3-node MSSQL Cluster

I noticed a limitation of 2 nodes for clusters with disks shared in this detailed KB http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1037959.

I recommend usually MSCS in VMware but, I can understand Lab, Dev, Test scenerios where it might be useful. In this case our DBA to create a 3-node SQL Cluster for test scenerio upgrade that is used in the physical world.

Does anyone know if the limit of 2 nodes described in the KB is a technical limitation where it isn't even a functional ability or whether it is more than one support position. Just trying to figure out if this could be done temporarily for the proposed trial?

The limit of 2 nodes is more than one thing to support. It should work fine with even with other nodes. Particular in the case of iSCSI in guest I don't see no technical reason why it should not work.

vSphere 5.1 will also support formally to 5 knots MSCS:

Before and after her, with check the 3 NICs IP network and ping them, all of them are good. After putting new IP Address/subnet mask on the network cards that are for the beats, the problem is still there.

I'm confused what is wrong. Is it a problem that the pulse line connects via a vSwitch without physical NETWORK card as Microsoft says heart rate must be connected directly?

I don't think it would be a network ESX problem since all your NETWORK cards are online and respond to pings.   I am curious about your first screen printing where the cluster cannot be brought online due to the INVESTIGATION period is already on the network.   Is it possible that the IP address is in use elsewhere on the network?

I'll move this thread to the VM forum and the guest operating system to see if anyone can help troubleshoot the configuration of comments.

  • Battle of VSAN (2 node with node witness Cluster) cannot write to VSAN

I'm having problems with my Cluster active VSAN and can't seem to write in the data store or migrate a virtual machine to download whatever it is him. When I try a vMotion VM over the VSAN DS I get an error "file impossible creation a full operation, an unknown error occurred."

    Here is my layout,

Two Clusters with the node of witness, one with 2 nodes

Each host has 2 discs with a Cache and running as FLASH capacity and disk HARD hybrid Type. Field of the fault, I have a witness preferred and secondary each host is divided.

Here are the best, I got a work around, if I change the host of fd perfered and when updating the domain fault I can during this brief moment write to the data store. That's how I'm migration of VMs for the moment.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you

VSAN Checkup shows that everything works well? My guess is that your 2 hosts have problems with communication with the node of witness or vice versa.

Try to modify the VSAN storage policy to enable ForceProvisioning as a test, if it works, the problem is probably problem of config/route network communicates with the witness.

  • Nodes of Cluster ESXi 5.5 with different MTU

Is a good idea for an ESXi cluster 5.5U2 to have nodes at different units MTU on their vSwitch?  No. VM or VMKernel interfaces are the MTU = 9000 value, only the single vSwitch (vSwitch0) is set to MTU = 9000

We are currently adding new nodes to an existing cluster 5.5U2 ESXi and set the vSwitch MTU = 9000 to allow frames extended on new nodes, but the existing nodes have MTU = 1500 (default).  The objective is long-term, all nodes vSwitch0 value MTU = 9000, but before this can happen there vMotion all the virtual machines on the existing nodes of ESXi in making the adjustment.

    Yes, it's ok.

If you use the standard, turn on to do manually on all nodes and if you use distributed switch then you can substitute the single point through the command line or GUI.

  • vCenter VM 2 node HA cluster

My client would like to protect against hardware failure on a single host 2 running virtual machines with 2 hosts configured with HA.  If vCenter runs as a virtual machine on a host computer with the production of 2 virtual machines and the host fails, the other host will be able to recover workloads automatically, or the person will need to access the host running directly to start vCenter and 2 production virtual machines?

Obviously 3 guests would be better, but does not move.  The shared storage, sufficient resources to run 3 + VMs on each host.  vSphere Essentials Plus Kit 5.5

    Thank you.

    Kevin

    Who is going to work.

As directed by your post, you have two hosts

H1: VM1, VM2 & vCenter VM that handles this HA cluster

H2::failover hosts with no virtual machines running

    Please confirm above installation.

You have enough resources, it works very well. If the host fails, HA continue to work, you will face minimum downtime that vSphere HA will restart these VMs (automatically).

VCenter VM will also have downtime in case of failure, you can not connect to vCenter/manage the HA cluster until all services are up and running vCenter. vCenter is used only to manage the HA cluster, the rest is at the level of the host.

