Question of running - y dllhost.exe and dllhost.exe processes * 32 (COM Surrogate) safe?

Hello

I have a question about some process running for all users in the Task Manager.  I noticed the following:

Dllhost.exe
Dllhost.exe * 32 (COM Surrogate)

These processes are safe?  Dllhost.exe * 32 y remains fundamentally, but dllhost.exe comes and goes.  One or the other of these processes would be malware?

Thank you
M

Hi clearlyembarrassed,

Two processes are used by many programs on the computer.

See the link below to learn more about the process in the Task Manager.

You can also check whether a third-party program is using this service trying to clean boot procedure.

See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

  1. Click Start , and then click run.
  2. Type msconfig , and then click OK.
The System Configuration utility dialog box appears.
  3. Click the general tab, click Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services , and then click OK.
  4. When you are prompted, click restart to restart the computer.

  • COM Surrogate (dllhost.exe) and question of loading folder

    Hi all

There are 2 problems that I think are related, but I could be wrong:

    1. Some files are loading very slowly (or even does not at all). The framework itself is displayed instantly, but the content is not and the Green loading bar in the address bar is.
    2. Surrogate COM (dllhost.exe) is always eat up to 13% of the CPU (so I guess that 100% of a wire with a processor of threads 4 cores x 2 I).

Running on Windows 7 x 64, all updates installed.

I saw a bunch of related issues here but with apparently different sources. I tried already to:

    • Run the System File Checker: no problem.
    • Run Microsoft Safety scanner: no problem.
    • Check the system drive to find errors: no problems.
    • Run Microsoft Fixit performance: some software/services launches at startup, but don't see any suspicious things.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you very much!

    Niranjan salvation!

And thank you for your fast answer :)

First of all, my problem is (partly) solved! But not exactly by doing what you suggested.

Pretty good for me and for the moment in any case. :)

    Let me explain:

As you suggest, I created a new user account, restarted the computer and connected with the new account. And Yes, magic, the problem did not appear.

So I happily spent at step 2 of your recommendation that would transfer all my data to this new account to use as the master account.

But while I was browsing windows to copy my data the problem reappeared.

So after some research and a few tests, I realized that the question was in fact a video file on my desktop. An .asf file to COM surrogate could not create a thumbnail *. Perhaps because of a mistake or missing codec? In any case, deleting, I solved the problem.

Hope this feedback will help others and I hope that will come a software fix.

    Best regards

    * The COM Surrogate is a fancy name for sacrificial processes for a COM object that is running outside the process which has asked. Explorer uses the COM Surrogate during extraction of thumbnails, for example. If you go to a folder with thumbnails enabled, Explorer will trigger a COM Surrogate and use it to calculate the thumbnails for documents in the folder. It does because Explorer has learned not to trust miniature extractors; they have a poor track record of stability.

  • Toilet Bowl Flushing cursor dllhost.exe (Com Surrogate) question

My system still be plagued by an erratic problem where when I right click on an icon of office, or the arrow that develops a folder in Microsoft Explorer, the cursor will be starts to turn and does not stop until I go in the Manager of tasks and select DllHost.exe (COM Surrogate) and select "END process". This way I can describe the cursor to this place is that it looks like water when you flush the toilet! As soon as I close COM surrogate the cursor returns to normal and I am able to continue then all operations without problem. It seems that this happens more frequently when I had Internet Explorer open. Things I did to solve this problem are the following:

    1. Done a fresh install of Windows 7 64-bit and all programs. S
    2. Updated all drivers and programs to their latest revisions.
    3. Run Malwarebytes, an anti Root Kit MRT and Windows Defender Of-Line (booted from DVD) and find all own.
    4. Perform a clean boot.
    5. sfc/scannow

LLA a recommendation that I have not done is to go into Data Execution Prevention (DEP) and disable DEP for COM surrogate (one in SysWOW64 (cannot disable one in System 32 folder).)

Other suggestions for something try to solve this problem?

    Hello

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community.

From your post, it seems that you are facing problems with dllhost.exe (Com Surrogate).

    Try these steps and check:

    Method 1:

To find out if the problem is with windows or some hardware connected to the computer, I would say that you look up the number in safe mode . If the problem occurs in Mode safe, then one of the Windows Service can cause the problem.

    Method 2:

You can also go into Data Execution Prevention (DEP) and disable DEP for COM surrogate. To change the setting of the DEP and for more information on DEP check the links provided.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/change-data-execution-prevention-settings

  • Dllhost.exe * 32 - Com Surrogate

From October 18, 2014 Windows Update, my task manager will show perhaps 30 cases of dllhost.exe * 32 - COM Surrogate, consume 100% of CPU and about 6 GB of RAM.

