4240 IPS management interface MAC address

Hi all

I use DHCP in my network. And I need to book a single IP address for the Interface of management of the IPS.

I tried to get the MAC but could not. It is not yet on the Show of support.

Can a please tell me how to get the MAC address IP management interface?

If the interface to see the output does not give you this information, you can connect via the service account and run the command "ifconfig - a". Just make sure you do a 'su' - otherwise this command is not available.

Please note if useful :)

  • MAC address of the system of comments in Bridge mode

Real quick question that I could not an idea says the response of previous forum posts.

I have a piece of software that allowed off the coast of the MAC to the NETWORK card it uses.  We are ready to move to a virtualized environment, but you need to know to apply for a new license or not.  Our server has 4 GigE ports so it's not a lack of ports bridge-able.  So, if we have configured our guest with two NIC bridged interfaces, the NIC guest will have a MAC VMWare virtual or he will inherit the host NIC MAC?

    Hello

    the answer is Yes.

Who manages the mac address of comments is usually vmware (virtualization software). If you want to use a mac outside the specific vmware mac address ranges (static or dynamic), then you should check the first link on my previous post.

If the virtual machine running the software with license always must be run on a computer invited vmware, I recommend you to buy a new license and by setting a static of vmware mac address after the second link in my post above. In this case who runs the mac of comments is VMware.

In any case if you want comments holds his old mac address, then the path follows the first link on my post above.

    Best wishes / Saludos.

  • Changing the MAC address of the network management

    Hello

We have 2 servers ESXi 4 in our network. We do not know why, but both have the same MAC address on the network card virtual for the management network. That's a lot of problems with the connectivity of one of ESXi servers.

Is it possible to change the MAC address?

    Best regards

    Robert

Removal and addition of the vswif of the service console should generate a new MAC address.

    esxcfg-vswif - l

    Note the detail.

    esxcfg-vswif vswifN d

where N represents the number of vswif, d Deletes

    esxcfg-vswif - a n-i < IP > < vswifN > < portgroup > Pei, netmask

is the command to add a new vswif, even when N is the number of vswif.

  • MAC addresses of our network interface cards physical on the ESX host

I asked a very interesting question.   What is the MAC address for each physical network cards within our ESX host.   Our host ESX3.5Update4 has 6 of them.

I am able to ESXCfg allows to identify the vNIC but assimilates to the physical network adapters?   or, how can I find the MAC address of the physical network adapters?

No, I mean there are additional MAC addresses that the switch can 'see '.  The service console interface have a MAC, and address that will be displayed if you run 'ifconfig', but vmkernel will not be displayed in this way, use "esxcfg-vmknic - l" to display this MAC address.  The virtual machine each have their own of the MAC you can get that from their configuration files, or the vi client.

  • ASA5515X-IPS management 0/0 to the LAN

I have installed recently two ASA5515X in a/s each with the ID. When I got in the lab, I was able to access the IPS through EMI but now that he's in the data center it doesn't (of course). I have the IP addresses that are configured with an IP address on our local area network and the ASA Management0/0 interface configured as:

    interface Management0/0

    No nameif

    security-level 100

    no ip address

    management only

Management0/0 interface is plugged into a switchport on our networks VLAN. The ASA's see the IPS that up, and I checked the IPS network settings. Any ideas? I forgot something? TIA!

    Hello

Very well. Let us know any update.

The person in charge of the case will have access to the area so that he or she will be able to run a few catches.

It's weird that you don't have the MAC address of the IPS module on the switch, I would check the topology of layer 2 first.

  • Security ports SG 300 - 52-2 Mac addresses on Port 1

    Hello

I have a 300-52 52-Port Gigabit Managed Switch Cisco SG. On the switch, I have two ports that are connected to the vlan comments.

Now, I want to activate the safety of port on both ports. Is it possible to allow two addresses on a port?

This is because there are two users who use this two ports. But the organizers can't users use the same all the time.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Dominique

Hi Dominique, to add to the post of Christopher, if you wait 2 addresses on a port, but these 2 connections can connect to a different port, you can configure security of the static ports or dynamic for these ports.

Here are 2 documents to help you.

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/docs/doc-27720

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/docs/doc-27753

If you choose to use static MAC entries you can duplicate entries for the different interfaces.

In addition, as an alternative, if you know the IP address and MAC address you can use dynamic arp inspection and achieve similar results much more strictly.