  • Add the new node to cluster oracle

    Hello
I have a doubt regarding cluster approx.

  • Replication Failover clustering & Hyper-v on a two-node cluster

    Hello

We have two identical servers.  One to use as a main server, which houses two virtual machines.  The other should be used as a back up in case the main server is not somehow.  We planned on using a solution of third-party software to back up our virtual machines and launch them in the event of failure of the principal server.  However, we discovered just gave the failover clustering in Windows Server R2 2012.

We have tried to set up a cluster 2 nodes, with our virtual machines properly replicated to the backup server.  Excited by the present, we tried then to simulate failure of the primary server (by pulling on the cable network).  We were a little disappointed to find that the backup server is not automatically run virtual machines.  We did a survey and read than a solution of two nodes requires storage space for additional network (in addition to our two servers).

I wonder if that's okay?  In other words, a two-node failover cluster requires separate network storage space.  If this is not correct, can someone point me to a set of instructions to correctly configure a two-node failover cluster that will automatically launch the virtual machines on the server backup (in the case of a failure of the principal server).

    Thank you

  • Is there such a thing as the node master RAC cluster?

    The GI version: 11.2.0.4

    Operating system: Linux/Unix platforms

Cluster CARS being an ACTIVE configuration / ASSET, is there such a thing as master node in a RAC cluster?

If there is such a thing as a master node, in a 4-node RAC cluster, how can I find which is the "master" node and why it is called a "master node"?

Unlike some cluster systems, it is not really a "master node" for Oracle Grid Infrastructure. This link of @rchem to the Uwe Hesse blog entry contain information about a master node but note carefully the specific tasks for this master.

Oracle clustered systems have resources. Everything is a resource. The listener is a resource. The instance is a resource. A block of data is a resource. Each resource has a master node and that node may be all in the cluster. And resources of the same type can have different masters. If just because Node1 is the master of the resource for blockXYZ does mean that Node1 is the master of the resource for all blocks. BlockABC can have his mastery of the resource on Node2.

Most people think of a master node like the one that makes decisions for the rest of the cluster. For example, here is a link to a Dell article: http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/high-performance-computing/w/wiki/hpc-cluster-nodes

In this article, it says "the General function of the master node must be the mastermind behind the group." However, GI of Oracle cluster doesn't have this concept. There is no a node responsible for the rest of them. All decisions that need to be made are distributed on all nodes of the cluster, piece meal.

  • HA 2 node cluster

    Dear all,

We must give the solution for our customer with a high availability 10VMs. is the main requirement. We cluster vmware design two nodes. recommended cluster with 2 design nodes? Please advice...

    Thank you

    Lasantha.

I build multiple clusters of 2 knots in the past with no problems. Note that when you perform an upgrade to ESXi you'll turn temporarily without protection for your virtual machines... Because if you do an upgrade this host will probably be in maintenance mode and will not be used as a target for failover. This is why many people are recommended to go with 3 being the minimum. However, two works very well.

  • Nodes in the cluster of Flex

    Hello

can someone explain what are leaf nodes in cluster flex? documentation, I see that they are nodes that do not have access to the storage and they communicate with hub nodes.

Can have the oracle db instances? If yes how data is transferred between the hub and leaf nodes? Through interconnection? It does not overload the interconnection?

    Thank you

    Soumahoro

The RAC instances are supposed to be present on Hub nodes as they are supposed to be used as DB nodes. This would make the concept of Fusion Cache similar to what we have in previous versions. On the management of the nodes, you must explicitly set, the nodes would be considered to be leaf nodes in the list of the available total nodes.

  • How to prevent a node of the main Service of Cluster node?

    Hello

Anyone know how to configure the cluster of consistency in a way that some nodes will never receive as a main Service of cluster node?

We have some compatible storage nodes and some people with disabilities-storage and want to make sure disabled storage nodes are never chosen as main node of cluster service.

Would it be useful to give lower priority of Member identity nodes to storage-disabled people?

    We use a consistent patch 3.3.2 1.

    Thank you
    Alexey

    Alexis,

That would be my recommendation based on the reading of your condition, use extend customers...

    Good luck
