  Oracle clustered systems have resources. Everything is a resource. The listener is a resource. The instance is a resource. A block of data is a resource. Each resource has a master node and that node may be all in the cluster. And resources of the same type can have different masters. If just because Node1 is the master of the resource for blockXYZ does mean that Node1 is the master of the resource for all blocks. BlockABC can have his mastery of the resource on Node2.

  In this article, it says "the General function of the master node must be the mastermind behind the group." However, GI of Oracle cluster doesn't have this concept.   We have a 3.5 ESX cluster node using a VIM server to manage 2. When the power died on both nodes, we noticed that the VIM Server came not upward.   I have two questions:
  1. we need to stop and start the cssd (crsctl stop crs, crsctl start crs) on both our 2 nodes of clusters.
  In our test group, I stopped first the ASM and dbs all running on 2 nodes
  Then I got arrested and restarded the cssd on the first node, and then on the second node. What is the good order or procedure?
  I noticed after the cssd (crsctl stop crs) stopped the process "/ bin/sh /etc/init.d/init.cssd fatal" was always present. I waited for 30 seconds, but he was always there. Then I restarted the cssd (crsctl start crs) in any case. Why was the fatal process always there? It happened on both nodes.   So, for the closure of this thread, which is the appropriate procedure - for them stopping and restarting the cssd on the two cluster 2 node - among the two below:

  1 - do a "crsctl stop Sir' and then 'crsct start crs' on the first node. Then do the same thing on the second node
  2. make a "Sir crsctl stop" on both nodes. Then do 'crsct start crs' on both nodes

  I want to avoid is the two nodes start to restart because of the cssd.

  You can run 'crsctl stop/start' at the same time on both nodes or so as you want (1 or 2), no problem.

  If you start the clusterware on a first node and later the second node, just make sure that all services who were on the first node the second node have been properly resettled on the second node.

  Running VC 4.1.  I have a cluster with two nodes sharing 4 RDM MSFT. I'll have to migrate different storage nodes, so I do one at a time.  I have turned off the second node, removed the ROW and then migrated the server to the new storage.  Now when I try to add the ROW in the comments that they do not appear as available.  Is there a way to refresh the list of available LUNS.  I tried the guest of migration to a different host, but that does not.  I did that's the past and I thnk that after a certain period of time the updated list finally but I would like if possible force him.

  You can add a unit logic as a ROW only one number. At the time, he is attached to a virtual machine as a RDM, RDM map file (vmdk) is created. To set the ROW on the second node, you choose to add an existing virtual disk and point to the existing map file. To move/migrate the map for the storage of other file, you will need to detach the RDM on both nodes of the cluster, and then select "Delete from disk" when it detach the last node. This only deletes the mapping file. After that, you should see the LUNS in the list of the LUNS available for RDM.

• cluster domain config - newbie question

  I need to set up an area clustered on Host1 and Host2 with a managed_server1 on Host1 and a managed_server2 on Host2.
  
  I followed the steps described below, but ended up with two servers managed running on Host1 managed_server1 rather than run on Host1 and managed_server2 running on Host2. Can someone please clarify the proper procedure for me.
  
  1. I installed the software on Host1 and Host2.
  2. from Host1 run the config.sh to create a domain.
  3 when creating a domain I created a server admin work to Host1:7001 and a managed_server1 to Host1:7003.
  At the same time I also create a cluster with cluster as Host1:7003 Host2:7003 address.

  Hi Anatolly
  There are a few differences in the way in which you have created the cluster for the desired Env. Here are the steps of the preview. Will give the full link at the bottom.

  1. install the SAME version of Weblogic Server on both Computer1 and computer2 machines. Note that it should absolutely be the same version.

  2. on Computer1, create a domain of Cluster. When created, select Personalize option. Create 2 managed servers MS1 and MS2. Give the IP address or dns names for each ms1 and ms2 machine where they run. You can use the same port, because they run on different computers. Of course, you will have a Server Admin assuming his Computer1 on himself. Create a SINGLE cluster and in the next screen add both ms1 and ms2 to this cluster. You can have any number of clusters. Strawberry to your usecase, you need a single cluster with 2 managedservers. Server Admin does NOT part of the cluster.

