4 cases of dllhost.exe, each taking up 1 969 MB memory

I see 4 instance of dllhost.exe each taking up 1 969 MB of memory.  I run AVG Antivirus and am sure that it is not a virus.  sfc/scannow shows no problem, and there is nothing else that I can see in progress.

How can I solve this?

Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit

Thank you...

Hello

To help you better, please answer these questions.

1 - is it slow down the speed of the computer?

2. where did you see the dllhost.exe instances?

I recommend that you do not delete the dllhost.exe as this program is important for the stable and safe running of your computer and should not be terminated.

Dllhost.exe should not be disabled, required for essential applications to work properly. It is highly recommended to run a free Scan Performance of Microsoft http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx to automatically optimize memory, CPU and Internet settings.

You can also check the issue in safe mode and the clean boot.

Method 1: Start your computer in safe mode

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Method 2: run the clean boot:

Perform a clean boot to determine if any 3rd party service is causing the issue:

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After performing the steps to clean boot troubleshooting, follow the link step to start the computer to Normal startup mode.

Hope this information helps. For any other corresponding Windows help, do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to help you.

  • DLLHOST.exe taking up all the RAM random instance.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate and 4 GB of RAM on a Dell Inspiron 530 computer. A few minutes ago I was watching YouTube and I clicked on the Start button, because I wanted to do something. The computer then nuts. The flashed repeatedly start button then has frozen, Firefox froze and the screen went black and white for a few seconds. I opened the Task Manager and kill everything, but it was still extremely slow. CPU and memory were at an all time high, (I think 60 CPU, Mem was about 100). I then checked the show all option process and discovered that DLLHOST.exe was using 4 000 000 KB of memory. What the heck is DLLHOST.exe, why should I use as much memory, and is it essential? Can I get rid of him? Why it opens so randomly?

    Hello

You could also deal with this issue because of any third-party application. I suggest you to start your computer in a clean boot state, and check if it helps.

Clean boot: To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

  • Dllhost.exe * 32 - Com Surrogate

From October 18, 2014 Windows Update, my task manager will show perhaps 30 cases of dllhost.exe * 32 - COM Surrogate, consume 100% of CPU and about 6 GB of RAM.

I ran: Norton Full Scan, Emsisoft Anti-Malware, Norton Power Eraser and Microsoft Malware removal. Found nothing even the slightest threat. I also ran "sfc/scannow" at the command prompt. He fixed a single file in the audio driver, nothing else.

If I reboot and open the Task Manager but nothing, the problem may not start for a while. But if I open Windows Explorer, it starts immediately, crushing system with dllhost.exe * 32 - Com Surrogate

I've seen a lot of comments online about the same topic. But nobody seems to have a definitive solution, or find the cause.

If you are familiar with this issue and have a solution, please share. :)

    Thank you

Win 7-64 HomePrem running on Corsair SSD, 8 GB RAM, AMD 1090 t.

I had the same problem and here is how I fixed it:

I went in C:\Windows and the SysWOW64 folder right click and choose PROPERTIES.

I clicked SECURITY and click ADVANCED to give me ownership of this file. then I went back to SAFETY and gave myself (as admin) full control of this file. Then I deleted the file dllhost in the SysWOW64 folder and rebooted. The problem was gone.

You will probably need to open Windows Task Manager, check the box "Show processes from all users" and continually with the right button to COMPLETE the PROCESS to stop the offending files of dllhost in order to achieve this, but it will work.

  • Dllhost.exe uses 100% of my cpu. How do I fix this?

I am running windows 7.dllhost.exe uses 65 to 100% of my cpu. can I fix? I can't remove it dllhost.exe? It will harm my computer? Help!

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks to all of you for the answer to my question on dllhost.exe. I don't know what I did or did not, but the dllhost.exe disappeared. I don't know that I've screwed something to make it work on my computer in the first place. I don't have a clue as to why he went with the exception of dumb luck on my part. He went just as all your responses and suggestions came in. I have not had the chance to try one of your ideas, but I'm not going to save them in case of dllhost.exe returns. I wanted to wait a few days to make sure that it was gone for now.

