2006 WLC and 802.11n

I have a 2006 WLC with 6 1242 APs and wondered what should I expect when I can replace 1242 a 802.11n AP.

I know that the new access point will not work at full speed, but other than that, I don't know.

Any ideas on that?

Thank you, Gary

So I can add an 802.11N AP to the controller

802.11n AP only, you can use is the 1250.

BUT it will not run at the N speed, etc.  Right?

You can activate 802.11n, but because the controller has speed 10/100BaseTx, then you have a bottleneck.

So what we're thinking is purchasing 1 or 2 of the APs and let them run on our 2006 WLC, knowing that i WILL not see the speed difference, etc until next year, when i get the new WLC.

You do not things easy for me are you?

Ok.  So that you know what your next financial bucket will come in.  What your savings.  1250 in a desktop environment... Hmmm... I don't recommend it.  1250 need 20.0 watts of power (because you are running firmware 4.X).   IF you use either a switch that can pour 20.0 PoE power, a power injector or remove one of the radio modules.

If you, for example, the baby 1040 (aka "N") or more the 5508 1140 then you can really run 802.11n.

  • 802.11n interference

How sensitive is 802.11n to other networks 802.11 x?

We seek to use Cisco 802.11n in a building up, but it's going to be multi-tenant building and several networks 802.11 x can become current.

Is there any good documentation on issues related to the interference and 802.11n that someone can offer?

    Thank you.

Regarding the interference... 802.11n operating in the 2.4 GHz 20 MHz spectrum will suffer interference even in 802. 11 b / g... If you enable a 40 MHz channel of liaison, then interference will probably get worse because of this will diminish the 3 overlapping channels just 1-channel therefore interference will see immediately.

That said, if you are designing a mutli-tennant for 802.11n, I would start using the range of 5 GHz because that his vacuum cleaner and you will be able to use the binding channel or the 40 MHz band to increase the speed and the bandwidth of the WLAN overall.

I have attached a design guide for your comment... hope this helps you in your steps.

  • BCM94313HMGB combo wireless 802.11n and Bluetooth 3.0 half minicards UPgrade

I recently bought your desktop pavilion pc p6-2378 with 8 64-bit windows.   Noticed that the Office lacks any wireless internet.

Bought a BCM94313HMGB 802.11n and Bluetooth 3.0 high speed half mini-map and installed it.  Wireless driver works immediately.  But I donot see the radio bluetooth option anywhere.

What Miss me?   Why didn't the radio bluetooth on the Device Manager?

Yes. I saw that before posting.

I used a mini-PCI card PCI-E and that caused the problem.  I inserted directly into the motherboard and bluetooth and wireless networking worked fine.

  • Ralink WIreless adapter N TouchSmart 600xt (600-600/t): problem w / 5 GHz 802.11n and DD - WRT fw

I really didn't have a good experience with HP support trying to figure why my wireless 5 GHz N is not yet detected by my new 600xt.  I tried to load the latest Ralink drivers and it made no difference.  There are a few settings in Device Manager on 5 GHz so I have reason to believe that it does not support 5 GHz as some previous TouchSmart users had trouble with.

This network is detected by my Dell laptop almost 2 years very well, so I didn't expect this.  My environment really demands N connectivity and even though I have a structured wiring all through my house, it is not likely that the location of this machine will get wired anytime soon.

I'm using DD - WRT firmware on a WRT600N router.  The DD - WRT software is a 2.4 version, but it's not the newest.  It is:

    DD - WRT v24 - sp2 (07/21/09) std - build 12533

If someone has already tried a newer version or more old firmware thanks for posting your experiences.

I had checked that the country in Ralink settings setting should be #7.  Nothing else seems not to apply to this problem.

I just got my 600xt the other day, but before I bought it I was wondering if 802.11n adapter that support 5 GHz.  It is my understanding that not all do.  I found a card for the 600-1050 version that says this:

    Integrated Bluetooth and WLAN 802.11b/g/n single-band (2.4 Ghz), 2 x 2 featuring MIMO technology

So I didn't even try helping with my band of 5 GHz on my router.  If yours is as well, so you will not be able to use the 5 GHz.

    Hope that helps.

I just bought a new PC (foxconn) who has a 802.11n wireless Lan card, my connection is very poor but my connection on my laptop compac and iPad are excellent. Is there a way I can get a better connection with this lAN card?

    Hello

Check with the assistance of FoxConn, their documentation and online drivers. Don't assume new products
    have up-to-date drivers.

    Are all Windows 7 computers?

The router may also need a firmware update so check with its creator.

On my new WRT1900ACS (ACv2, loaded with the latest firmware 1.0.0.169041) I want to force the two bands in 802.11n only, but I can not because the choice of "802.11n only" does not appear in the drop-down lists.

Is enough to remind me about the need to conduct a site survey - and I realize that these figures will stretch based on the environment - looking for instructions and values of the signal, if published.

In addition, it is understood that different customers may have different sensitivity - no need to go either

  • Do a factory reset on my AirPort Extreme 802.11n resets my country code?

Do a factory reset on my AirPort Extreme 802.11n resets my country code?

Wireless Diagnostics warns on codes of countries in conflict.

I ve got an AirPort Express 802.11n and an AirPort Extreme 802.11n

The country code of the Airport Express is ok, but Airport Extreme shows me different options.

    Any suggestions?

    Please

A factory default reset will set the area code of the AirPort Extreme back to the initial setting that it was when it was new, but this should not be necessary because you can change the country setting without having to perform a factory default reset.

You can see the options available for your AirPort Extreme by opening AirPort Utility, by clicking on the image of the AirPort Extreme, and then click Edit in the window that appears.

Click on the Wireless tab at the top of the window, and then click Wireless Options near the bottom of the window. Click on the country selection box to see the options available for your AirPort Extreme country.

Apple is doing to "regionalize" airport routers, so, for example, that if you bought the AirPort Extreme in the AirPort Express to the United States and Europe, the country on the extreme options will only show of European countries, so that the country on the version options American Express shows countries in the Western hemisphere.

I read your post about the way your computer displays a pop-up message prompting you to update the installed wireless card. I'd be happy to help you in this case!

If you encounter any issues connecting to a wireless network on your computer, I wouldn't count the update as crucial. If your computer is having problems connecting to the network, even if the problem is intermittent, it may be a good idea to install the update.

I hope this helps, and if you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to post back!