  3. now, you have an area Clustered AdminServer and MS1 on Computer1 and MS2 that must run on Computer2. MS1 and MS2 are part of the cluster

  4 Computer1, runs a command called pack (see link for more details below). This will create a .jar file with the name that you specify in the pack command.

  5 copy the .jar above of other Computer2. Run unpack command on the other computer. Now, you'll have MS2 created on another machine.

  You can always start adminserver and ms1 (first of all managed server) on Computer1 by using the normal commands startweblogic and startmanagedweblogic. On another machine, run startmanagedweblogic and give this server name which is ms2.

  You have no need for Node manager by default. Incase if you want to start/stop server running on another machine-by-machine master main MS1 ms2, then you need configure the node Manager etc.

• vCenter 5.5 cluster using Fibre Channel &amp; MSCS (Win 2003)

  Hi all

  I need to create a Cluster of 2003 of Windows (MSCS) as well as storage Fibre Channel shared on vCenter Server 5.5.  I need to work so that if a server crashes, the second server goes into action and support.

  I have a two-node Windows 2003 R2 64 bit running on the same host.  Virtual machines are created with an operating system installed.  I use for Fibre Channel storage and I have created and attached 6 discs in thick eager set to zero.  I also created and configured two NICs (Public and private) on each node.  The shared SCSI Bus is set to "Virtual" on both nodes.  I managed to get the two nodes to market and both can see the 6 disks.  The disk configuration is identical between nodes.  All drive letters to even the SCSI virtual peripheral nodes (1:X).

  I have not yet created the Windows cluster.  The problem is that, in node 1 when I create a folder in one of the attached disks, I don't see this folder in the same drive in node 2.  Is it a problem, a bad configuration or is this a normal behavior?

  Are there any other setup that I should consider to make this work?

  Since you not yet configured the cluster, this is normal behavior. Go ahead and configure the cluster, then the software cluster will manage the discs... do what you try can cause data corruption.

  And after the configuration of the cluster, take in mind that the drive will be online to a single node by time, as the Microsoft cluster is an active/passive cluster, in this way you will be able to see the disc and online with the letter assigned only on the active node.

• CRS-2630: only cluster administrators are allowed to create local resources

  I have installed and configured a database of 12 c on both nodes of linux and all is well. I also installed the Oracle RDBMS 12.1.01 on the same nodes. Now, when I try and use netca and dbca to create a database or the listener, I get the following errors.

  I can connect as user GRID and can create resources, but not as a database user. The two users are members of the dba group.

  Some update of mote on this strange question; I set up the layer of Oracle GRID 12.1.0.1 in two virtual servers using Oracle Linux Linux rac2node.vbox 2.6.39 - 400.210.2.el5uek. I can do almost all normal operations on the HOUSE of the GRID, but I can't create databases or headphones when I connect to the database home.  The error message speaks of the CRS 2630 error. I can't find any entry on this error.

  I'll put up a RAC cluster in Oracle 11.2.0.3 on both nodes to Windows 2008R2.

  I have completed all pre-installation tasks (I hope) and I'd like to check this by running:

  cluvfy comp sys database Pei n all

  using the standalone download of cluvfy - I have not installed all the Oracle software yet.

  This completes successfully on the remote node but fails on the local node (one that I run in).

  There are a lot of output, but these seem to be the main problems:

  However, there is a folder in the oraremservice of appeal for temporary destination and there are files DLL and the RemoteExecService.exe in there.

  There are a number of log files in the temp directory, for example called sprvmcli_9885533.log (the number is generated only every time).

  When running against the local node, these contain the following:

  When the cluvfy runs successfully against the remote node, this has a lot more information in, and the errors do not occur.

  I use the utility cluvfy incorrectly for this stage of the operation, or is there something wrong with my setup?