Thanks again for your help. I really appreciate it.

  • Dllhost.exe COM Surrogate

    Hi all

I recently started having a problem with dllhost.exe.  I noticed y\on Saturday that my computer is very slow.  The Task Manager showed several instances of dllhost.exe running and sucking a lot of memory.  The history tab in Internet Explorer also shows I have visited several Web sites I've ever visited, even some who is identified only by IP addresses.  I read online that this can be related to malware.  However, I ran several scans with a couple of different programs, including with ESET and nothing was detected on my computer.  Also, I had not visited all the weird sites or received a suspicious email when the problem occurred.  He needs enough came out of nowhere.

Anyone has a suggestion for how I can solve this?

    Rohit,

In order to follow again, it seems that the creation of a new user profile has completely solved the problem I had.  In particular, my computer's performance improved as well since this change.

    Thanks again.

    Kind regards

    Hello

Were there any changes (hardware or software) to the computer before the show?

Dllhost.exe is a process belonging to Microsoft Windows Operating System. The dllhost.exe file manages DLL (Dynamic Link Library) based applications. This program is important for the stable and safe running of your computer and should not be terminated.

Dllhost.exe is a system process that is needed for your PC to function properly.

System problems occur mainly conflicts between applications running on your PC.

Perform the steps from the link mentioned below in order to increase the performance of the computer.

  • TaskHost.exe crash, repeating the dllhost.exe crashes (Win7 x 64 SP1)

It has been that rampant in me for over a week. I login and immediately taskhost.exe accidents, then repeat accidents of dllhost.exe. The fault for both module is always esent.dll.

Not to mention that repetitive crash dialogs, there are also other problems:
-Windows Help does not work correctly. After opening, I repeatedly to shut the windows of error just so that he could respond and whatever whether in the search returns 0 results.
-CHM files have the same problem of response as above and also will not show the embedded images or style sheets (like if it cannot access its own embedded files).
-Internet Explorer won't display certain content, IE: YouTube videos, some .webm files.

I tried a variety of things and had no chance to solve the basic problem.
-J' did a full scan with MalwareBytes and Avast antivirus - no viruses and no malware.
-J' tried to manually replace the (dllhost, esent) files to another Windows 7 system - no change.
    -J' tried SFC/scannow - no files don't need replacement - no change.
-J' tried to start in safe mode - no change.
-J' tried a "clean boot" - system running unbearably slow and no change.
-J' tried to delete/uninstall 3rd party codecs - no change.
-J' uninstalled and reinstalled IE11 (a chore in itself) - IE had disappeared, the accidents stopped, but after reinstalling it is back to crashing (and leaving aside other issues caused IE).

The only thing that stops the constant error dialogs must remove dllhost.exe or esent.dll. Of course, none of these options is acceptable because it does not fix the other issues and other causes. And now I get a notification that my Windows think more that it is authentic, and when I tried to validate, the page threw a bunch of script errors me (perhaps because IE does not work correctly).

My next step and the last resort is to reinstall Windows, unless someone here can help. Below is all the information I can think to provide at the moment, I look forward the responses and thanks for reading so far.

  • Windows 7 dllhost.exe memory leak

Help!  Dllhost.exe develops as the blob until resources have disappeared and the thumbnails are turning to icons, slowed down looking for files

When I search for images on my readers, the thumbnails do work not after only a little time to research.  In addition, the thumbnails on the desktop, or when searching for files open in windows, because the images are not displayed correctly.  In the resource monitor > memory tab, I can see dllhost.exe is growing like the blob.  If I finish the dllhost.exe process tree, back to normal and my icons of things back miniature shortly, dllhost.exe generates again and develops.  I can crush as I'm playing whack-a-program of times and finally to see the thumbnails.

