5 GHz not appearing is not on Windows 8.1

Hello.

My equipment:

Router: EA4500 Cisco

Adapter: Linksys WMP600N

OS: Windows 8.1

The router and adapter supports 5 GHz wireless network.

I used the same settings in Windows 7. Then I upgraded to Windows 8 and my 5 GHz network stops suddenly appear. (I guess it was due to lack of drivers for the adapter). I somehow fixed, and everything was good. (Unfortunately I don't know what I did. I think that I have installed an earlier version of the driver, but I'm not sure.)

Then I tried to format my hard drive and install Windows 8.1, and here I am with the same problem as before: I can't find my 5 GHz network. The 2.4 GHz appears fine, but he says that he has a limited connection. (He was 5 of 5 bars, if and the internet seems to work very well - so I don't know why it is said that).

I've been googling and trying always to make my 5 GHz network appear. (It appears in my smart phone wifi Manager.) But I can't make it work on my computer.

Can someone please help me find the right drivers / help me solve this problem?

Thanks in advance.

I finally got to work. I'll write what I did in case someone else has the same problem.

First of all I should have realized this yesterday, but I was tired and stupid, so I missed the obvious solution:

1. download the http://support.linksys.com/en-eu/support/adapters/WMP600N WMP600N Windows 7 drivers

2. unzip the drivers; an easy place to access (for example the office)

3. open device ('Run' devmgmt.msc) Manager

4. right click on Linksys WMP600N Wireless-N PCI Adapter with Dual-Band and select "Update Driver"

5. choose the bottom option: "choose the computer driver."

6. choose the bottom option: "Let Me pick from a list of drivers on my count.

7. click on the button: 'Have Disk... '. »

8. go to the place where you unpakced drivers (your office)

9 select the correct instructions for your x 64 or x 86 computer

I made the same mistake over and over again; in step 6 I chose the top option (instead of the option at the bottom) and tried to search for it here. -Which was wrong, for some reason any. I guess that Windows has decided that Microsoft drivers version was more up-to-date than the version of Linksys driver and automatically applied their own (instead of working one.)

In any case, happy to finally got running again. =)

  • Invisible - Missing FOLDER - C:\Documents and Settings (not will appear in Explorer) in Windows 7

Re: Invisible - missing FOLDER - C:\Documents and Settings (not will appear in Explorer) in Windows 7

    Hi all

I have a stable working version of Windows 7 Pro.  (Yes sfc/scannow and chkdsk are 100%)  BUT here's my question and the problem...

Recently, all of a sudden - my file C:\Documents and settings folder (and of course all of the many folders and files it contains) is no longer present in the computer of Windows / Explorer.

Yes - I removed the skin system files in folder options (I'm relatively warned these basic commands) and all my other system hidden files appear perfectly.

Moreover, I KNOW that this directory and the files are still there on the drive, and Yes, they are immediately, when I use the command line (back of the old black box window) in administrator mode.

Once again all the folders and files in C:\documents and settings are always there (using the cd and dir/p orders) when you use the editor command line (cmd).

I even tried to change the parameters of security using Icacls and delivered successfully as Administrators security settings: F and system: F but nothing appears in the Explorer.

I also tried to change the command attrib to this directory with my very basic command-line skills.

The computer still works fine - as many of you probably know the C:\documents and settings folder is really an older and former OS directory now used for programs inherited, replaced by C:\Users... etc.

But why have - so MS put in the OS. There are of course good reasons so - I want show back again.

I tried a system restore but I only got one and it can also have been corrupted since it took me a day or two to notice.

In summary, when a directory and files 'all of a sudden disappear completely' use widely and all days 'window of windows Explorer normal 7' you know that something is badly broken in the operating system.

BTW - Yes all Windows 7 updates made and successful... (no easy feat)

Any ideas out there your technical assistants.

    Thanks in advance

They do, but I do not really recommend yet.  But I at least trust him more than any 3rd party.  It is not a download if it is an online as part of the Windows Live Safety Scanner scanner.

