I received a call from South end businesses 201-888-9112 saying: they received a message from MS on malware on my computer. This looks like a scam. They are part of the SP as they say?
Microsoft never cold call customers. If you had an appointment for the removal of the malware with Microsoft technology, that you have been informed at a meeting with the support of lower level and if they could not fix your problem that they would make an appointment for you, for the higher level of support by phone that the time-out period is 24 hours.

ThinkPad X 201-starting slow Windows 7 when it is connected to X 200 Dock ban

We have deployed just a X 201 new Thinkpad to an end user. When it is connected to the docking station (X 200 ban) and push us power, it takes 2 minutes for Windows starts to load. The Lenovo will immediately come to the start screen, and then turns off for 2 minutes and then start the Windows logo appears finally. When not plugged into the docking station, Windows starts fine. The problem occurs only when it is connected to the docking station. Someone has an idea how to speed this up? Thank you.

I saw the same problem in the past with a HP laptop. They replaced almost every part until they finally replaced the CPU that solved the problem. I'm not saying it's the same problem in your case, but I remember the HP laptop just because we found it very strange and the CPU was probably the last part, we thought that could be the reason. I would recommend to contact Lenovo services on the computer as ecetim already suggested. It could be a DVD - RW is defective as you said and no doubt the first part they will propose to replace.

Impossible to reinstall the OS from recovery CD
In recent months, my daughters Notebook has almost to the ground to stop, I did the usual defragmentation, virus scan, AdAware, Spybot etc and even turned off many startup files. So now she has brought from the University I backed up everyhting and thought I would start from scratch, reformat the drive and reload the software.
I put the disc in the hit 'C', in accordance with the instructions, it starts to load from the CD the % bar begins to show, and then it just stops. What I am doing wrong? I installed XP on a normal PC with OEM windows versions, but it looks the same, so I can only assume I'm doing something wrong.
Any advice would be much appreciated

The Toshiba Recovery CD contains a ghost image file.
This is not the same thing as an another computer from different manufacturers OEM versions.Usually the boot from the restore CD should start the installation procedure. You should see the window 2 modes. Standard and expert mode (with old recovery CD)
Hmmm try to format the HARD drive first and then delete the entire partitions.
To boot from the recovery CD, and then try again.I hope that the HARD drive is ok and there is no hardware malfunction.
A question: have you tried to boot from another CD of Windows? It would be very interesting to know if the other run CD. -
Satellite Pro A40 guard stop with the ATI driver error message
My girls having some problems with her laptop and get back to Uni at the end of week for me to have a look on.
Basically, he keeps closing sometimes with an ATI graphics driver error message. I had updated the memory last Christmas and resinstalled from scratch.
My first impressions are it is overheating and I probably need to clean the fan, was wondering if anyone had any ideas?

Keith (South end)Satellite Pro A40 is about 3 years old and it is possible that the unit needs to be cleaned. If the appliance is used intensively, I assume that there is more dust inside. By overheating of the appliance stops suddenly without any warning.
As a first step the device. I don't know if it's the right idea to do it alone, but if you are familiar with laptops, you can give a try. After having done that, your daughter should carefully watch what happens the next few days.

I just did a clean install from the recovery disk hoping this may cure the problem of him take 10 minutes so that it starts on the desktop, but it always takes some time. I can now assume that I have a clean update, I only have the bare minimum installed and certainly not virus, spyware, malware or anything else, that does not in my view I had, but felt I had to go through this excersise anyway.
Although he has only 256Meg of RAM it is always used to start much more quickly a few months back so I was wondering if Toshiba had driver updates that had addressed this issue? I looked in the driver downloads, but I can't say if what publishes the update made dealing with.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Maybe the performance is reduced to avoid overheating.
Maybe you have to clean your cooling system.Either by the way, you should think of the memory upgrade. 256 MB is not really much.

updating Win 7 home pre never returns
damaged my laptop so set up another and put my hard drive in it. crashed a lot then found it viper sw virus that was causing problems. A couple of days my Droid began to experience problems. It was fine for a month or two, but randomly, he realizes the connected USB sound several times over and over, even sound like he was interrupted.

The error log doesn't provide very useful information.
According to this error log, the simulation was running OK, but the burning process has not been started.
In such cases, it is very difficult to say why it happens. Maybe the drive is damage and cannot calibrate the lens correctly or using media is not compatible.
Burning the process depands on the fields and the data that prefer to burn.
Data, CD, DVDs are encrypted and it s is not possible to burn and copy it.
In other cases, you can also try to burn media with low speed and not with 24 x.But to sentence case you the reader has a malfunction and you need to replace ;(

It is not possible to make a Skype call to 086 or 0800 numbers in South Africa.

It is not possible to call this number + 27 860 300 999 from a mobile phone or fixed outside South Africa.

But, when you are in South Africa, you can call the number + 27 860 300 999 from a mobile phone as a landline, but not from Skype.
Many companies in South Africa are moving away from the old numbers 011 and 012 to the 086 new numbering.

A friend of mine called me yesterday because he noticed the same issue. After awakening, he saw just a blue strip instead of the task bar and the screen was black.
Only solution was to press the POWER button and hold for a few seconds. On this way, you make your laptop to SWITCH OFF. Laptop and press the power button again will start as usual. After reboot, everything will be OK again.
Please do the same. If you have more problems to write again.

Satellite 5100/201: problem with the video card or overheating?

I have problems with video on a 5100/201 Satellite. It seems that when I press the left side above the graphics card or press a key on the keyboard on this side, the screen begins to be scrambled and vertical lines appear. To end Windows XP resets giving a critical error on the device and the video goes to 640 x 480. Same thing happens when you run Linux Suse 9.0.
My question is what is the cause: map graphic damaged or overheating due to the fan not as effective as originally (my laptop is nearly two years old. Do you have someone be able to find the cause and solved the problem, also with the assistance of Toshiba?

I think the problem on your laptop depends on the fan.
A colleague on mine has a 5100-603 and had similar problems.
