  Also, would I get a solid state? My laptop that would support or should I just use regular?

  Currently, I am on Windows 7 64-bit. I have a 500 GB hd (which came to be partitioned with hp tools/restoration).

  Your laptop should be able to work with an SSD, but I can't guarantee it.

  I don't really see any point in adding an SSD unless you make the main hard drive, and to do this, you must get an SSD of the same size as the original 500 GB hard drive to use the recovery discs to reinstall the operating system.

  Most people get smaller SSD and they use the W7 product key to activate a simple installation of W7.

  If you can read all 25 characters of your product key for windows 7, you can do your own installation media and allows to install Windows on a smaller than 500 GB SSD.

  If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

  Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

  Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. The link below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

  I recently made some updates to my E310 and, until I got to the point where I was adding the second hard drive, everything went well.

  First of all, nobody in my local computer store knew of the blue Paw was to add 2nd hard drive; They suggested screw. This isn't the first hard drive I have installed, even if it is the first in my Dell. After my third attempt of Googling, I struck gold - a post in the forum explaining that support is needed and a telephone number to order. I am so grateful for this response.

  I read in similar positions and before putting the drive in I want to understand what is needed after the physical installation. This player will not hold the OS (XP Media), but held the whole image, music, and various files. Still must the player be partitioned and formatted using disk management I read in another post? I understand that I must go into the Bios to activate the second hard drive, so to speak. Is this similar to enter the CMOS? Would you be able to provide clear instructions?

  Is there anything else I should do to get the new HDD to be operational?

  I have a Dell Inspiron 530 which has a Samsung 320 hard drive.  I would like to add a second hard drive to put photos, etc.  Green a Western Digital 2 TB 3.5 "SATA looks like a possibility.  However, images, like most of the internal drives I saw pictures, he has one open side showing the drive mechanism.  The Samsung already in the PC is covered.  The additional disc will not become covered with dust (my PC had a lot of cobwebs in it when I opened it to the top!)?  Any advice on which drive to choose and how to install it would also be appreciated.

  I have two HD SATA and SSD installed in my Inspiron 530 mini tour and have never had a problem of "dust."

  Will need you a SATA data cable, there should be a spare power connector SATA inside the case and four 6-32 X 1/4, Phillips head screws to mount the drive.

  Connect the SATA data cable to the SATA connector on the motherboard.

  After you have installed the drive, enter the system setup and make sure the hard drive is "on" [We] and recognized.

  For windows to recognize the second hard drive, it must be partitioned and formatted.

  Go to control panel, administrative tools, computer management, storage, disk management, right click on the new drive, select format, then you can assign a drive letter.

  Hard drives Western Digital and Seagate are good, my preference is for Western Digital.

  Also check the length of the manufacturer's warranty, plus the best guarantee.

  I opened my computer case to see what I need to install a second hard drive in my Dimension E521.  I quickly found the slot and a Sata data connector, but could not see where the power comes from.  Do I have to buy another cable, and if so, where I plug?

  I have two optical drives installed, but I think they are EIDE?

  I just bought I used Portege M750 because my M700 was broken. Unfortunately, the berries to choose between the two models are not compatible. I tried a standard SATA-SATA HARD drive caddy, but I get a message "select Bay error" at the start, although the caddy runs under windows, as long as you do not hibernate.

I would use the 2nd internal hard drive of our mac mini server (end 2012) for storage (in fact, I'll things rsync from a remote server to here. but this is not the point here.). The thing is, I don't know how to access the 2nd internal hard drive and where to start. I did all of the following commands in the Terminal, but I don't really know what they mean, and what can I do with this information.   The Specifications for the 550-306no indicate that it is not put into service for a disk hard 3.5 "2nd.  Review the information in the computer case.

  Some models will allow a 2.5 "HD or SSD to add.  See the image below.

  

  According to the amount of space available between the existing hard drive and the motherboard, you might be able to mount another HD using 3.5 media ".  Those that I had recommended in the past are now $40 (ouch).