I ran: Norton Full Scan, Emsisoft Anti-Malware, Norton Power Eraser and Microsoft Malware removal. Found nothing even the slightest threat. I also ran "sfc/scannow" at the command prompt. He fixed a single file in the audio driver, nothing else.

If I reboot and open the Task Manager but nothing, the problem may not start for a while. But if I open Windows Explorer, it starts immediately, crushing system with dllhost.exe * 32 - Com Surrogate

I've seen a lot of comments online about the same topic. But nobody seems to have a definitive solution, or find the cause.

If you are familiar with this issue and have a solution, please share. :)

    Thank you

Win 7-64 HomePrem running on Corsair SSD, 8 GB RAM, AMD 1090 t.

I had the same problem and here is how I fixed it:

I went in C:\Windows and the SysWOW64 folder right click and choose PROPERTIES.

I clicked SECURITY and click ADVANCED to give me ownership of this file. then I went back to SAFETY and gave myself (as admin) full control of this file. Then I deleted the file dllhost in the SysWOW64 folder and rebooted. The problem was gone.

You will probably need to open Windows Task Manager, check the box "Show processes from all users" and continually with the right button to COMPLETE the PROCESS to stop the offending files of dllhost in order to achieve this, but it will work.

Last week (about 20 October 2014) dllhost.exe began to multiply com surrogate sessions until it slows down or blocks my request. I read through the answers and no address my situation: laptop Asus, Win7 64 bit, with 6 GB of RAM only games that come with Windows MS or MS Word (2007). The only way I can continue to do work is to maintain a process of window open and close each process manually. The last "update" was wrong somehow?

If this problem coincided with an update of windows, run windows Update, see history and tell us what KB update have been installed to date

    Hello

Would you explain why you want to remove it?

Hosting controls process COM + Treaty in the Internet Services (IIS) and is used by many programs. For example, it loads the .NET runtime. There may be more than one instance of the DLLhost.exe process.

    Hi MAMARDA,

Welcome to the Microsoft Vista answers Forum!

I would like to ask you a few questions in order to get a better understanding of this issue so that we can better help you.

    (a) what version of Windows 7 use you?

    (b) what is the exact error message you are getting?

Method 1: You can also try to perform a file system (scan SFC) verification tool. This tool will fix the system files are corrupted.

    Scan SFC enforcement procedure:

    1. click on the Start button

    2. on the Start Menu, click all programs followed by accessories

    3. in the menu accessories, right-click on command line option

    4. in the drop-down menu that appears, click the "Run as Administrator" option

    5. If you have the User Account Control (UAC) enabled, you will be asked permission before the opening of the command line. You simply press the button continue if you are the administrator or insert password etc.

    6. in the command prompt window, type: sfc/scannow then press enter

    7. a message is displayed to indicate that "the analysis of the system will start.

    8. be patient because the analysis may take some time

    9. If all the files need replace SFC will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Vista DVD for this process to continue

    10. If all goes although you should, after the analysis, see the following message "Windows resource protection not found any breach of integrity.

    11. once the scan is finished, close the command prompt window, restart the computer and check.

Method 2: If this is a recent problem that has developed you can try to perform a system restore and check if it works very well.

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    2. in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next

    3. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next

    4. click on finish

Note: When you perform the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

For more information, please follow the below given link:

How to repair the operating system and how to restore the configuration of the operating system to an earlier point in time in Windows Vista

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/936212/

Method 3: you can try to start safe mode and restore the system, if you are unable to do it in normal mode.

For a safe boot, you can follow the below given steps:

    1. remove all floppy disks, CDs and DVDs from your computer and restart your computer.

Click the Start button, click the arrow next to the button lock and then click on restart.

    2. do one of the following:

    a. If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer.

    b. If your computer has multiple operating systems, use the arrow keys to select the operating system you want to start in safe mode, and then press F8.

When you are in safe mode, follow the steps mentioned above to complete the restore of the system.

    Hope the helps of information.
Please post back and we do know.

  • question of Dr - ip - customizer.exe

I packed my CSV file as input for drip - customizer.exe, now I would like to use it on my

    the protected recovery plan.

The question is: at what point (step) of the stimulus package, I have to insert the cmd of drip - customizer.exe with all the correct settings?

    Thanks in advance a cordially

    VMB

So, you have created the csv file by using the command "generate" and then filled it with ip information?

