  • PowerShell has stopped the work and high CPU usage

    My laptop recently started to operate erratic, slow, very slow start as well as general use... even the cursor was glitch.

    A recurring error is "powershell has stopped working".  and "the security will not allow this download."

    I did a defrag and clean the c drive... I'm not very tech savvy, so I took it to Geek Squad, who said that they could not recreate the problems.

    They made an optimization, malware, cleaned and changed the browser...

    I opened the monitor cpu and the cpu running very high, sometimes 100%, and the laptop gets hot, even though I have a cooler under him.   If I disable the internet CPU breaks down... when I turn on the internet that it goes back immediately.   It all started around November 15 and I have no idea why.

    I am running windows 7 and have a HP Pavilion quad core with 6 GB.

    When I ran spybot there any spy software, but a huge amount of temporary files.

    The Geek Squad said it was a virus, but they had cleaned up a bit of malware.

    I have no idea what to do now?

  • transfer of samba and high CPU

    Hello

    We make the transfer of files on SAMBA between 2 windows machine.  (a Windows XP and a Win Server 2003 SP2).
    There are 4 files transferred in parallel.
    The transfer rate is about 70 MB/sec.
    Immediately we see #4 to 20% CPU and the CPU continues to increase over time up to 100%, how much the machine hangs until we have stop the transfer on the source.
    Process Explorer means that the 'SYSTEM' process is consuming the CPU.
    Kernrate indicates threads are ntkrnla.exe and hal.  Seems to be the core partner.
    Is there a known issue connecting to samba?  How to twist Win2k3 to not die?
    Thank you
    Gilles.

    Hi Gillies,

    Your question is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for Windows Server on TechNet. Please ask your question in the Forums in TechNet Windows Server.

  • Should have 8 000 emails in my Inbox Windows Mail (Vista) considerably slow down my computer with 3 GB of RAM and trigger alerts from Norton of "the High CPU use by Windows Mail.

    In addition, about half of my 8,000 e-mails are unread. Thus, the fact of having 4 000 unread emails in my mailbox Windows (Vista) slow down my computer more than if they were 4 000 read emails?

    If so, is there a quick way to mark all read emails as read in Windows Mail (Vista)?      .. .in windows Live Mail (Vista)?

    Even if these unread e-mails degrade the speed, is there a quick way to mark all read emails as read in Windows Mail (Vista)?... .in windows Live Mail (Vista)?

    I also regularly get an alert Norton of 'Use of disc high by Microsoft Windows Search Indexer.'  Gravity is the next, and what can I do to fix the problem?

    Finally, I have a lot of folders: would have 2,000 emails in the Inbox Windows (Vista) slow down a computer more than if 2 000 mails were one or more files?   This change of response if the e-mail is unread vs bed?

    #2: the Inbox is accessible by your computer whenever he asks new messages. The fact of having 1,000 messages in the Inbox slow it down? I have no personal experience, since I never have more than a dozen or messages in my Inbox, but it is so likely. If you have lots of free space on the hard disk, the messages would be better in another folder (s). Even if you create more WinMail's local folders and move messages to them.

    I would also say this. Try to compact and repair the database.

  • Mozzilla not respounding high cpu use plugin - container.exe computer is totally locked

    I start up firefox, and go new. Sometimes it allows me to watch for a while. without warning mozilla not respounding computer is completely locked. I try to stop the program (mozilla) sometimes it allows me, and other times it takes several tries to stop. Mozilla said plugin - container.exe CPU high usage. Happened several times in recent weeks. I updated several times without success.

    Like most of the commonly used web plugin, Flash is the most likely the cause. I don't know why the problems increased with Flash with the combination of Firefox 41 and 19 Flash. I think that people who work.

    For now, I suggest the following to minimize potential problems with Flash in your troubleshooting:

    (1) to avoid unnecessary pain on the sites where the Flash is not really essential, try to set the Flash on Click-to-Play (Ask 'activation'). This will delay the Flash start on a page, until you approve.

