2531 Z60m clocked only at 798 mhz?

Hello

Had my Z60m again for about 5 years now but I upgraded the ram to 2 gig. Just to check, I installed cpu - z and found the ram is fine, but the processor run only 798 MHz. This is an intel pentium M 760 2.00 GHZ. I tried to find the settings in the bios to set it but can not find anything other than the speed step stuff. The multiplier is x6.0, bus speed MHz, 532,0 MHz FSB and core VID 133.0 is 0.988v. Anyone know how to make the processor running at its rated speed?

Thank you

Welcome to the forum!

The CPU will run at full speed when sufficiently loaded, what you see is the Intel SpeedStep Technology at its best.

Open Firefox windows 30 and watch a video about the 31st on youtube, you will see this processor to steal up to 1998 Mhz without delay...

Good luck.

The answer is here... thanks all and who is responsible for:

    http://forums.Toshiba.com/T5/Qosmio-laptops/598-MHz/TD-p/194566

The key is a utility called 'pom200t1 '.

    You will need the following.

A floppy disk or if you do not have an external floppy drive, or if you are common sense to be able to boot a file from a CD player.
You must also WinImage, as all files that you download come as .ima files
    Download pom200t1 - V1.5.zip and pom200t1.zip (if if doesn't work either).

    You can find them here:

http://www.stormpaintball.com/Toshiba/pm765.bin (this one is a ditch last attempt).
Then follow the instructions on the site I posted before:

Symptom: CPU remains constantly 598 MHz.

    * Process: *.

    (1) boot in the BIOS. (Press "Esc" during the boot process, before the loading of the operating system, but after having entered your password, if you use the startup password protection).

    2) look under 'Other' category.

    (3) if the motherboard does not have enough information about the CPU, the category 'Dynamic CPU frequency Mode' appear on (you won't see it).

If the laptop is in this state that he won't ever faster than 598 Mhz until you perform the following procedure.
Note: Although this utility said it's for a Toshiba Portege M200, the particular difficulty you need may work on other Toshiba laptops.
He has worked on 3 different Toshiba Satellite Pro M15 S405s, but * USE at YOUR OWN RISK *.

    (1) start Windows and create the startup disk in the pom200t1.exe file.

    (2) boot from the diskette you just made.

    (3) in the menu, select the initial repair option 2 "set config".

    (4) in the following menu, select option 1 'Initial cofiguration"(misspelled)

    (5) after a few seconds, you should see "Writing a file is over!" and the laptop restarts automatically without asking for confirmation.

    (6) when restarting the laptop go back into the BIOS and look under 'Other' category. You should now see the "dynamic CPU frequency Mode". Make sure it is set to "Dynamically switchable" for the CPU limitation.

    7) restart Windows and make sure that the CPU can throttle in normal conditions. The Intel SpeedStep technology icon should now be in the systray. Go to the Toshiba power management / Power Saver Properties and update all of your methods to save power to use technology SpeedStep that you prefer (fixed or automatic) and mount all caps speed processor, or you can go above 798 MHz because cursors will always be to their previous settings (4 or less), while they can now go up to 7. Let me know how you go.
I have fixed the CPU now just need to find out why my fan only works when I activate it manually!

  • Satellite L20-101: I think as 667 Mhz module runs only with 266 Mhz

    Hello

    I bought 2 x 1024Mo DDR2-RAM for my L20-101.
First I tried 533 MHz, but the laptop does not work with them, so I bought the
    Version of 667 MHz.
CPU - Z says that the FSB:DRAM - ratio is 1:2 If the two are in fact run with just 266 MHz.

I've updated the BIOS with the latest version of the Toshiba-home page, but nothing has changed.

    So finally, my questions:
1 perhaps CPU - Z is false (I don't think so...), are there any other good programms to check the parameters of memory?

    2. If the values in the program are correct: where can I change the value of the report? Is it possible to see more than a few settings in the BIOS or is it a rider?