Now you must run Dr.-ip-customizer with the command 'create '. This will be:

-create custom specifications (for a sysprep answer files) for all virtual machines listed in the CSV of entry

-attach the plug custom VMs placeholder that tells SRM to run the command sysprep and change network settings as part of the recovery plan (step "change network settings")

  • ePub creation - TOC FILE MISSING - questions with 7zip VS zip.exe

Since this question is not really answered - that is to say, the same problems are produce I found elsewhere the ePub Script, I need to reup the question.

Here's my biggest problem - when 7zip is selected BY RoboHelp to generate an ePub, it does not work.

However, when RoboHelp tells me to select zip.exe in stahlforce.com/dev/zip.exe, it works fine.

But there is no way for me to put the ZIP. EXE as the standard when I create an ePub and run the script - he immediately says TOC FILE MISSING as it does the file NCX (TOC) creation.

    Warnings:

    I always get an error.

This occurs if the XML file generate is in the folder SSL project or not, no matter whether on a C drive or a drive E (or a network drive, USB stick, etc etc etc)

If I manage to, by some MIRACLE, he can use zip.exe instead, it will compile happily with a table of contents.

My system path already has System32 inside. No need to change it.

    System: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

    7zip: latest version

    RoboHelp: 9.0.2 in ATCS3

    So far, I have:

1 removed all spaces in my project name and outputs ePub by this post: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3155109#3155109

    2. followed the instructions of Praful letter after having contacted him to find out exactly how we're going about adding the system32 in path variables.

    3. run the generator fifty - nine times.

Out of those fifty - nine times, I also have:

    A. downloaded 32 bit 7zip used as the source Zip and it craps the bed with a missing TOC error message. No go.

    B. downloaded 64-bit 7zip used as the source Zip and it craps the bed with a missing TOC error message. No go.

Zip.exe c. downloaded as requested, used as the source Zip, HOORAY! It works!

    D. try to replicate, it goes back to 7zip and craps the bed. KHAAAAAAAAAAAN!

Now I did this on my C (SSD) drive and my drive E (a regular storage drive) and used RoboHelp in two places, that on both the C and the E drive all is content (project, file, exit) at the same place. I did it on systems clean and 'dirty' and all. UNIQUE. TIME. RoboHelp blithely informs me that there is no TOC file.

When this happens, it's ALWAYS when it tells me to use 7zip instead of, let's say "zip.exe.

    robohelp_epubbedcrapping.png

    Like this.

My default ePub reader has been Adobe Digital Editions. She always does.

I changed the default ePub for Sony Reader Library drive. She always does.

I changed the default ePub to gauge reader. SHE IS ALWAYS.

I did it with drive C as the unique environment system.

I did it with the drive E as the unique environment system.

I even installed RoboHelp on a computer with a single hard drive and did nothing, but generate this file.

When RoboHelp wonder for zip.exe location, it compiles BEAUTIFULLY.

But then he goes immediately to 7zip and craps the bed.

Now, when I say "There is always this", I mean that I returned to all the variables from that moment. So, when you get to 'Drive C as the system of unique environment' which means all that above, I did with this condition.

So to answer the question in abeyance, "What is your system?" it's in Windows 7 Professional 64 bit running.

Yes, I tried the path of Praful system variable.

    Yes, I tried clean installs.

Yes, I tried it on a solo record.

Yes, I've tried it on a clean build of Win7.

Yes, I tried all of this.

He's still crapping the bed when it comes to the path of TOC disappeared.

As some authors have said, there no errors in the log. There are no files not referenced, no oddity in the project naming conventions, nothing.

But if she goes to 7zip, it craps the bed.

If she stays with zip.exe, that's fine.

So, what else can you guys help out here with? This isn't a terribly difficult thing - to compile an ePub is really not that difficult. But what I need to know is that could possibly do to solve this problem?

Is there a setting to make the zip extension zip.exe in ONLY in the script? Which seems to work, but RoboHelp like return to 7zip.

Like others, I have followed these instructions very closely, but it seems to always be a "oh yes, make sure that..." "that comes with RoboHelp who never gets bound upward in the manuals.

So, what's the next "Oh yes, make sure that '? I would like to know because frankly, at this point RoboHelp made less useful work the creator of ePub $40 program I bought of frustration with the process of generation of ePub.

Hi, 7zip is the old method of zipping toward the top of the epub. When you install 902, a new script is provided, but you need to make it accessible by hand. Maybe this new version allows to your problems.

