16.04 Ubuntu on ideapad 110-15IBR

Hello, I'm new to this forum and I apologize if this topic has been discussed before, or if this is the wrong place to ask the question.

I just bought a Lenovo ideapad 110-15IBR computer comes with windows 10 home. I would like to install Ubuntu linux 16.04 LTS instead of windows. I downloaded the image and tried to run it and everything seems to work perfectly without any problems. I hesitate however install and I wonder if anyone here has installed ubuntu 16.04 on the 110-15IBR and if there are problems with the drivers. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I am spoiled with Ubuntu and when I bought this PC (ideapad not touch z500) last summer I didn't know that it was difficult to install Ubuntu on it. I read the Ubuntu forums and it says 'disable secure/fast boot etc' and I can't find anywhere in the BIOS on none of this! I can be silly, but you please help me! Thanks in advance!

I do not have your machine and your message does not include a description of what you tried.

    What you need:
-a USB or a blank CD player
    -an ISO of Ubuntu
-software to make a CD image or USB bootable with ISO
-a backup of all your data, assuming that the installation will erase everything on this machine.
    -Google

I can't give more details. Have you tried to install it so far?

I'm not very well why the BT does not work in connection with the kernel 14.04, but I recommend you to check the discussions of the Ubuntu forum on the issues of the Qualcomm Atheros AR9565 m.

  • IdeaPad Y400 keyboard broken after installation of Ubuntu. Sent in, Lenovo has sent back still broken.

I have a Y400 Ideapad, purchased in December 2012, delivered with Windows 8. He has recently due to a malfunction after trying to install Ubuntu as a secondary OS. It was very difficult to get installed Ubuntu because UEFI and Secure Boot really tried to stop him, but I have finally installed it and the two operating systems, has been working for about 24 hours. Then, Ubuntu was able to start. On several occasions. Then I started Windows and it seemed that he was working again, except that from time to time when I tried typing, the keyboard type keys I had not touched and then stop responding for about 30 seconds. After that, it would still work for a little while.

I ran OneKey Recovery to try to solve this problem, wiping my hard drive and reinstall Windows 8 from scratch. Still doesn't solve it. He actually glitched once while I was still setting to the top of my Windows profile, before he had even started for the first time.

So I sent my laptop for Lenovo and, a week later, they sent back with a new keyboard (despite me telling them that it probably wasn't the problem). He worked for the next few days, but as of today, he started glitching again, much. I don't want to send my laptop for Lenovo again because I need for the class I'm taking. Also, when they sent it the first time, they have not even put it together right. The rear panel was not at bottom, and panel below which was actually folded so that one of its tabs fit on the side of my laptop instead of being inside.

I really need to solve this problem, but I'm doubting the capacity of Lenovo to do, and I don't want keep it will send if it simply means that I won't have a laptop for 1-2 weeks and then I'll get it broken back yet more. Also, I need even Ubuntu, even if they do not fix it then I have to reinstall Ubuntu and it will probably break again. Not to mention, they will probably wipe my data from it.

    Found a thread discussing this:

    http://forums.Lenovo.com/T5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/IdeaPad-Y400-keyboard-auto-typing-and-out-o...

Turns, the Y400s have a defect. If you select always "on USB" in the BIOS / menu UEFI, it messes up your keyboard. I have activated it when I was trying to get my computer to recognize a USB boot.

I'm surprised a Lenovo support is not already aware of it. I talked to Lenovo about a dozen employees, including a supervisor and a representative of the customer relationship and no one suggested she could relate to my BIOS settings.

  • IdeaPad y560 radeon 5730 black screen, older version of the driver needed

    Hi all

I got an ideapad y560 0646 with i7 and radeon 5730 without switchable graphics. After startup, the windows logo appears and then only a black screen. no windows logon. It is possible to start with the standard vga drivers. im running windows 7 prof 64 bit. I remember that I installed windows 7 32 bit in November 2011 teacher and after installing graphics drivers from the homepage of lenovo, I faced the same problem. so I just kept using windows 7 64 bit. I think that there is a windows update that has caused the problems for windows 7 64 bit. I installed the latest drivers, but it did not work. I think that it is not hardware issue because ubuntu works well. I would try the old drivers that came with the y560 on cd. Unfortunately, I can't find the cd.

