15 Pavilion: Pavilion laptop closed its doors but does not power off

When I stopped my phone everthing seems to close except that the power is not cut.  This problem doesn't happen every time but appox 60%.  I can turn off using the power switch, but it is a pain.  Turns off the switch it starts normally afterwards. The probem can be caused by my upgrade to windows 10 I have not had any problems before.

Hello

Try disabling the startup of Windows 10 hybrid - you can do the following.

Open settings and select System.  Select food and sleep, and then click additional power settings - in the next window, click on "Choose what the power button" in the left pane.

In the next window, click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable" (close), then Remove the check mark from the box against 'Turn on a quick start (recommended) '.  Click on the button Save the settings, and then close all open windows and check if the laptop will now be shut down properly.

Kind regards

  • Pavilion dv6700: Pavilion laptop computer under Vista: Windows does not start, the Startup Repair cannot fix it. What to do next?

    Hello
My laptop seven year old made me proud til yesterday, but now it does not fire upwards. Instead, it hangs for a minute or two (black screen, no HARD drive light blinks, nothing), while it charges to a screen with two options - either start the system restart or start Windows normally. The second option takes me around the loop again. The first option tells me that it cannot fix the problem automatically. When I display the error details, it lists all of the tests, as adopted successfully, but ends with the words: "Root cause found: failure so that the Setup program is underway.

I'm sure I know why she fell: two days ago, I left all my files on a portable player and defragmented the disk. The idea was to speed up the machine and get it running like new. He immediately started to hang when connecting, so I thought, well I'll go for a complete restoration of the system. I followed the procedure using the disks provided with the machine, and that's when it stopped working completely. I felt that this was more than the aging than HARD drive could take.

My attempts at rejuvenation have actually caused his untimely death? Or is there a difficulty - something I could undertake?

Or should I just bite the bullet and go and buy a new machine? When everything (screen, keyboard and trackpad) worked so well, it seems a shame...

Any help or thoughts welcome. Thank you

If you really want to resurrect, you could certainly purchase a new hard drive and try to restore the system of work using the recovery media - but then, even if it did work, you would have still lost all your data, settings, and applications in the process - and having to reinstall all your applications everywhere again.

Hey, don't feel bad, I'm guilty of this too - has recently attempted to resurrect an era Tablet XP PC so that it can run Win10!  He went from XP to Vista, Win7, for Win8 - and along the way, gains of new memory and drives hard - but the Win10 bet was too.  So, I got to a "give up to use it.

However, I also kept a cell phone 5 year alive by replacing the HDD with a SSD and adding more memory.  So now it is faster than ever, it has been and works like new.

But... He has NO touchscreen, there no USB3 ports, it doesn't have 1 GB ethernet - and the list goes.

Thus, it works very well for what we use it for - but it can't really be upgraded, so sooner or later, we will have to replace it.

Everything depends on how much you need 'new' - touch screen, stylus, handwriting, camera, 3 USB ports, display port jack, HDMI ports... etc.

Someone of you have a problem with the mobile remote on the DV5-2070us, I just bought a custom model and the remote control does not work.  I had to call HP to get the remote control has sent to me, he was not in the box, as indicated on the site.  My guess is that the custom templates do not work with the remote control.

Called HP customer service, they have me advised that this version if the model basic or custom, won't work as my other laptop DV4 series.  This remote will work only while watching a DVD or internet TV.

  • Laptop HP 15: Realtek RTL8188E does not turn off

    Have HP laptop, 15; bought with Win 8 but upgraded to Win10 earlier this year. Recently installed a number of system and driver updates from HP.  One of them was for the Realtek lan wireless (driver dated 13/10/2015;

ver 2023.19.831.2015). Since that time, LAN will not turn off (light stays on) when you use Shutdown or Hibernate. A difficult start is necessary to extinguish the light of lan and restart the computer. It's a pain. I'm missing the need to change a setting somewhere or is this something that is going to require waiting for a new update for the Realtek driver?

    Hey stueve2002,

I'm sorry that you run in the no power problem! The first thing you want to check is your power cord. If the AC adapter is good (and it is plugged into a wall outlet good), turns the light on the computer next to which connects regardless of the State of the rest of the computer. Let me know if this (see the example below image) light or not.

If it's light off, try a different outlet. Try one that has a work lamp or other device currently connected. If you have one available or try this adapter to another computer to see if it will fuel another computer, try another AC adapter. Check the connection of the DC end of the power cord in the power brick (big block in the middle of your power cord). Shake it and listen to the sounds of rattling. Check the entire cord for any damage.

If this light is on, you see everything for example Caps/Num Lock lights flashing lights? If this isn't the case, does nothing when you press the power button? Don't you hear the fan, hard drive and the optical drive from spinning? The bright light? Nothing flashes on the screen?

If you see signs of life at all (rotation of the fan, etc.), you can try to connect the computer on a secondary monitor to see if any picture on this subject.

You can also try reinstalling the RAM. If you have more than one stick, try to use just one stick at a time in each slot to rule out the possibility of a bad location.

Let me know what you find. I'll keep an eye out for your answer

It may be that the machine did not completely stop, then try the following.

First, hold the power button for 10 seconds before releasing.

Press the power button and see if the notebook starts now.

If so, let it fully load in Windows and then try to disable hybrid Startup Windows 10 - you can do the following.

  • Equium MX40-103 screens towers but does not power down

I have the above model. The laptop works well except for the fact that the screen turns off but is still running.

This can happen in 10 minutes or after hours, I can't find one any relationship with the problem.
However, the laptop will beep once for a longer time, then twice for a shorter duration, then the screen turns off.

This occurs when the computer is loaded up, is not when loading windows. Thanks for helping me

    Hello

Have you tried updating the graphics card driver?
What about your BIOS version? If the latest version is available on the Toshiba page that you could try to update. But be careful! Don't forget to use the good BIOS and use the right update procedure

Anyway. I read somewhere on similar problems and it seems to be linked to the main Exchange of bad parameter between LCD and PCB.
This can be caused by a damaged ROM chip on the LCD screen.
But to be 100% sure, you will need to contact the service point.

  • G60: laptop does not power off with powered usb hub attached

I have an external powered USB hub which I attach to my G60 running Windows 7 Edition Home Premium. When I try to stop the G60 with the attached hub and under tension, the shutdown sequence passes Logging Off to Shutting Down but never completely off. Power and lighting wireless turned on and the fan continues to run.

Is there a way around it except turn off the USB hub before shutdown?

    Hi @Andrew_c51 ,

I saw your post about the problems with your laptop not shutting not completely when the powered USB hub is connected. Sounds like your laptop goes into sleep or hibernation. I recommend you contact the manufacturers of USB powered to see if there is a way to stop it or just unplug the hub.

    Hello

On some machines, the pilot for 11 series IMEI has been known to cause that kind of question of the judgment, so it may be worth trying an earlier version.

You can use the following method to install an earlier version of the driver IMEI.

Download driver IMEI on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp66001-66500/sp66228.exe

Disable your wireless card (should be f12 ).

Open your download folder and run the installer - it warns you that it is an earlier version, but simply continue.

    When finished, restart the laptop.

If the computer shuts down correctly, turn on your wireless adapter and use the utility on the following link to prevent Windows 10 to update automatically the driver IMEI again.