And as I went to look for a link, it seems that safety.live.com now re - headed the new scanner, which is a download :)
I don't think that this news has a record cleaning component.  But as I said, is never necessary.  The invalid entries in the registry do slow down your startup time, or cause any problem, unless of course, you get an error message because another program tried to use an entry invalid.  But automated scanners are much too aggressive.  He thinks that an entry is not used, doesn't mean some program, somewhere, some time want.

    Update for July 29:

Last night I had a few Windows updates are available, rather than wait for them to do it automatically, I went ahead and updated manually. After that I restarted my computer, I don't always have the windows 10 application. So, I went to page Windows 10 questions of Microsoft, but this time I found this link:

    https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/3081048

Or possible causes wear on me, so I went the resolutions.

I ran the store and it says Windows is not put on day or something like that. I thought, YES IT IS.

I have version 8.1 of Windows running update.

Resolution 2: I have Windows Update set to automatic. As I said, I had a few available and had already updated by this point. So, I did the command line and he ran as administrator. All three of the orders him to run to 8.1 are back with the packed and the text string.

I restarted my computer and still no app Windows 10. It's not the like 01:15 and I told myself to forget it. Then I remembered that a lot of releases for a lot of things are not held until 02:00 central time for me because it's at midnight, Pacific time. So, I decided to simply shut down my computer and let it until today.

Low and behold, I turn my computer and still no app Windows 10. Randomly, I decided to check to see if iTunes was updated because I had just updated iTunes on my mother's computer. Having said that I have the latest version of iTunes, I closed it. I open HP Support Assistant to see if there were several Windows updates or other notifications. As I do, I see the app Windows 10 APPEAR in the lower right.

I'm just happy that he has appeared because the Microsoft Compatibility test thing said that they did not test my product to see if it was compatible.

Anyway, I don't know if it was the after midnight Pacific Time and combination of the new features of Windows available to me, but that's what happened.

Yes, your CPU or the motherboard doesn't have the ability to run hardware D.E.P., so there is no chance of running the Preview Release of 8-all somehow.

There is the possibility to set the nx or xd bit in the bios and the cpu to support it as well.

  • Could not restore Windows 7 after Windows 8 Preview - TM2 version have restore DVD, always fails.

Hello!  I'm about out of ideas on how to resolve this, so I'll do a summary of what I changed with the machine and then further troubleshooting details on.  The hp touchsmart PC portable individual I is a TM2-1079 cl, product number: WA812UA #ABA.  I got it for the length of 2012, I bought it used another person about 1 year ago now specifically to play with Windows 8, before his release.  Regarding materials real age, I can tell from the warranty information that it was made at the end of 2009, he stated the warranty period was from January 2010 to January 2011.

Okay, so my story with the OS change goes:
-> Bought this TM2 in early 2012, ran the recovery partition to wipe it clean from the previous use of owners and he went perfectly well, then a Windows 7 clean installation as if it were new.  I had also made use of an Acronis True Image 2010 boot disk to a hard disk image of the three than other recovery partitions (although I do not understand the freshly installed windows partition 7, thought it wouldn't matter if the recovery could do it's thing right?)
-> A few days later, I loaded the second of the three Preview versions for Windows 8 above (Customer Preview build I think).   Everything worked well and it doubles starting between the two without problem, as far as I know, the only real made amounted to convert the main partition that Windows 7 was installed on an extended partition and splitting of existing Windows 7 partition everything also 50-50 indoor and extended partition.  She had also replaced the Boot Manager / bootloader which was there before, but once again not surprised.
-> When the build of the Preview version was released over the summer I did an update from inside windows 8 and all seemed well again.  Change between builds two preview has developed a problem where I could not stop windows 8 without a handful of error boxes poping up to the top, but I'm pretty sure that was unrelated.
--> More recently about time thanksgiving, I decided to give the laptop to a family member with an archiac office who has had problems and updated factor of old general who in fact does not.   This person is quite unfavorable for change so that everything "Win8-vs-what people are used" comes into play.   I decided to erase the TM2 clean to the BONE it comes with.    Here's where I'm stuck now:

=> Before doing anything I did a just incase, glad I did another true picture of the HARD drive.
=> I have tried F11 to load the recovery partition to see that, because of the bootloader be tampered with by Windows 8 it is really not to the HP recovery partition more while it is still on the hard drive.
=> Captures the image of hard drive since the beginning of the year with the partition recovery on it until windows 8 hit the machine, cleaned the hard drive completely, restored the disk image.   I could now enter HP recovery fine but...
=> I got a dialogue mistake right off the bat, saying that the recovery partition could not install and insert me CD 1 of recovery of education software.  Well I never did the dvd myself with the single use burning star when it worked so that is out and I did not buy the disks on the HP support site.   At this point I'm stumped, but why the recovery partition cannot install despite the computer load up in recovering very well.  For example, command prompt in the Windows PE environment is functional and all files seem to be present.   Maybe some checks as the recovery partition is not pirated could have been triggered by hard drive imaging, I'm really not sure?
=> I did then used the image of HARD drive, I had just created before trying it and restored the other copy of the reader (bootloader altered Win8, Win8 version preview, win7, the inaccessible and all recovery partition).   Windows 7 and 8 - RP can still start.   Google a bit on the recovery partition key (F11) is dirtied by Windows 8 and came to find that I had to only salvage value as the partition "Active" so he can start.  Sure, I have to start but I'm running into the same issue, where the real recovery partition loads but now refuses to start the process of restoring without HP dvd.  Because I know that for some it worked months ago I guess that once more, because I ended up restoring this version of the recovery partition it may also declared himself tampered with... great.
-Online planned what to do a little and then finally just ordered the DVD from HP in December, I had specifically recovery DVD for my model and they weren't from HP directly, not second hand on ebay or another person.  Wasn't really that bad, $16, very reasonable price.  Should be just, legit OEM DVD to use?  Nope...
=> Came the DVD.  Two main recovery disks and a third for applications and drivers.   Start with disk one and he says is formatting the drive how he wants (good, I love it so far), copy all the content of the three disks on the hard drive and starts his reboot and install cycle.    Restarts a handful of times, you can tell that well after the copy of the content of the any disk and installing windows.  You see the logo Windows 7 boot a few times and even the standard background 'prepare your things' which is similar to the Windows 7 login screen.  The screen becomes certainly as far as the driver proper (and others I guess at that time here) such as changes in native resolution for LCD of the TM2 towards the end.
-Online all of a sudden on the 3rd or 4th (I think) reboot of windows setup begins for a while then said stop, it restarts and it is back in Windows PE installation of recovery again (this time from the hard drive, not the DVD) and says that it has failed to restore and offers to start over from the beginning.

This is where I am stuck.  The recovery Partition died on me post-Windows 8 and the official HP recovery DVD fail to me (and curiously they you apparently miss you in all stages of restoration windows 7, well after the DVD themselves are are most read from).

    > Question 1: is the "self-destruct" HP recovery partition if he gets imaged hard drive imaging software and restored?  I can confirm mine worked fine and then died after after crossing Acronis True Image.  Another possibility is that perhaps there is a certain ID or the tattoo of the hard disk or specific partitions that was lost when Windows 8 put his recent bootloader into the machine or lost of Acronis?  It's always the hdd oem supplied with the computer, it has not been turned out.
    > Question 2: are there known issues with the official recovery of Windows 7 DVD s for an end TM2 2009 1079 cl?  I also know the recovery of Cyberlink software fix / preinstall disc and tried this with results that were not different in without it.  That said, my machine has the version of the recovery software Cyberlink, I read something as software from 3 different companies for recovery depending on the period of time the laptop was manufactured and sold.
    Reference: [ http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&lc=en&softwareitem=pv-80183-1 ]
    > Question 3: clearly asked, what now?  Another thing to try or I have to go find a disc of windows 7 RTM and snatch all the zippers of all pilot?  (Quite hoping to avoid this, I'm actually curious enough to really understand what happened here and that will work he answered nothing.)  hehe).