    Thanks for your help

    Hello

First of all it is important to mention that the Satellite L20-101 supports a FSB of 533 MHz.
    So the DDR2 400/533 256 MB (PA3389U - 1 M 25) and DDR2 400/533 memory modules 512 MB (PA3412U - 1 M 51) should work and are 100% compatible!

If you use the module of 667 Mhz, it runs only at 533 Mhz due to the limitation of the front side bus.

In addition, I think you have misunderstood something.
Here are the modules DD2 and so the CPU - Z recognizes the speed of the modules as 266 MHz (2 x 266 = 532 Mhz)
If everything seems to be ok!

PS; You can also use the other tool called Everest home edition. It s a freeware and very useful to run a diagnosis system and equipment

  • Re: Satellite Pro L300D - 11O 800 MHz RAM installed, only to 667 MHz

I recently bought a Satellite Pro L300D-11O, which has a single stick of 1 GB 800 MHz RAM installed. However this RAM work only at 667 MHz. I checked this in Linux and Windows Vista.

The laptop is announced as to have 800 MHz RAM on this page:

    http://UK.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/JSP/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=UK&BV_UseBVCook ie = Yes & PRODUCT_ID = 1055796

The manual of the user who wrote:

"PC2-6400 memory module works as PC2-5300 speed the GL40 Express Chipset Express chipset/GL965"

I don't know what chipset I have, and it would be surprised that this would be the case that the above Web site explicitly states RAM 800 MHz.

    Can someone tell me please?

    Hello!

Now I'm a bit confused of Mr. I think you did search in the wrong user's manual because the Satellite L300D has no Intel chipset.
On the Toshiba site, you can download the manual for Satellite L300D:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online downloads support & -online download user manual

I think that your chipset only supports 667 MHz. normally the RAM always works on the highest speed that is supported by the chipset.
Check the specifications with Everest or PC Wizard 2008.

  • Portege R600 memory to operate only at 667 MHz?

    Hi all

Memory of my R600-10 q is PC6400 800 MHz but it only runs at speed PC5300 / 667 Mhz.
He has been in for repair with Toshiba for that matter, but he returned unrepaired with the explanation that the memory at 800 MHz in the R600 is only meant to run at 667 MHz.

    That don't make sense!
Why Toshiba would install PC6400 memory in their machines only to the downclock to 667 MHz?

Can someone please confirm if their R600 only works at 667 MHz?

    > Is my R600-10 q memory PC6400 800 MHz but it only runs at speed PC5300 / 667 Mhz.
What is the bus (FSB) front-end?

You should know that the memory would be valid only at the same speed as the FSB.
For example; memory are 800 Mhz but the FSB 667 Mhz
In this case, the FSB would clock down from memory at 667 Mhz

    That s all

    Hello

I bought a Dothan M755 2 GHZ processor for my M200. I installed the CPU with no problems, but now I have a: this CPU only runs at 600 MHZ. It seems to me that it works on the power saving mode, but I have the tablet on power supply.

I tried an option in the bios to health, but there is nothing. My version is (seen in the top right corner in the bios): "ACPI BIOS Version 1.80"

My OS is Windows 7 Prof

Y at - it a possibility (update of the BIOS? etc.) to fix?

    Thanks for your support!

    Hey,.

That s the speed step function and the kicks in the multiplier 5 x to save energy.

Check the BIOS if you can find the setting on the speed step and turn it off. If you do not have such an option in the BIOS choose another plan and the value 100% minimum processor state. It will always run at 2.0 GHz.

    Check this box!

no idea if this is right?

    Jim

Sorry mate but I put t understand what you want to know?

REALTEK RTL8191SE wireless network card support the standard 802.11 B, G and N.
So, you could use and to connect to 802. 11B G and WiFi N if your Wlan router would support this WLan protocols too.
Only WLan protocols support a certain frequency

If you want to know the details about 802.11 B, G or N project then you could check in Wikipedia.

