  I have a HP 6005 Pro SFF with a 240W PS, and I want to upgrade the video card.  It has an ATI Radeon HD 4200.    An HP Forum person (Paul Tikkanen) recommended an upgrade for a 6005 using a video card optional for the HP 6200 Pro SFF:

  Please confirm it also works for the 6005.  If I replace it, can I actually remove the Radeon 4200 and replace it directly at the space of the same card mother slot to save space of PCI Expansion slot, or do I use the expansion PCI Express 16 x slot?   If so, is the procedure for the direct replacement documented anywhere?

  The ATI Radeon HD 4200 Video on your PC is the graphics chip integrated according to page 14 of the quickspecs at the link below. In other words, the graphics card is a chip that is soldered to the motherboard.  It is not in an expansion slot.

  The dedicated PCI express x 16 slot should be empty now, and this is where you install the card I have recommended.

  I don't see why the HD 6450 work.  It works in the dc7800, dc7900, Pro 6000, 6200 pro, 8000 Elite, Elite 8100 and 8200 Elite business desktop PC.

  You just need to make sure that uninstall you the HD 4200 graphics card and the driver in Device Manager.  Also check the uninstalling the driver box.

  Also uninstall catalyst control center software in the Add/Remove programs in the control panel section, stop and disconnect the PC, install your new video card and the driver for the 6450.

  I would recommend the Radeon HD 6450 low profile card with low profile mounting support for this model, which, incidentally, is a 6005 pro, not a Pro 6500.

  HP is currently only 6300 Pro Series competition.

  Personally, I like the fanless models but in a SFF case, according to me, that you really do need a fan to push the heat out of there more quickly that a passive heat sink can, but it's up to you.

  After a complete restoration with original General card her I ve were ok for 1 day. But then he started with small openings during playback of music or something else. Now I hear much slower music or noise and rustle.   As Feliks said, try to recover the operating system with the recovery CD supplied and don't install any software 3rd as some of the codex or music players. If the problem persists, it could be a malfunction of the equipment.

  No, it is not possible given that the graphics chips more are part of the motherboard.
  In some cases, it of possible to remove the graphics chip on the motherboard, but in this case that it must always use the same GPU for this motherboard.

  Compare the specifications of the two models, it seems that the only thing you can use the hard drive, what said you was not good, so it does not work.

  The 6005 Pro uses different memory (DDR3) and 531's DDR2, which does not in a DDR3 slot.

  The 6005 uses another set of AMD processors and that of your 531 s will not work in the 6005 Pro.

  You can try to switch between GPU and CPU by pressing Ctrl / Cmd + E, or you try disabling GPU performance by clicking on the icon of the rocket in the bar of the App, or on the top of the menu bar, deselect the box Performance GPU. You may also uncheck performance GPU in your preferences.
