5.1 ESXi hypervisor: embedded network card fails on HP ML350p G8

Install ESXi hypervisor to 5.1 fails, causing no network adapters not detected!

Installation stops at the configuration of the network, causing no network interface card

Material is marked as compatible VMware.

When I install WinServer 2008R2 as an operating system, there are problems,

are all the current and functional network card, also the function of the team for failover and load balancing.

So, the material is OK.

Can someone help me?

  • WLAN, lan, dmz on esxi with 2 network cards

    Hello

I'm newbie esxi. What I'm trying to achieve on my esxi server is simple firewall/gw between internet (vmnic1), LAN (vmnix0) and DMZ. I have only physical 2 NICs in my server, DMZ should be "completely collapsed DMZ. I intend to have 1 web server (www, ftp) in the DMZ, 2 LAN and smoothwall acting as firewall servers.

After reading some pdf files and some forum discussions I've come with an attached 'Networking' design.

Could you experts please check design and advise me how secure is it and where are the potential pitfalls?

COS you need to manage your esxi server.

    The following work of wll:

An Esx3i server with two physical network (Teddy) interfaces

    pNic0 connected to the internet

pNic1 connected to your local network

3 vSwitches configured, one for each natachasery and one internal vSwitch (DMZ)

Comments "Smoothwall" configured with 3 network cards, one for Internet, a local network, and a DMZ.

Guests in the DMZ must be created with vNic on the DMZ vSwitch.

SmoothWall manages the firewall and passes the correct port_number, etc. to the ip address in the DMZ.

Today, I got my laptop Toshiba Satellite C855-S5349N. It was Windows 8 now its 7 I had to erase the entire disk and the backup drive too, coz I couldn't t install Win7.

After installing Win7 I wanted to connect to my Wi - Fi connection it wasn t it doesn't matter what Wi - Fi connection it s such as disabled but when I tried to enable no adapter was there.

So I went to Manager tools and it was hidden but everything was installed, but no external device they were like for the Ethernet controller network controller and 2 more were there with the yellow triangle, but I didn t installed all the drivers after coz installed windows 7 I n t had no driver disk ,

    What should I do?

If I understand the question: you are not able to use the wireless Internet not LAN. Is this correct?
Probably, you have not installed right driver LAN or WLan.

  • Network card for ESXi 5.5 on 10 Workstation

I have a comments 5.5 ESXi hypervisor running on a 5.5 ESXi hypervisor host. I used vCenter Standalone Converter 5.5.2 to convert the hypervisor of comments to a VMWare Workstation VM (v10).

Now the network card is not recognized by the hypervisor of comments ESXI 5.5 running in workstation 10. Specifically, the error is "no compatible network adapter found. For a list of the cards taken in charge, please consult the Hardware Compatibility Guide (HCG) products'. Networking on the hypervisor of comments on the ESXi 5.5 running hypervisor host works very well.

I tried to remove the adapter and recreate in my computer, and it didn't is not that many settings in VMWare Workstation for network cards so I don't know what I could do wrong.

    Notes:

    • I was originally the guest ESXi works normally on 10 Workstation (put in a network all worked) and I actually used the stand-alone converter to implement on the ESXi host in the first place. So from my point of view I basically just downloaded and then downloaded again and the network card has stopped working - but I'm sure it's more complicated than that.
    • I added vhv.enable = "true" in the vmx file twice after the conversion of the virtual machine.
    • I enabled 'Virtualiser EPT-x/Intel VT or AMD-V/IVR' in the settings of the processor.
    • The prompt that is running on the ESXi ESXi host, I had the network configured to be promiscuous, but I don't think I can do it again on my computer one because the ESXi guest cannot yet see the NIC at this stage.

I believe that the default ethernet to guestOS adapter type 'other' is vLance.  Open the settings of the virtual machine and try to change the operating system invited to 'ESXi 5.x.

Everything appears normally, BOOT from CD, copying files, early and late services, appears "not found network card remember that you at least have a network card to connect to the system", there is only the choice to have an ABORTION. Any help? The card is one Intel (R) 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection.