    To set 'Ask to activate', open the page modules using either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

    In the left column, click on Plugins. Search 'Shockwave Flash' and always change 'enable' to 'ask to activate '.

    With this setting, when you visit a site that wants to use the Flash, you should see a notification icon in the address bar and usually (but not always) one of the following values: a link in a gray rectangle dark in the page or an information bar sliding between the toolbar and in the page area.

    The plugin notification in the address bar icon usually resembles a little Lego block, dark gray. (If it is red, Flash must update.)

    The delay in the activation of Flash can help distinguish between the problems caused on the initial page load, put in folds and script activation vs Flash/loading bar.

    If you see a good reason to use Flash, and the site looks trustworthy, you can go ahead and click on the notification icon in the address bar to allow Flash. You can trust the site for the time being or permanently.

    But some pages use Flash only for tracking or play ads, so if you do not see an immediate need for Flash, feel free to ignore the notification! He will just stand here in case you want to use it later.

    (2) consider rolling back at the end of the extended support of Flash 18. We make the security updates, which you can find if you scroll down half way down this page: https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html - it's for plugin-based browsers, MSI or EXE format should work.

    Most likely, you need to remove Flash 19 before this installer works. This article has a link to the uninstaller program: https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/.../uninstall-flash-player-windows.html.

  • High CPU use/Slow Performance after you install the updates of Windows

    I run Vista Business 32-bit.

    After you install many Windows updates in the last few days, I've known very slow performance after the system worked for a while. Resource monitor shows 70-100% CPU usage, even when you run all the apps (that I know of). This makes everyhting grind to a halt, same trip that the mouse jerky movements. I ran several complete system with McAfee anti virus scans and not found problems (using the latest software). The detail showed the so-called ", PID4 NT kernel and system" using 18% avialable CPU capacity, but this process is not always shown to use much more capacity when the slow performance occurs. Nothing else don't use much capacity CPU, I see.

    More recently, the capacity of the CPU became crazy, jumping from zero to 100% usage in a back a suite oscillation. When I shut down and restart, performance improves, but erodes little by little over time.

    Is this a sign of a virus, or is it a problem with the recent Windows updates or some kind of conflict with my software such as McAfee? How do I tell me what to do? Anyone else have this problem with the recent Windows updates?

    Help!  Thank you!!

    McAfee applications (and Norton) are known for not not upgrade (or uninstalling) itself.

    1. download the McAfee Consumer Product Removal, save it to your desktop tool: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. now run this triple McAfee fix: http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507

    NOTE: Step #2 McAfee fix run the removal tool, you have already downloaded in my step #1 above.

    4 IMPORTANT! => After the reinstallation of the McAfee application (step #3 of the McAfee fix), manually & repeatedly updated the McAfee application, until you get a prompt "no update more".

    5. open Internet Explorer (only) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 & run the difficulty.

    6. OPTIONAL: For good measure, pen also Internet Explore (only) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 & race that secure it in DEFAULT and modes and AGGRESSIVE. [1]

