320 GB external drive (PX1267E - 1 GB 32) under Linux

Hello

I just bought a Toshiba 320 GB external (PX1267E - 1 32 GB) disc and I need to work on Linux.

Linux recognizes the drive as a SDA, but give an error of e/s with an impossible to read the partition table.

No idea what is the problem? Can I use this disc in linux?

Carlos.

Hello

What type of HARD drive that you are using? You format the drive external HARD for Linux compatibility mode?
As far as I know that Linux could read FAT32 but 320 GB is too big for FAT32. If you want to use FAT32, you have to fund single partitions on the 320 GB HARD drive.
I m not 100% sure of the size of FAT32 max, but I think the 32 GB limit.

Many Linux distributions also read NTFS but as far as I know the Red Hat Fedora und is not able to handle this format. It doesn't exist in the core.

    Hello

You really need an installation disc to use an external USB HDD?

In any case; the European Player Toshiba page contains many drivers.
Please choose this option on the European driver from Toshiba site:

    * Options-> disk-> disk devices HARD HDD & adapters *.

  • WD external drive is not detected by the Windows backup program

Original title: with a WD external drive backup program

I have a WD My Book Essential 320 GB external drive. The Windows backup program does not recognize the drive... The drive IS recognized on my computer and I can access and transfer and copy and paste to it without problem. It's just the backup program which does not. No error message or anything. Only, it does not recognize the drive when I get to the destination area. I tried to update the drivers. The WD support site has Backup downloads for OTHER external drives, but not this one. Their Web site says to contact Microsoft support. Any suggestions?

    Hey mrlray,

    Here's what you can do.

    Perform the clean boot

Backup process a lot sometimes, this problem is provided by third party in conflict with windows software. See if this is the case here by putting your boot system before you perform the backup.

  • Problem with a Toshiba PX1267E 320 external drive

    Hi all

I have a problem with a Toshiba px1267e 320 external drive, when everything was ok with it I would like to move on and the blue led would come and change blue /violet as it was found on my laptop, a small vibration could be felt if I handled the case which indicates that the d/d engine was on.

After that fateful morning I turned on one explores in my computer and found no ext drive, checked the blue led disc on affected the case allowed to detect any vibration, eclipsed the reader of the case put my ear to hear low clicking.

I removed the device and connected to shopping cart, this time I could feel the engine goes, connected to the laptop, new hardware found made my computer explore and didn't find any drive, Device Manager enabled and found it so I uninstalled and reconnected the usb with the same result.
I don't know what to do next.

I had a Word with computer store if they could recover some time I wait they told at least 6 hours work, if possible (don't want to shop)
Bought me another model of the same digital Western not and new power to try to exchange the electronic circuit just in case he finds also the and/or possible fault we power/s but I'm clutching at straws here.

Anyone of you guys, here you have something like this happen? any suggestions?
I'm curious to know what they were going to try in the store to retrieve even if he said that he could not guarantee the results.
I would appreciate any helpful suggestion (not throw it in the trash)

I think that the external HARD drive is dead
Maybe it s a head crash which would explain the low clicking and other noises
Unfortunately, I have this case you can't do anything

  • Drive external DRIVE 320 GB PX1267E - 1 32 keeps restarting

I have a Toshiba PX1267E - 1 32-hard external drive 320 GB which keeps restarting itself whenever I try to copy large files.

The whole device became unusable as most of the things I want to backup is more than 2 GB in size.
AI? ve tried it on 2 computers to another brand and the same problems occur, less with one of the other brand but that is strange?

    Someone else had this problem?

Hi, I just wanted to ask you which files on your external HARD drive? Maybe there is a problem with it?
Another suggestion is, back up your data to another medium, go to your local dealer where you bought it and try it. If you encounter the error even by your dealer, then let them trade your car.

It s better to exchange these stuff like external HDD´s because I lost my files (music and film) since my last external drive had a headcrash. :(

  • 320 gb External Hard Drive - now detected as Cypress device

    Hi all

I have a Toshiba 320 GB external hard drive and it seems to have developed a problem. Instead of being detected correctly when I turn on the drive Windows tell me that his device detected a "Cypress AT2LP RC42" and he wants to install software for it (which it does not so find).

I know that this isn't just the OS because I have two OS on my machine and while it used to work fine on the two I now get the same behavior on them. Other that the drive does not appear in "My Computer" or in the "Disk management" part of the "Computer management" console

Anyone know how to fix this?

I must also say that I had only this when I got a 160 GB Toshiba drive.

    Colin

    [Edited by: admin]

I googled around, and it seems that you really need a driver for this external hard drive to HARD drive. You should check the Web site of Cypress.