  • ESX uses network adapter with the mac address that is different than virtual connect reports

    Hi all

Our ESX environment consists of HP C7000 enclosure, virtual connect 1 gb ethernet with a mixture of BL480c and BL460c. We just bought some new BL460c G7 with NIC NC553i to replace some of the oldest BL480c. We have configured Virtual Connect to assign mac addresses. In vc management consoleI see the addresses assigned to the server, but when I start the server displays a different mac address for nic #2 that vc does. NIC #1 has the same mac address of console management vc and in the server BIOS. When I install ESX also sees the 'wrong' for #2 nic mac address. According to vmware nic #2 has not any network connected to what should be if it was really nic #2 (according to the vc management console).

When I look at the mac addresses in the BIOS none of the network interface card have the mac address assigned by vc. VC firmware is 3.01. I have attached the photos I see information in the management of VC and BIOS console. Someone at - it for clues to what is happening and how can I solve it? Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards

Note:   The ESX host uses following addresses starting with 00:50:56 (as opposed to the address embedded in the interface itself).

To determine the MAC address of the interface Board of the ESX host, run the command:
    # ifconfig | grep-i hw
    The output looks like:
    vswif0 Link encap HWaddr 00:50:56:41:5 A: 59
The MAC address is in the first line after HWaddr.  In this example, the MAC address is 00:50:56:41:5 has: 59.

Note:   The ESX host uses following addresses starting with 00:50:56 (as opposed to the address embedded in the interface itself).

You can also review the output information and the esxcfg-NICS - l order MAC addresses.

NIC seems to work fine with whatever he chooses - but how MAC address can be change by itself?

    > NIC seems to work fine with whatever he chooses - but how MAC address can be change by itself?

The physical MAC address is not editable, but there are a few ways to spoof the mac address
For example, using Windows XP, the MAC address can be changed in the properties of the Ethernet adapter. On the Advanced tab, under "MAC address", "Locally administered address", "Ethernet address" or "network address". The name of this option depends on the Lan driver that is installed on your laptop. And important note; not all drivers are supported changing the MAC address of this way.

In addition the system registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} contains some parameters of the network interface and the option called NetworkAddress will serve to set the MAC address.

There are also tools that could spoof the address MAC for example, SMAC MAC Address Changer.
Finally and above all some routers provide an option to change the MAC address.

  • MAC address and P1102W

This is my first post here.  I just bought a new P1102w printer.  I put it up to use USB.  Now I want to use wireless, but I use a MAC filter through my router.  I think I found the MAC address of the printer.  He was under the hardware address and 12 characters.  I entered in my router.  Now how I swtch USB wireless?  I tried to read the manual but couldn't find it.  I did unplug the USB cable and press the wireless button, but nothing happened.  I tried to print a page but nothing printed.   Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you

First of all, MAC filtering is not an effective security measure, and it makes your difficult to manage network.  Read more about it here.

Start by unplugging the USB cable between the printer and the PC.  If you use Windows: start > all programs > Hewlett-Packard > [your printer model] > add a device.  When he asks, choose a network device and follow the instructions.

If this does not work, download the latest version of the software for your printer from the "Support & drivers" link at the top of this page.

  • Find the MAC address of the host remotely logged on to a domain

    Hello

I work in an environment where we use the thin client (Sun ray DTU) to connect to sessions. The sessions are communicated through solaris servers, and windows servers. Explain further, the thin client connects user to the layers of solaris that connects to windows to allow the user a session window. Window servers are in a private domain. I collect the windows logs via the software (Application, security, installation, System) agent. My question is, HOW do I GET the MAC ADDRESS OF THE THIN CLIENTS? Yes, the MAC address is present in every system that connects to the Internet and runs any version of Windows.

MAC address stands for Media Access Control (MAC address) is a unique identifier assigned to the network interfaces for communications on the physical network segment.

To find the MAC address on Windows XP computer try the steps below.

    (a) click the start menu button in the Windows taskbar.

    (b) click 'run... '. "in this menu.

    (c) type "cmd" in the text box that appears. A command prompt window launches on the desktop.

    (d) in the command window, type ' ipconfig/all'. The details are displayed for each of the network adapters on the computer. Computers installed with the software VPN or software emulation will have one or more virtual cards.

    (e) the "IP address" field contains the IP address of the network card.

    (f) the 'physical address' field contains the MAC address of the card.
