2011 27 inch iMac screen will Dim

Greetings,

For the last month, I noticed my screen goes dark suddenly on not the case. During this time he has no use of graphics heavy just reading the news or update notes. I tried to remedy the situation by making the PRAM reset to enjoy and SMC. However, I am quite surprising that a computer that has cost more than $2500,00 would not that way. I researched and found that the probable cause was the LED backlight Board, I also found that the replacement of this Board is very costly and unfair in my opinion.

I am wrong in my analysis of the members of the LED backlight, is it a reminder for a free replacement. I am disappointed that this is happening on such a machine than iMac 2011.

  • 2011 21 inch iMac won't start after the SSD upgrade

Recently, I upgraded my hard drive for an SSD via a computer repair business in my neighborhood, I also upgraded the ram, but I don't think it's in the case. On a two weeks after the upgrade, my computer don't turn on more. I took it to the genius bar and they told me that the DSS had "failed." So of course, I took my computer to the computer repair company and they ran some tests, discovered that the hard disk does not (according to them, he only read this way because the apple store has run the test for a normal hard drive and not an SSD). I'm not super computer savvy, so I took their word for it.

Now, however, it has been nearly a month and my computer refuses to activate once again. Previously, it has worked well, the fans were running at full blast - what I knew would be a problem (although the repairman told me that they 'fixed' this issue too). So the first time, I downloaded a program called SSD fan control and set the fans to run in silent mode. This second time around, I realized that it was probably a bad idea because it could lead to overheating, so I put manually the fan speed so that we could hear still run, but just not as loud.

I tried the reset SMC, but no result. Right now, I unplugged everything including disconnect it from the power strip.

Any other experience of power with a new SSD failure? Is there anything else I could try at home before contacting the computer again repair business? I would not be able to reach at least until tomorrow, and I'm really curious to know how they managed to get my computer back on the first time.

Also, I've been out of my warranty period for about a year, so that's why I thought that I was not risking too much by exchanging the original for one SSD drive.

First of all, the original in Middle 2011 iMac hard drive had a temperature sensor integrated in the drive.  More new or replacement of those who do not.

Other World Computing sells an Apple certified temperature sensor that plugs into the SATA cable.

I just put a 2 GB Western Digital Black in mine, with the sensor.

I suggest all first, reinstall the OEM disc and see if it boots.

Put the SSD in an external enclosure and see if it runs...

I have just set up another monitor in the office. Are Dell monitors, the original is a 23 "as the news is a 22" monitor. The problem is that the screen on the new monitor will sporadically dark for 1-2 seconds at a time. Anyone know what causes this problem?

    Hi Will,

    Sorry for the late reply.

It can occur due to lack of updates, damaged or corrupt drivers and settings on the monitors.

I suggest to update the display drivers for computer and monitors by visiting its respective manufacturers Web sites download and install the latest drivers and check.

What is the brand and model of the computer?

  • NB100 screen will Dim - backlight not working not

My new NB100 (he was about 3 weeks) just started going dark at random intervals. The screen backlight turns off. In a bright room, I can still see the outline of the graphical user interface very weakly. I tried to re-initialization and it's still dark when I reboot. I plugged an external display and which works very well, so there is nothing wrong with the graphics card. This morning I turned it on and it worked for about 1 hour then just erased on me while I was using it.

    Hello

If an external monitor works properly on your laptop it s a display problem internal. The FL Inverter control the backlight of a display, so I think that this part needs to be replaced.

As Akuma, you should go to an authorized service provider. They can order all Toshiba parts and technicians can share the UPS FL.

  • screen will Dim when moving the mouse

This also occurs when you use the Panel on the surface of the computer (have no idea of what would be called). Press a key wakes the computer to the top. How can I disable this behavior of the mouse?

It is with a Macbook Pro with OS X (version before the current version)

Not really answering my own question but to add more information. This problem occurs if I move the mouse to the bottom right of the screen.

  • XPS L702x screen will dim after driver installation intel HD

    Hello

When installing Intel HD 2000/3000 drivers latest (or even older), as soon as the computer starts normal windows (cleaning windows install 7 Home premium), the screen darkens. I can see the backlight burning, but it's just show black.

When the Win safe mode boot, the screen works. After removing the Intel HD drivers, windows is running in normal mode with the default VGA drivers.

Same question if I install Intel HD + Nvidia graphics drivers.

Tried even with Windows XP (not designed for this PC). A few first boots graphics intel has worked, but then the screen distorted upward with colorboxes/lines and doesn't work even once in safe mode.

Update of the newest BIOS's, and old drivers tested, changed HDD even.

Or is it some conflicts between different drivers that is the cause?

Too bad, it was caused by a faulty RAM module that left no Bios Update.

Removed a stick and now it's perfect!