    Welcome to the community,

Please take a look at http://www.virten.net/2013/09/esxi-5-x-installation-on-intel-nuc-fails-with-no-network-adapters/ for more information on how to customize the installation image to recognize your network card. When you install ESXi as a virtual machine in VMware Workstation, it is not the physical NETWORK adapter which is presented to the virtual machine, but a virtual NETWORK adapter for which ESXi uses built-in drivers.

  • Grouping of NETWORK cards causing the ESXi to retransmit ethernet frames received.

I had an HP Proliant DL380 G5 ESXi 5.1.0 connected to a Cisco 3750 Switch stack.

All by performing a tcpdump on a host without a report, I discovered that he was under the bombardment with ethernet frames for the MAC address of a computer virtual located on a host across the data center. After a few brief troubleshooting, I discovered that I was able to stop those erroneous frames by disabling NETWORK adapters on my VMWare host group.

I believe that in my situation when ESXi is configured to use two network cards to all frames received on vmnic0 and retransmits them on vmnic1 and vice-vesa. I experienced these symptoms when ESXi is configured for failover with an active adapter and adapter mode standby and I also experienced the same symptoms in the following load balancing configuration.

Symptoms: some time after activating the load balancing, all frames Ethernet for the MAC address of a virtual computer on the affected host are broadcast on each switch port in the entire data center.

    Steps to reproduce:
    (1) implementation below configuration.
    (2) unplug the ethernet cable connecting vmnic1 and switch1 port gi2/0/4
    (3) run the host 1.1.1.1 EI - n - q tcpdump on any machine physics linux in the data center (don't even have to be connected directly to 1).
Confirm there is no packet seen with the IP address of 1.1.1.1 destination
    (4) plug the cable between vmnic1 and switch1 gi2/0/4 port ethernet
    (5) wait 60 to 120 seconds
    (6) watch a burst of frames ethernet with the destination MAC address of the VM (which owns 1.1.1.1) in the output of tcpdump

    Cisco Configuration:

    hostname switch1

I apologize for the delay in my response.

Unplug physically 2 cable NETWORK card on the host and configuration mirrored port on the switchport to 1 NETWORK adapter of the host, I have been able to confirm that the host VMWare issues guides on NIC1 with a destination MAC address of one of its own VM.

After carefully reviewing the captured data, I noticed that the destination frames wrong "02:bf:cb:50:a2:76" MAC address actually belonged to "Local Area Connection 1' one of my Windows 2003 Server WHAT VM installed on the suspected host.

Dig a little deeper, I discovered that this virtual NETWORK card is presented to the operating system as
    Name: Local 1 network connection
"Type: VMware Accelerated AMD PCNet adapt."
    MAC: 02-BF-CB-50-A2-76

But the configuration of the virtual machine in vCentre is
    Name: Network adapter 1
    Type: Flexible
    MAC: 00: 0C: 29:fa:e8:83

    Note the different MAC addresses.

Digging a little further I discovered that Windows 2003 server has configured on "Local 1 network connection" network load balancing and NLB is the cause of the altered MAC address.

Rather than to investigate further I have just placed a load balancer linux before the server windows 2003 cluster and that you turn off NLB.

But I suspect that there is still a fundamental problem in the Virtual Switch VMware with how he learns the MAC addresses of the virtual machine is using flexible vNIC. In particular, with a virtual machine that uses a form to override the MAC address such as that used by NLB.

  • TP-LINK network card in ESXi 5.0

Hello guys. I am preparing to a lab for testing only environment. I have an ESXi 5.0 installed on my machine, it works very well with the Integrated NIC, no problem at all. But I want to use a virtual machine second for the purposes of the router + WiFi access point, so I bought a TP-LINK Model: TL-WN781ND, it's a NIC of Wireless N 150 Mbps unfortunately ESXi 5.0 does not seem to recognize it so I can't assign to any virtual computer.