The other option is to download the DriverWizard Windriver jungo.com 8.0. This application creates .inf files. Cypress AT2LP RC42 source code should be integrated.
For EXAMPLE, you can create a clean driver .inf file. Try to install it on your device.

  • Satellite P200 - problem with the use of disk HARD original as external drive

I've been pulling on my hair for a month now and could do with help

I have a Satellite P200 series PC laptop and have recently updated from the 200 GB for a pair or 320 GB HARD drive. No problem

The question I have is that the old drive of 200 GB system I am unable to use it in any other machine or according to and external storage device.
The original secondary disc works fine few matter where I use it... (In my PS3 at the moment)

When I install the orgional system drive in my laptop and rebuild windows it it still works 100%.
Hance a good work of 200 GB of HARD drive.
Take it out and serve in another machine of storage that it won't - boot all I get is cyclic redundancy errors

I formatted, low level run endless disk tools
WD test came back with diagnostics Test::Read 11 - cable sector error!

Even as a drive on the original laptop is the same

All ideas taken with gratitude that I don't want to lose a good 200 GB HARD drive

    Thank you very much
    Roger

    Hello!

The external box is maybe defective, because you said that the HARD drive works in your laptop and the PS3 without problem.
You can test the HARD drive in another external case?

WD test unknown to me but I always use the Drive Fitness Test:
    http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm#DFT
With the Drive Fitness Test, you can test your HARD drive. Download the CD image, burn it to a CD and boot from it. You can then the HARD drive.
On the same site is a user's guide if you want to know more.

  • Disk Toshiba 320 GB external hard takes 3 minutes to go to the top

In 2006, I bought my external hard drive Toshiba 320 GB, USB 2.0. IT worked fine until a week ago. Whenever I want to use it, I turn on with the switch at the rear of the car. The blue light turns on and then... nothing.

After a few minutes (it varies between 3 and 10) the drive suddenly makes a noise (it turns upward?) start and the drive is recognized by Windows. I use Windows XP Service Pack 3. A few times when I also turn on my second external drive it als gets automatically recognized, sometimes not.

Once it is recognized, the drive works perfectly without errors.

I looked in the event viewer of windows, without errors or warnings there. When I restart Windows, the drive is not recognized immediately (also takes about 3 minutes). I tried ending task assignment to see if there was programs 'blocking' of the reader, but it would not help.

Does anyone have any advice for me I can try more? Or perhaps had the same problem and solved somehow?

    Hello!

Have you plugged the HDD on the same PC or laptop as before?
As Akuma has said, try it on another PC.

If you have another USB cable that you use to test.

    Good bye

  • Problem with HD external Toshiba PX1267E - 1 32

    Hi all.

I had an external hard drive Toshiba PX1267E - 1 32 for awhile now and its fantastic. I normally run on Windows XP, and recently, I started using Windows 7.

When I plug in the external hard drive in, the password box opens, I get the password, indicates the password has been entered successfully, and I click ok.

The HD is supposed to rev and load the data as another drive partition so that I can access the data stored on the hard drive of course, but this isn't the case on Windows 7. Nothing happens after I have well validate my password.

I also tried removing my restriction password, but all that load is the password of the external HD partition. I am running in administrator mode, but nothing helped.

Can someone please tell me how to load to the top of my "data" of the partition HD external Toshiba PX1267E - 1 32.

    Thank you much in advance,

    Hello

I'm not quite sure if it will work, but you can try to access the m windows * disk management * and can check if the HARD drive or partition could be formatted.

Perhaps then the HARD drive would be recognized in my computer (Explorer) and you can access the HARD disk.

    Select this check box.

  • Satellite Pro M30: compatibility with a TOSHIBA 320 GB external USB HDD

    Hello

I was looking for a new external hard drive when I came across the disc toshiba 320 GB external hard. However, under the heading "compatible notebooks" it did not have my model. Is this a problem that suggests this will not work on my laptop or it's just a schoolboy where my laptop was unsuccessful?

I have included the Web page that has the compatible machines.

    http://UK.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/JSP/individualOptions.do?service=UK&selCategory=4699&o ldCategory = 4699 & OPTION_ID = 120291 & toshibaShop = true & tab = 2 #2

Your help would be much appreciated.

    Hello

I put t know why the Pro M30 or M30 is not listed under compatible devices and supported but I n t think that there might be a problem.
This external HARD drive using a USB connection and as far as I know the laptop supports 3 USB 2.0 ports. It seems the HARD disk should work

But I think that each dealer would also test the HARD drive before you buy.