If you put expensive RAM and/or incorrect RAM then Yes. iMacs are very sensitive to the RAM and you must use quality RAM, more experienced on these forums users use OWC (www.macsales.com) or critical (direct purchase). RAM should also be installed in pairs. If you purchased anything else, then after a report of EtreCheck of your system and we can look for obvious problems.

If you're like me and upgraded your iMac that came with a cd/dvd drive internal... so he has to come out to give way to the fusion or the SSD drive, do NOT buy the apple superdrive.  It will work with your computer!

Think I'll get a laptop samsung...

Ironic, isn't it? Own Apple SuperDrive will not work with Apple computers. Shame you don't check here first that we would have warned you. Return Apple overpriced and buy a nice third-party player for a third of the price. I love the LG units. You can consider a loading plate because they are more reliable, and you can use these pesky disc when you get one.

  • 27 inch Cinema Display will work ok with end of 2013 imac

    Hello

I have the chance to get a Cinema Display 27 inches for a good price. Will it work ok with my iMac 27 inch end of 2013? If so, is there a difference between this model and the current model of PQ crush?

    Thank you

    Hi, Richard.

I understand that you want to use a movie with your iMac screen compatibility.  Without knowing the technical data of the movie screen and looking at your specifications, this view should work with your end of 2013 27-inch iMac.  Your iMac has two Thunderbolt ports that can support the Thunderbolt screens and output Mini DisplayPort.  Below, you will find more information on the specifications of your system and the use of several screens with your iMac.

    Any suggestions?

So from what I can tell the model have built in analog audio input, you would probably need some kind of third-party USB audio interface. You may be able to record in mono with a suitable adapter because the port is apparently compatible with Apple headphones for example.

  • Replacement HARD drive does not not in 27-inch imac 2012

Hello apologies if this question has been asked and answered before.

I've owned a Mac for many years, I'm comfortable shooting them to make any necessary repairs. My most recent Mac a 2012 13.2 27-inch iMac was a fusion player was not part of the HARD drive, the merger fell apart after the reconstruction of the merger and restore the system, the HARD drive failed this time, I could hear the sticktion in the drive so that was it. I had to put a replacement isn't a problem (so I thought) I did some research and bought a Seagate 3 to 7200 NAS drive to begin with, I thought I leave my machine on ground why not a NAS drive for the operating system.

I had then the car adapter OWC with heat sensor, after getting the iMac apart that I replaced the drive, something I've done before on other Mac waiting for the machine to start with no OS instead, all show the iMac is the SSD it recognizes not the replacement drive at all no prompted me to format the new drive.

I spent some time trying to figure out the problem to reset PRAM, put mode target to see if the disc looks for another mac, no luck in the terminal, the 'diskutil list' only would show only the SSD.

I opened the iMac this time put in a Seagate HDD 7200 3TO standard before putting back together I ran the iMac with attached to another screen. It doesn't seem to matter what I put in the iMac in the car it does not recognize them, I was putting in old spare parts to see if it was a problem with the current firmware. I started thinking to the question could have been the SATA cable until I plugged the original drive in. Immediately the old disk could be seen and mounted perfectly in a last effort I got a model the same SSHD Seagate I checked is intended to be supported with this type of iMac still nothing ditch.

I am at my wits end with this issue, it is as if the original is savvy to the system some how I read that 2009 iMacs had problem s similar I don't understand other iMac of the same model that the mine had the problem of fan speed and any player could be used. It aims to be a kind of firmware I am destined to load in the new drive.

My options are very limited and for once I feel lost and let down by apple if it is worth $800 and $1000 to get the same 1 TB per apple apple player or as RESTful seems much this repair is already in me for $1200 (I have cracked the screen of origin)

If any advice is much appreciated. My idea lasts is put back together and just start the operating system on an external drive to USB 3. The current SSD is too small for my image of time machine only 128 GB to restore to.

    Concerning

    digi79

    A few thoughts here.

Is it possible that the OWC adapter is faulty or well you don't connect it correctly? http://youtu.be/iWyJxnBM-Qu Unless I read wrong looks like the original drive is recognized and original SATA cable, but when you add the adapter into the mix, it does not work?

Have you tried partitioning and firmatting the disk before you install it? Sometimes, who will do the trick.

My iMac screen have a gray veil. What is happen?

    Try a reboot.

Make a backup using Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure that data files can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.

Try to set up another admin user account to see if the same problem persists. If back to my Mac is enabled in system preferences, the guest account will not work. The intention is to see if it is specific to an account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

Isolate a problem by using a different user account

If the problem is still there, try to start safe mode using your usual account.  Disconnect all devices except those necessary for the test. Shut down the computer and then put it up after a 10 second wait. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the SHIFT key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. Startup is considerably slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a check for directory and disables all start-up and connection, among other things. When you restart normally, the initial restart may be slower than normal. If the system is operating normally, there may be 3rd party applications that pose a problem. Try to delete/disable the third-party applications after a reboot using the UN-Installer. For each disable/remove, you need to restart if you do them all at once.