    My question is:

Is it possible to install a driver for the NETWORK card is recognized by ESX? Or at least move the PCI-E port to the guest VM and it manages (the driver etc.)

    Thank you very much.

Hello and welcome to the communities.

Since the latest drivers provided by VMware, WiFi cards are not supported.

That leaves us the possibility of giving a PassThrough to the virtual machine using DirectPath

You must enable VT - D in your BIOS > configuration of the processor so its a intel and IOMMU if its an AMD processor and condition your card network is supported under VMware VMDirect taken supported hardware http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-11089

While many non-supported hardware is still working under DirectPath, you should give it a try to see if your card works

  • NETWORK card not detected after installing ESXi 4.1?

    Hi all

I installed the ESXi Server 4.1 on a single server with the following configurations,

    CPU = Intel (R) CPU Xeon X 3430 @ 2.40 GHz

    Memory = 16GB

    NIC = Intel 82574 L Gigabit Network connection-2 no

After that ESXi installation a NIC card not detected. But two cards network is the same configuration. Due to this problem, I can not configure grouping of NETWORK cards. Please suggest me. Thanks in advance.

    Hello!

On the screenshot that you are using a motherboard Intel S3420GP. Just a NETWORK card is 82574L, the other on board is a 82578DM, which is not supported. So you will need additional network cards.

    See you soon,.

  • 4 network cards on the question of the ESXi

    Hello

    DL380 G7 4 integrated.

Please suggest NIC config and transfer of intellectual property. Is THAT DHCP are possible for virtual machines?

    THX.

You offer 2 NICs for the management. Should I have the IP static 2 concerning best practices in this situation? I had planned a.

No, just an IP address.  You can also place the second NIC in the standby mode, so that it is available only if the first fails.

And other physical 2 network cards must be static. As I mentioned VMs will use only STATIC.

I separate the VM network outside vSwitch0 and create a new vSwitch just for the network of the VM.  Entrust these two network cards and that's it.  There will be no IP addresses for the vSwitch for the network of the VM.  Just give IP addresses to your virtual machines.

  • ESXi does not recognize the PCI network cards

    Good afternoon-

I am trying to add a few new ESXi hosts to my virtual machine environment and I want my NIC integrated with the PCI NICs for tolerance to failures of the team.  ESXi is not to see the PCI network cards.  I can't find a way on how to add them to the host.  Add network cards in VC shows just the cards integrated network, the same as the ESXi console (or what there is of it).  What I'm missing here?  Thanks in advance.

Is what model of network interface cards?  You may need to install drivers for them - http://downloads.vmware.com/d/info/datacenter_downloads/vmware_vsphere_4/4#drivers_tools.

  • Best way to set up a host of ESXi 4 with only 3 network cards?

Set us up an ESXi 4 Host with 3 cards.  It is a stand-alone server that will not connect to the SAN FC network.  However, we respect the vStorage VM function if necessary.

With only 3 cards on hand, there's any suggestion on the speed and the consolidation of NETWORK cards that we set up?  Our network administrator wants to give us only 1 x 1 Gbps Connection + 2 x 100 Mbit/s.

    Your suggestion is requested

    Thank you

    Post edited by: TonyJK

Since you do not connect to FC SAN I guess you have local storage or storage over IP.

In this case it is recommended to dedicated 1Gbit link for IP storage. If you can not have dedicated you will share Gbit link between the storage on IP and VMs.

100 MBit NIC cand be used only:

    (1) dedicated storage VMotion or IP management interface

    (2) relief links networks of VM and management failover

You definitely need at least 2 running on Gbit network cards

  • not supported for ESXi 4 NIC... Can I simply add a NETWORK card?

Maybe it's painfully obvious, but I don't want to assume anything.  I tried to install ESXi 4u1 this morning on a machine just to see if it would work, and I have not reported any supported network cards.  Can I buy a NETWORK card support and then ESXi 4 will work?  Is it really as simple as that, or is there some other stuff that I'm not aware of?