    See the 9.0.2. README:

    output ePub

After you install the hotfix, copy the script to update ePub Generator.jsx of [InstallDir] / RoboHTML/settings presets/scripts/in the following location:

    • Windows XP: [USER] / Application Data/Adobe/RoboHTML/9.00/Scripts/Sample Scripts.
    • Windows 7: [USER]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/RoboHTML/9.00/Scripts/Sample Scripts /]

A little bit of guessing here: are there special characters (e, to, etc.) in the name of your project? The output XML really should OCD assigned for output?

Would it not possible to share the project so that we can take a look?

  • Camera Assistant stoped working - CANT RUN CEC_MAIN. EXE

    Hello world

just a quick and, hopefully, an easy determination.
I tried to use my webcam and facilities of the camera on my laptop, and whenever I click on it says:

"CANNOT RUN CEC_MAIN. EXE PLEASE REINSTALL THIS PROGRAM!

I removed the program and tried to reinstall, but the problem is still happening.

If someone would be kind enough to help me, I appreciate it

    Concerning

    Hello

I have no idea what happened, but the solution is simple.
The message has already provided some information what to do to solve this problem.
You need to reinstall the webcam software.

First you need to remove/uninstall the old software webcam system

Then go to the page European driver Toshiba and download the webcam software:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com

Then, unzip the and run the exe file. Complete the installation, restart the device and retest the cam.

  • VI Analyzer Questions: Change the default test configuration and screw "Pavilion".

I have two things I continue to come through in VI Analyzer:

    1. are there in any case to set the default VI Analyzer so that it applies to all projects, I'm working on that?

I tried to create a task in project A, registration of the configuration and any attempt to open this file in project B, but it says that the file could not be loaded. The reason for my question is that there are a few default options that just add errors that we don't care (e.g. Controls dialog on the façade - 99% of the LabVIEW code that we are working on is called from TestStand as code modules, so the front panel doesn't really count)

    2. can I score / report some screws as 'safe' for parser tests?

Basically, some screws may fail some perfectly safe way VI Analyzer tests (e.g. non-stanard errors on a 'closing' VI, who doesn't have a case error structure so that the device always gets closed). I wish I had a way to mark the VI kind VI Analyzer would ignore this particular test. This would allow me to have a rule that says something like "before any construction, run the file configuration VI analyzer and make sure there is not error", as opposed to "run VI Analyzer and examine errors, decide whether or not they are important for the VI in question..." ». An extension to this question would be how do I perform a task VI Analyzer before building when the VI Analyzer screw do not accept files cfg for project based tasks.

Any help would be greately appreciated!

    Thank you

    Shaun

    1. a project oriented .cfg file cannot be transferred between projects.  Could you possibly create a .cfg unrelated to the project file (under the option 'Start a new task' on the first page of the VI Analyzer) and use it?  He would have no file in the list, but it would have all of the configured tests as you want.  And you could start with this on your different projects .cfg file... you would just add screws based on file (on page 2 of the VI Analyzer), rather than have all come to you in a .cfg project-based.

    2. on page 4 VI Analyzer, you can exclude certain tests to run on some screws and save these settings in a .cfg.  This option is also exposed in the VI Analyzer API with VIAn exclude the VI.vi Tests.

  • HP Pavilion notebook e117dx 17: PC runs is not on and isn't showing any signs of slot voltage

Hey all! It's my first day here, so I apologize if my question format is incorrect. The other day, my laptop does not turn on and showed no sign of slot voltage. I contacted customer support, and the issue has been resolved. That night, I closed the lid, which puts to sleep, and then soon Hibernate. Yesterday morning I tried to turn it on and received the same question. I contacted customer service and they said maybe that's a problem with my hardware. I was hoping that if all users would know additional measures to be taken, before getting my laptop repaired. I followed all the troubleshooting steps. Thank you!

If I helped you, feel free to give me congratulations and accept my answer!

    Best regards
    Shawn

    @Shawnyg,

Hello and thanks for the display on the HP support forums.  The only thing you can check is to run the diagnostics from the bios if you can get.

Laptops HP - diagnostic system (F2)

If you can not enter the diagnostics, check for any code flashing of the LED.

HP Notebook PC - troubleshooting LED Blink Codes or beep during startup or start-up Codes

If you can't find please contact support for repair options.

Thanks again for posting and have a great day.

can I run advance care system and Panda at the same time.

You posted on a forum for users of the software program anti-malware for Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE).

Advanced System Care is a registry cleaner - we do not recommend the use of such programs in this forum.

Or we can provide information about the use of the Panda products.

Suggest that you only contact Advanced System Care Support and Panda support about your question.