    7 restart a last time & test.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    [1] full Disclosure: the difficulty operating in AGGRESSIVE mode will remove your update history but not the list of installed updates.
  • memory leak Winlogon.exe and high CPU usage
    I use Windows XP SP3. I'm leaking memory in winlogon.exe (about 5 M/hour). In addition, the CPU usage spikes to 50% of all 6 seconds. The file is properly signed so probably not a virus.
    This problem started after the application of last weeks patches.
    I seriously doubt that winlogon has a memory leak or people around the world would be screaming about it... and they are not.
    If this is what a thing look like, then you have another problem - probably a malware infection, or what you are currently using antivirus/antimalware protection is afflicted.
    Looking at previous answers, I would say that McAfee is afflicted, and it is already a well know that McAfee is a memory and CPU hog and you may want to consider replacing with something of less intrusive as Microsoft Security Essentials (do you use McAfee?).
    Since the Microsoft Answers forum does not have any kind of information system request when a new question is asked, we know absolutely nothing about your system.  Not knowing the basic information a problem prolongs the frustration and the agony of these issues.
    Thank you MS Answers, allowing the resolution of simple problems as frustrating and a lot of time as possible.
    Provide information on your system, the better you can:
    What is your system brand and model?
    What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?
    What is your Internet browser and version?
    Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..
    What do you see (exactly) that you don't think you should see, and when you see it?
    If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?
    No matter what you use for malware protection, follow these steps:
    Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs at:
    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
    They can be uninstalled later if you wish.
    The scans by operating clean, restart and fix any problems.
  • high cpu use-50-85% kt core uses it. can be linked to an update of windows that will not be installed. Vista Home premium 32 bit service pack 2.
    Hello
    1. are you facing problems during the installation of Windows update?
    2. don't you make changes to the computer until the problem occurred?
    I suggest you to try the steps below and check if it helps.
    Method 1: Try to put your computer in a clean boot state, and check to see if the same problem happens.
    By setting your boot system minimum state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.
    How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
    Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.
    Method 2: Try to scan your computer for the Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.
    The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.
    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
    Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.
    Hope this information is useful.
  • command prompt and high cpu utilization problems
    I have an Acer Aspire laptop. Windows 7-64 bit. My CPU usage has been quite erratic for months. She sometimes becomes up to 4 or 5%, but most of the time, he is running between 50 and 100% (I have a counter on my desk). I've been running all kinds of tools and cleaning methods. I had McAfee antivirus for a prior year of minimal, but renewed problems a few months ago and found strange and annoying that he wouldn't be updated every day while I was working. I assumed something was wrong with her, so I replaced it with a program that I got for free with another purchase from Best Buy... Trend Micro, I think it was called. Well, it appeared that Trend Micro used more process and CPU than McAfee. At that time, I thought it would be safer and cleaner for Microsoft Security Essentials TM trade. I also have CCleaner installed and I run it every other day or two. I also run r-kill and tdsskiller a few times but never found something dangerous. I removed everything that I felt uncomfortable unused programs were safe to remove. The last thing that I see and which seems odd to me is that, at startup, a "command prompt" icon will appear briefly in my taskbar and then quickly go to 'start' 'recent '... I have never seen this before so it seems weird, like a clue any. Also in the last few days, usually online, but also with Solitair Windows offline. Either the cursor will freeze or the screen freezes making useless cursor, even for a moment, and sometimes I'll just "end task." I'm not a gamer, I mainly watch movies and videos... Try, anyway! Thanks in advance for the help!
  • High CPU use InDesign CC on Macbook Pro
    Recently, InDesign CC on my Mac started periodically fortification CPU usage without reason decernible. When sitting idle without documentation open, ID uses anywhere between 100 to 190% of CPU. When you use it with a document open, this will draw up to 200-290%. This, of course, creates a lot of heat that sting fans. The spikes occur with regularity, usually every 10 minutes.
    It is very worrying when my laptop fans run at full speed for hours at a time when the workload must be low. The fact that he uses as much time CPU when sitting idle is clearly a problem.
    What happens and how can I fix it? I would rather Cook eggs on my machine.
    I can understand the instructions, but I don't know how to solve these problems.  My first question is NVIDIA Graphics quits working.  I arrived at the place where I can repair it and he just tells your computer couldn't download the solution.
    My second question is High CPU use of them and warning that closed just from my computer.  Is that what I can do to help the problem?
    To a high utilization of the processor first open Vistas ' performance and reliability monitor "and see which consumes the most resources.
    Y at - it no particular message that you see about NVidia? It happens when the execution or enforcement of any application specific/s?  Some old material (graphics cards) will not face the games and images high rates etc and can overheat.
    If it's a specific NVidia problem then I would contact the manufacturer of PCs and NVidia for the drivers updated and advice.