Some have old driver cd and can download the drivers or name the file of the driver so I can download it from the web?

no need to do so. the black screen issue is resolved. and the blue screen issue 0101 when you connect the ac charger cable, too. I had to adjust the power settings in windows. mininmal performance is set to 100 per cent for execution with the cable. If you set it to 5% as a battery-operated, is not breaking. Maybe this could be one solution to others to have the black screen after the windows logo.

    Here's what to do:

start in safe mode and adjust your power settings to run with the AC adapter / CC. define the minimum performance of 5%

Please let me know if it works

  • Lenovo ideapad y510p boot on CD/DVD

    Hello

Just had the laptop y510p and I am trying to install Ubuntu, so I have this DVD bootable and I wanted to try out Ubuntu before you install as usual, but I can't get the laptop to bot on dvd. On the start menu options, there are only EFI and a kind of network options but not dvd.

I tried following the instructions here, but regardless of how many times I press F1 during boot, I can't start menu and windows starts directly:

    http://support.Lenovo.com/en_CY/downloads/detail.page?docid=HT036814

Is it not possible to boot on dvd. The dvd is supposedly compatible with EFI and secure boot ubuntu 13.10.

I don't understand why there is no option to rearrange devices to boot on my old PC.

I managed to get the BIOS configuration by pressing the restart and Maj and then selecting settings UEFI firmware and I chance to the configurations of the bios, but still no way to find the option to start on a dvd.

    Any advice? Thank you

I managed to install ubuntu, the problem is that my cd is defective, here's a blog where I wrote about the steps

    in the case, someone must:

    http://vaxapp.WordPress.com/2014/02/09/install-Ubuntu-12-04-3-on-a-Lenovo-IdeaPad-y510p/

I found a lot of answers here:

    http://AskUbuntu.com/questions/221835/installing-Ubuntu-on-a-pre-installed-Windows-8-64-bit-system-u...

Although for Windows 7 the problem is perhaps that he does not support UEFI and or secure boot?

In windows 8 type ctr + C then the power button, then press Caps + restart and then chose the option help out and something UEFI and you will restart in the bios, then you can change the settings to disable secure boot and/or inherited instead of the UEFI boot.

When you press F12 is the start menu, but you won't see that entries that are UEFI-compatible (if you are using the UEFI) either CD or USB

  • Question of IdeaPad P400

    Hi team,

Can you get it someone please let me know the process step by step to install Ubuntu in my Ideapad p400 with windows 8, currently running...

Would be well appreciated. Thank you

I did not this exact procedure, but there are several guides that have been written. Here are 2 with screenshots.

    http://itsfoss.com/install-Ubuntu-1404-dual-boot-mode-Windows-8-81-UEFI/

Basically, you need to reduce your current partition, create a new partition, install Ubuntu and then install a boot loader. The procedures above will show you what you need to do. Read through them and if you have any questions, ask away and I'll do my best to explain.

    Hello..

Everyone figured out what to do to receive the work correctly under Linux Y550 speakers? I spent some time to make ALSA work well try, but again, I only 2.0 speakers works... Cannot convince the subwoofer to do its job. My dream is a sound quality like in Windows with Home Theater of working... If someone did, or has any ideas, I would be very happy...

(Oh, I use Ubuntu, if it makes a difference.)

    This solution worked for me:

    http://forums.Lenovo.com/T5/IdeaPad-Y-and-U-series-laptops/Ubuntu-Linux-support/TD-p/16842/page/2

    Add

    model options snd-hda-intel = lenovo-nb0763

    at the end of /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

As a bonus, this really seems up to the output of the speakers as well.