Perhaps of things this way: some research led me to believe have the WLAN switch off at the beginning of the recovery causes the driver to flip out (and win7 seems indeed dropping dead during the last steps of the installation of the driver) however it is not possible it seems to activate the wireless card 'on' before that point.  Switch do even when active state.   As I have already mentioned the recovery of Cyberlink software patch has no effect on things.   No parts have never been amended in this machine, the original hard drive, the wireless network card, modules, ram ect.   I doubt that the motherboard bios / firmware has never been States machinery, update is revision F.02.

    I have at my disposal:
Much time, in fact, hense why I really want to know what has happened and do not use the disc of Win7 RTM.
    * disk hard recovery HP before addressed Win8 image machine.

    * disk hard recovery image after Win8 and a little bug, but still bootable Win8-RP.
    * The correct recovery DVD for my laptop HP-directed, ordered recently (December 2012).
    * Enough confidence to play with score editing tools would it be a suggestion, never really used much outside of gparted on discs live linux however.  In view of the current state of the machine there is nothing to lose much more than to risk.

Sorry for the wall of text!  I love being very detailed!

I actually had, pretty much on a whim of 'eh, might as well try it' too!

So I told him earlier that it seemed obvious that most of the recovery completed well, something just kept arye until reset all cycles of the overall configuration process.   Seemed as if drivers were causing a problem because the display driver had obviously just finished installing a few moments before the final restart dead-end.  There was a lot of forum discussions there on different models of HP laptops, who need the wireless card to be placed in 'market' or restore might fail completely, I tried but the TM2 does not really allow you to change the WLAN State of 'off' when the operating system has already recognized (as in bios menus and windows install ", it stays just off even if you hit the switch).

I decided to try pulling the mini-pcie card out of the machine completely and from configuration on and... It worked!  I had throughout a fresh Windows 7 and he even recreated my recovery partition correctly!

Check in the C:\SwSetup\ directory after the installation was made, I found all the other drivers and a folder called 'WLAN', which was empty.   I guess that means if recovery is not material, then they choose even not copy the data to a certain device driver.   Because it was not present, everything that's wrong with installing drivers during recovery wireless cards never crashed the recovery all!

I wonder if there isn't something wrong with the wireless card in my TM2 in all honesty.  I had a problem with it along since I got a year ago in this radius of reception was terrible and if I went that areas of the room of the wifi point he was likely to win.   Having said that it worked then I ignored it before.   Maybe the card is gone belly up and install recovery is not just installation to recognize errors in nonlethal pilot since the WIFI network?  He would fit with other peoples problems when WLAN is turned off as well at least.

    ---

As a separate note, since the new year I've updated my personal machine (a HP DV6T) for one SSD and (without erasing my old HDD), I decided to try acronis imagery on this cover of machines and other partitions under Windows 7 itself for the SSD.   Of course, the same question appeared, recovery would not launch without the DVD.   Apparently Acronis True Image just cannot successfully restore HP to an image of partition recovery.   I don't pretend to know why but while the real partiton returns through restoration and environmental WinPE is running the effective recovery certainly does not aftering through an image .tib in the case of two separate HP machines.

    ---

(For googlers who think so), these are two of the three questions, which I came across while doing this resolved and everything that I'm going to worry.

    > Windows 8 Preview mess with bootloaders, breaks recovery, I didn't figure out how to restore it.
    > Do not rely on an image of hard disk from the recovery partition, even if you can restore the partition and it opens to black recovery menu window it can still fail and ask the recovery dvd.  The recovery partition disk imaging is risky!

    > If your HP recovery (partition or dvd, or another) dies near the end of all this and turning on/off WLAN is not helping, try ripping off the mini-pcie for the restore time card and then reinsert once you return to an operating system clean, everything worked for me!  For reference, I don't know what model of wlan card that is exactly, but it's a Broadcom 802.11n adapter (HP alternative number? Not sure) SPS: 593837-001.  The driver will not be C:\SwSetup\ after the installation as the dvd won't copy out but plug in ethernet, windows update finds it easy.

    Hello

Please ALL these even if you've done it before as it's often the total process that
solves the problem. You should also check with the system manufacturer as some readers do not use windows
by default the drivers and need their own, use the bottom and if no joy check on the site of the manufacturer of the system.

