro 13 (2011 also runs 10.11.3): VGA and DVI work very well, with selected automatically optimal resolutions, plus I have other choices of resolution.

No idea how to fix this on the MacBook Air? Or is MacBook Air paralyzed by nature in this way?

Thank you.

Finally called Apple Support. Has worked with junior counsel, trying all kinds of things that did not work. After an hour of this, he handed me a Counsellor, who took me to the preference of views and had me select the "chipped" resolution key to with hold option key. It gave me a wide range of resolutions that had not been previously available, including the resolution that has ended up working real well. Phew!

  • Screen with a Qosmio F10 problems

Guys, I have a very cold sweat and Im panicking on my laptop!
It crashed on me and he couldn't do anything, so I turned it off. I came back to it a few minutes later and when I tried to turn it on, I get a black screen with as white on the screen axis-bands. I don't know if the laptop itself is wrong or just the screen. But I am worried, sick and trembling like a leaf here!
    Please help me!

My laptop is a Toshiba Qosmio F10
bought mid-2005 for about 1.5 years

the screen is just weird. Black with vertical pin strips.

No, I have not installed a new software or hardware. I was just working away in Word and Photoshop when he went AWOL. So I had put out of service.

    Hello, Karen

There is certainly a hardware problem and I'm afraid there is nothing you can do alone. You can test it with an external monitor to see if the problem persists and check if the problem occurs due to faulty display or graphics.

Believe me, the best thing you can do is to contact Toshiba authorized partner in your country. Let them test your defective hardware for laptop and Exchange.

  • 14F L40 satellite with a graphic resolution problem

    Hello!

    I have Toshiba Satellite L40 - 14F with XP Home SP2 and BIOS 5.10.

I installed this OS with the old version of the BIOS (1.60 - if good I remember)- and everything worked well.
About a month ago, I upgraded the BIOS to version 5.10 (by that I repaired
problem with no Wi - Fi LED lighting) and laptop worked too correct.
But yesterday XP started with the depth of display resolution 640 x 480 and 4 bit color!
When I tried to change resolution back to 640 x 480 and 4 bit color :(

There are no errors in Device Manager and no problems with other devices.
I reinstalled the graphics driver (the same who was working ok and last of Intel)
and no effect. With the XP system only - driver resolution and colors are ok.
Finally I formatted the partition, XP reinstaled with drivers - and... resolution 640 x 480! :(
Other devices (WiFi, audio etc.) work well.

Where is the problem? Is this driver Intel graphics can t work with BIOS 5.10?
Why system worked properly with the same drivers but not now?
Maybe I need to go back to old BIOS and reinstall XP - but Windows install
    This change is impossible...

    Help me please :)

L40 - 14F Satellite belongs to the series of PSL4CE. Am I wrong?
Could you please check the number at the bottom of the unit? Thank you

As far as I know this laptop was equipped with the Mobile Intel GL960
    Chipset Express (code name; ClestlineGML)

Right now, that the European driver Toshiba page provides the BIOS XP v5.40 - WIN and Intel display driver v6.14.10.4833.
But I wonder if you have installed the good BIOS?  :|

Try to upgrade to version 5.40. It is designed for the PSL4CE series.

If the update of the BIOS will not help you, then a problem of graphics card might be possible

One question; Have you noticed the same problem with OS installed since the Toshiba Recovery CD?

  • Replace the screen for one with a higher resolution on Satellite P850-12Z

    Hi all

I read a lot on the internet about the replacement of the screen on computers laptop toshiba and also I saw a video on [how to replace the screen for a Toshiba Satellite P855 | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ncz3ZaI2I-s].

Is it possible to replace the screen for a Toshiba Satellite P850 12Z (original: 15.6"@1366x768) to another screen with a higher resolution (say: 15.6"@1920x1080 or 15.6"@1600x900)?

I'm sure that the graphics card is able to function perfectly with this screen (nVidia GeForce GT630M 2048 MB dedicated) and also I read a lot on laptop screen replacement, and I know that this screen has a connector 40 pin and it is an LED Panel, so I won't have to worry about the ups.

I found several screens (15.6"@1920x1080) who say they are compatible with Toshiba, but I wan't to make sure a higher resolution Panel replacement is possible.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

Exchange of the display is not supported by Toshiba, so I don't think that someone here can help you with this.
I assume that Toshiba offers multiple views for this model of laptop. Only seller is different but resolution 1366 x 768 is always the same as on the original laptop specification.

You can try to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. If someone can help you with that service of Toshiba. They have access to the database of Toshiba and can possibly tell if another view is usable on your machine.

    All this is quite complicated.

  • with dv 9500 Screen resolution problems

Can someone help me with the problem of screen resolution. It's all out of proportion. I tried all the possible functions of resettlement to the factory setting, update drivers and play with the setting of the resolution. Nothing helps. I have my laptop for 15 months and I can't return the resolution of the initial screen. I reduced the resolution 1268 x 600. I can barely see the scroll bar, but its size is reduced by 1/4. A black band on the top of the screen. Everything works well except the settling of display is not working properly. I spoke with 3 HP technical support online and they all give the same advice, but none of them have worked so far.