I found some people here in the forum who reported a similar problem.

In this case the ASP must be contacted for the new update

  • Satellite L305D-S5869: do RAM quick to announced 800 MHz only 667

I don't know if anyone has come across, but I had a Satellite L305D - S5869 7-8 months, I bought it because it was a VERY rare laptop, at the time with 800 MHz DDR2. Well yesterday I bought a new Satellite, L305D-S5940, almost the same laptop, but I had for the same price so that I can sell my old one. It also announced ram 800 MHz in it. I even went to the counter after that I bought and asked if I could use a screwdriver to open it and check the ram, which was indeed pc6400.

Well, I came home and set up the laptop and the first thing I noticed was that the laptop was 2.1 GHz, not 2.16 GHz as advertised, not a huge deal, but was a little upset and yest I know the cpu speed goes up and down by its use, 2.10 GHz is the max he's going. So, I went ahead and CPUz RAM and not only discovered that it was a 2.10 GHz cpu, but the ram was also running ONLY at 667 MHz.

Now IM upset and decided that she was not worth keeping and that he would take back, but for the hell of it, I ran cpuz on my other laptop, and of course the ram only runs at 667 MHz in that one also! Even though I know that there are 800 MHz ram in it.

It is nothing but false advertising of Toshiba, has anyone noticed cela or complained to toshiba on their outright lying and false advertising?

    Hello

I agree with the s of Akuma and what he suggested.
The fact is that the speed of the RAM may be limited by the chipset.
Even you use fast RAM modules, these modules will not work with the best performance if the chipset does not support that speed.

The same may happen if both modules would be supports of different speeds. If you want to use a 667 Mhz module, a module made of 800 Mhz, then the two would go only to 667 Mhz.

These are the two reasons why the fastest modules would be much slower

  • USB-7856R shows a 40 MHz clock...

    Hello

We are looking to buy a USB-7856R to start prototyping with FPGA technology for future projects. I've been playing with the FPGA examples in LabVIEW. I created a simulated for the USB-7856R FPGA target. When the target is implemented in my project, he mentions a clock of 40 MHz in the target.

Why is this? The 7856R USB is spec'd with a 80 MHz clock.

The FPGA has a base of 40 MHz clock.  The OID can be clocked to 80 MHz.  You can make a clock derived from 80 MHz to 40 MHz clock.

  • Portege M100 - blocked processor at 600 Mhz, have tried all BIOS versions

Just my BIOS was about 1.20 when I went to site Web from Toshiba to get the drivers to install and to found the update the BIOS so I followed instructions burn it to a disk, the last one I have and I went, but after the update, I noticed that xp says he was clocked at 600 MHz not 1 2 GHz.

So I used the cpuid to see if it is xp, but it shows as running 598,6 MHz processor and can flow to 600,4 MHz max so I went in the BIOS tried off sleep CPU max CPU and so restarted then I thought it was the xp so I reinstalled but still the same I used Suse Linux always the same.

I've reflashed the BIOS with 1.50 through the same restarted windows. I get on where and it becomes ridiculous, even, I went and found all BIOS versions on the US site of Toshiba, which dates back to version 1.10 to 1.50, so I tried all the. Nothing!

I am really puzzled that anyone can sort this is really boring and slow.
    Thank you in advance

    Hello

Just a question; the motherboard has been replaced by the past?

I know, after the replacement of the motherboard, the test & diagnosis must be performed in order to update the CPU microcode on the circuit board.
If the firmware is not updated your CPU would be stuck at 600 Mhz.

In order to update the firmware, the ASP must be contacted.

The other reason why the CPU runs only at 600 Mhz is the setting low processing CPU Toshiba power saver.
Check if the Toshiba power saver is installed on your laptop and set the options at a higher level.

    Check it out

I thank the of in advance to anyone who helps!

    Hello

As already suggested that the firmware must be updated! This portable strange behavior happens especially if the technician forgot to update this laptop runs only at 600 MHz.