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
    the parameters.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Hardware Profiles\0001\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

You can probably find more info here and maybe even the exact registry for your CD/DVD settings
drive from someone with the same model.

Use DevManView to locate the CD/DVD in the registry (be careful and do a prior Restore Point)
nothing change) - find the DevManView device and then make a right click on it free in RegEdit.

DevManView - free - an alternative to the standard Windows Device Manager, which displays all the
devices and their properties in flat table, instead of the tree viewer

    I hope this helps.

  • HP envy 17 can not boot windows or using recovery DVDs after the replacement of the motherboard

Hi all, I need your help

first of all sorry for my English but I'm from Greece. I really don't know a lot about the mobile only very basic computer.

I have a hp envy 17 3d 2080en with windows 7 Home premium which, after overheating, chips to the motherboard. I ordered and installed a used motherboard from China (part 630793-001 hp number).

After that I tried to start the laptop, but when he opens he said probably due to the change of the material he cannot start windows normally. After reading a lot on the internet, that I tried using the recovery DVDs I had prepared before the problem, but they will not start just yet. Then, I tried to use the cd system repair but again no luck.

I looked in the bios as some people say on the internet and realized that the product number and serial number are different from those of my laptop and it's maybe part of the problem, but I don't know. I looked in other posts about similar problems, but did not get a definitive answer and this is why I post for your help.

    Thanks to you all

    Nikos

IF YOU HAVE AN HP LAPTOP (MINE IS HP ENVY 3D 2080EN) THAT YOU HAVE CHANGED THE MOTHERBOARD WITH ANOTER ONE (MINE WAS FRIED OVERHEATING) AND AFTER REPLACING YOUR LAPTOP DOES NOT START AND YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH SYSTEM REPAIR DISC OR DOES NOT PERFORM A CLEAN WINDOWS INSTALL OR DON'T LISTEN NOT A RECOVERY CD/DVD RECOVERY THEN EXPERTS HP WHO KNOW NOTHING. LOOK IN YOUR BIOS, AND IF YOU SEE THE PRODUCT NUMBER OR SERIAL NUMBER DIFFERENT THAN THOSE APPEARING ON YOUR COMPUTER (USUALLY IN THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT) THEN GO TO A HP SERVICE ALLOWED AND TELL THEM TO HAVE YOYR TATTOOED BIOS. WITH THE TATOO (COST US $ 40), THEY WILL REPLACE THE NUMBER OF BAD PRODUCT AND/OR THE SERIAL NUMBER WITH YOUR MOBILE PHONE NUMBERS AND YOUR PROBLEM IS SOLVED. MY MOTHERBOARD HAS BEEN FRIED TO OVERHEAT AND I BOUGHT A USED ONE FROM CHINA. AFTER I REPLACED IT THE LAPTOP WOULDN'T START AND WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO REPAIR DVD HE OR EVEN THE USE OF RECOVERY. I CALLED HP SUPPORT, I EVEN JOINED THE HP FORUM TO ASK FOR HELP AND I GOT ONE EXPERT WAS USUALLY TRY THIS OR TRY THIS. DON'T LISTEN TO THEM. FINALLY, I READ AN ARTICLE FROM THE INTERNET THAT EXPLAINED THAT WHEN YOU CHANG THE MOTHERBOARD / SYSTEM BY ANOTHER THEN THE BIOS REFERS TO THE NEW PRODUCT NUMBER, MOTHERBOARDS AND/OR THE SERIAL NUMBER AND THIS WAY THERE IS INCOMPATIBILITY WHICH DOES NOT ALLOW WINDOWS TO START, YOU CAN NOT REPAIR WITH SYSTEM REPAIR DISC OR IT DOES NOT PERFORM A CLEAN WINDOWS INSTALLATION OR A RECOVERY CD/DVD RECOVERY. ONCE YOU TATOO THE BIOS THATS IT. THE LAPTOP WORKS. I HOPE THAT THIS MESSAGE WILL HELP SOME PEOPLE WAISTING THERE TIME AND SPEND THE MONEY FOR NOTHING