I searched and found only the most banal answers are no help.  I have no viruses.  My son has the same problem with its Quad core I7 system running Windows 7 pro.  System caches are cleaned regularly, and the system works perfectly in every other sense.  Is no video thumbnails.  It's thumbnails of photo as .jpg and .png

Also, if I open a drive in my computer, the search bar green is very slow going right on each drive

    System specs
    Windows 7 Pro (64 bit)
    32 GB DDR 3
Core of 8150 AMD fx 8
    Asus motherboard
2 separate SLC SSD and PIN 4 discs
    Kaspersky Internet Security 2014
    50 MB cable internet connection

I recently bought a new computer with windows professional responsible.  No products on this PC Microsoft desktop.

I downloaded Adobe reader.  Then asked to update adobe on 27/09/14.  After the update my cpu went bonkers with dllhost.exe running Amok.  I deleted adobe and that fixes the problem.  The last update seems to be the culprit.

  • COM Surrogate (dllhost.exe) and question of loading folder

    Hi all

There are 2 problems that I think are related, but I could be wrong:

    1. Some files are loading very slowly (or even does not at all). The framework itself is displayed instantly, but the content is not and the Green loading bar in the address bar is.
    2. Surrogate COM (dllhost.exe) is always eat up to 13% of the CPU (so I guess that 100% of a wire with a processor of threads 4 cores x 2 I).

Running on Windows 7 x 64, all updates installed.

I saw a bunch of related issues here but with apparently different sources. I tried already to:

    • Run the System File Checker: no problem.
    • Run Microsoft Safety scanner: no problem.
    • Check the system drive to find errors: no problems.
    • Run Microsoft Fixit performance: some software/services launches at startup, but don't see any suspicious things.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you very much!

    Niranjan salvation!

And thank you for your fast answer :)

First of all, my problem is (partly) solved! But not exactly by doing what you suggested.

Pretty good for me and for the moment in any case. :)

    Let me explain:

As you suggest, I created a new user account, restarted the computer and connected with the new account. And Yes, magic, the problem did not appear.

So I happily spent at step 2 of your recommendation that would transfer all my data to this new account to use as the master account.

But while I was browsing windows to copy my data the problem reappeared.

So after some research and a few tests, I realized that the question was in fact a video file on my desktop. An .asf file to COM surrogate could not create a thumbnail *. Perhaps because of a mistake or missing codec? In any case, deleting, I solved the problem.

Hope this feedback will help others and I hope that will come a software fix.

    Best regards

    * The COM Surrogate is a fancy name for sacrificial processes for a COM object that is running outside the process which has asked. Explorer uses the COM Surrogate during extraction of thumbnails, for example. If you go to a folder with thumbnails enabled, Explorer will trigger a COM Surrogate and use it to calculate the thumbnails for documents in the folder. It does because Explorer has learned not to trust miniature extractors; they have a poor track record of stability.

  • Unable to delete the dllhost.exe process that slows down my computer

    Original title: dllhost.exe

Last week (about 20 October 2014) dllhost.exe began to multiply com surrogate sessions until it slows down or blocks my request. I read through the answers and no address my situation: laptop Asus, Win7 64 bit, with 6 GB of RAM only games that come with Windows MS or MS Word (2007). The only way I can continue to do work is to maintain a process of window open and close each process manually. The last "update" was wrong somehow?

If this problem coincided with an update of windows, run windows Update, see history and tell us what KB update have been installed to date

You can also try a clean boot, and then see the problem is replicated

  • iP7220 causes dllhost.exe COM Sorrogate loop using 100% cpu

Just bought a new iP7220 of the Amazon and installed on my Vista Home Premium 32-bit machine.  Installation has caused a massive downturn resulting in a dllhost.exe - loop of COM Surrogate that consumes 100% of my CPU, and most of my RAM.  No idea why... and what to do about it?

  • Question of running - y dllhost.exe and dllhost.exe processes * 32 (COM Surrogate) safe?

    Hello

I have a question about some process running for all users in the Task Manager.  I noticed the following:

    Dllhost.exe
    Dllhost.exe * 32 (COM Surrogate)

These processes are safe?  Dllhost.exe * 32 y remains fundamentally, but dllhost.exe comes and goes.  One or the other of these processes would be malware?

    Thank you