Any suggestion on how to solve this problem without having to spend a fortune on spare parts?

    I need more information.

    (VISTA OS)

    1. right click on your "DESKTOP" and choose 'CUSTOMIZE' at the bottom of the pop-up window

2 - Select the last item "DISPLAY SETTINGS."

    3. give me your setting (number of pixels) by dragging the slider to "LOW", "LOW RESOLUTION" also give your monitor and the name of the graphic card located under the photo in the display settings tab

(example - default monitor on the standard VGA adapter)

I guess your original resolution is 1440 x 900 pixels?

  • After re-installing vista OS - my vga on laptop adapter is most recognized using a projector (I use large screen TV) never had a problem before - now not even recognized

As I said in the title - I reinstalled vista OS due to many files corrupted - my adapter vga on laptop now is no longer recognized.  Nothing happens when I plug in the power cord vga for the big screen TV or projector.  That's how I give presentations which is part of my job. I use a projector (I use TV big screen). Never had a problem before - now even not recognized.

    Once you do a reinstall:

Go to the Web site of the manufacturer of your laptop computer-graphics/computer card > drivers and downloads Section > key in your model number > look for the latest Vista drivers > download/install them.

  • Problem with the display resolution double

I connect to my laptop to a TV with a VGA cable. The TV has the ability to display up to 1920 x 1080. Normally, my laptop display mode is 1280 x 800. When I connect to the TV as duplicate display my laptop switches to 1024 x 768 and won't let me come back to 1280 x 800. How can I fix this. I need dual extended display or tv only is not an option. I need a way to have my normal screen (1280 x 800) resolution when you are connected to the tv (external monitor).  I know that this is not a problem with the VGA cable because I get a resolution of 1920 x 1080, if I select external display (tv). Thanks for your help! Someone else has a solution for me?

    Hello

I suggest you to update the video card driver and check if it helps.

Follow the link below and check if that helps.

  • Problem with VGA output via CDM on XPS 12

When I connect my XPS 12 via a mini display to VGA to an external monitor, there is no problem. This changes however when I connect it to a beamer/projector. Then it is af if my laptop does not recognize that and I just cannot make it work. When I test the card on my macbook to friends, it does not work.

Do I need a special for this or is my laptop VGA adapter broken?

On Windows 7 or 8, I recommend trying the following:

-Hold down the Windows key and then press the button P to scroll through the choices of the external display

-First try the only projector choice and test it with Extend or duplicate

If that does not solve the problem, I do it with the following:

-Open Intel graphics and Media Control Panel (located in your Control Panel or system tray)

-Go in the multiple views section and make sure that the mode of operation is not defined for a simple screen

    -   Active displays should show the total number of exits is connected as well (ex: 2 = integrated display + monitor)

If these two options do not work, you should remove your graphics driver and do a clean install of the latest graphics driver from the Dell support site.

    Kind regards

  • Pavilion beatsaudio 11-n012na: white screen with the AC adapter is plugged in.

laptop worked fine with W8.1, but after installing windows, 10 screen is blank with power supply is plugged in. Laptop starts up OK, but with a white screen, pulling the adapter allows image appear, no other problems. Battery charge OK but cannot be used while charging. This didn't happen with windows 8.1

    Hello

    I had the same problem.

If you go into the power settings (right click on the battery icon), select additional power settings and change the power plan that you use.  The brightness slider is the wrong way autour if you selected it to its maximum intensity is in fact completely black.  Move the cursor to the other end and save the settings (nothing will happen as long as you save the settings).  The reason it's ok on battery is that the cursor is somewhere in the middle.

    I hope this helps.

  • Satellite C70 - A - 16 L - screen resolution problem

    Hello

    I recently had a screen resolution problem with my laptop (C70 - A - 16 L).
The max screen resolution which is imparted to me is 1366 x 768, whereas before I think he used 1600 x 900.

I tried the latest drivers, Bios, etc. and have also restored the operating system to a previous backup, as well as a new installation.
I also tried to roll back to Windows 7 (with proper drivers). They all offer the same problem.

This new maximum resolution display correctly - as if the LCD does not deal with the timings of 1366 x 768.
I believe that the Panel is OK and the problem he reports the EDID information properly - to force windows to use the new resolution.

Is there a download monitor.inf file that can be used to bypass the EDID reported by the Panel?

    Kind regards

    Antwist.

If the right to display drver is usually installed everything should be OK.

    Screen resolution problem

I have a dell latitude d630 2.5 GHz computer laptop under XP Professional 64-bit operating system.  The screen resolution will not be set above 680 x 480, and when I try to increase the computer stops with a black screen message that don't stay long enough onscreen to read.  Dell advised that they don't or support this machine with the XP operating system and that they have no drivers or other fixes for the problem.  I hope that you will be able to help and thank you.

    Hi dduck11,

    ·         What is the default screen of the laptop resolution?

You need to update the graphics (video) drivers for the laptop. I see that there are Windows XP drivers available for the same thing. Download and install the updated drivers to see if it helps.
