64-bit applications do not convert to VMware Server Console of ESX3i
Hello
Because of performance problems, we try to convert a machine Console VMware Server 1.0.4 for VMware ESX Server 3i, using VMware converter standalone client 4.0.1 vcentre but it is a failure with the answer "the destination can't stand not 64-bit clients.
We believe that ESX3i supports 64-bit machines - there is an option to create one, if we were to start from scratch.
We also tried to import directly via the "Import a virtual appliance" option on the 3i server itself, but he expects a file ovf rather than an egg file, and so we get an exception "system out of memory.
Can anyone recommend the best method of conversion of a 64-bit computer?
Thank you
Paul
Welcome to the Forums - Yes ESXi support 64-bit VMS but you needs to ensure that material that esxi installed supports 64-bit by confimrining in the server BIOS ESXi VT i and s 64-bit enabled

Application does not connect to the server using WAP2.0
Hello
I used following code to get the suffix of the url that is required to connect to the application server using WAP2.0
if(CoverageInfo.isCoverageSufficient(CoverageInfo.COVERAGE_DIRECT)) { //WAP 2.0 String uid = null; ServiceBook sb = ServiceBook.getSB(); ServiceRecord[] records = sb.findRecordsByCid("WPTCP"); for (int i = 0; i < records.length; i++) { if (records[i].isValid() && !records[i].isDisabled()) { if (records[i].getUid() != null && records[i].getUid().length() != 0) { if ((records[i].getCid().toLowerCase().indexOf("wptcp") != -1) && (records[i].getUid().toLowerCase().indexOf("wifi") == -1) && (records[i].getUid().toLowerCase().indexOf("mms") == -1) ) { uid = records[i].getUid(); break; } } } } if(uid!=null) { if(AppConfigurations.DEBUG) System.out.println("Connected using direct WAP2.0...."); return ";ConnectionUID="+uid; } }
I am same ConnectionUID as present in this complete book in Options in the device.
Even application does not connect to the server using WAP2.0.
Let me know what other things should I check to make application to connect to the server using WAP2.0.
My phone is BB 8900 and OS 4.6.1
WAP connection will pass through the gateway of the carrier. This gateway can oppose your respect, or might be trying to optimize the data, or can display a login page for you. Try the same URL that you use in your program, directly with the WAP browser on the device and see if that runs through effectively.

Hello
When I open a (Windows 2003 32-bit) VMware Server console I get the attached black console.
When I make RDP to this server also I get the same console. I changed the display of color options, and even in this case, I get the same screen.
This virtual server is hosted on ESX 3.5i and I migrated to anotehr ESX host, but the problem remains the same.
No idea how to solve this problem?
See the blog below. We have came across this the other day because a customer's lack of space on the C: drive. However, change registry entries remotely did not work. I think somehow, by pressing a key combination when you use the VMware Console and a user who had never logged, we got the loading screen. I think it is
or . But whatever it is, you have to check the registry database for colors. http://communities.VMware.com/blogs/PlanetVM/2008/12/01/the-black-screen-of-death

Arrow in VMware Server Console 1.08 - problem keys Linux 1.09
Hello
After an upgrade sometimes ago, I found a strange behaviour on VMware Server Console 1.0.8. I tested VMware Server Console 1.0.9 and it behaves the same way.
The problem is: arrows do not function correctly, and the 'Alt Gr' key does not work as expected (by pressing "Alt Gr" + a key provides as it is pressed without "Alt Gr". Sometimes "Alt Gr" beahaves like 'Enter')
The behavior is always reproducible on all tested computers with VMware Server Console 1.08 - 1.09 on Linux and all tested clients.
Platform customer information:
VMware Server Console 1.0.8 build-126538 and 1.0.9 build-156507, openSUSE 11.1, Linux 2.6.27.23 - 0.1 - #1 SMP, KDE3 and KDE4 default
Server:
VMware-server - 1.0.6 - 91891, openSUSE 11.0, Linux 2.6.25.20 - 0.1 - pae #1 SMP
Guests:
Windows XP SP2, Windows Server 2003, Linux OpenSuSE 11.0 & 11.1
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
The problem is on the server. On the host that edit you/etc/vmware/config
I had the same problem with a linux host. Here, you will need to edit this file and Add following lines in/etc/vmware/config
xkeymap.keycode.108 = 312 # Alt_R
xkeymap.keycode.106 = 309 # KP_Divide
xkeymap.keycode.104 = 284 # KP_Enter
xkeymap.keycode.111 = # 328 Up
xkeymap.keycode.116 = # 336 down
xkeymap.keycode.113 = # 331 left
xkeymap.keycode.114 = # 333 right
xkeymap.keycode.105 = 285 # Control_R
xkeymap.keycode.118 = # 338 Insert
xkeymap.keycode.119 = # 339 Delete
xkeymap.keycode.110 = # 327 home
xkeymap.keycode.115 = 335 # end
xkeymap.keycode.112 = # 329 front
xkeymap.keycode.117 = # 337 then
xkeymap.keycode.78 = 70 # Scroll_Lock
xkeymap.keycode.127 = 256 # break
347 = xkeymap.keycode.133 # Meta_L
xkeymap.keycode.134 = # 348 Meta_R
xkeymap.keycode.135 = 349 # Menu
.. then all the keys will function correctly on the comments.
Look at my blog: http://johannwein.wordpress.com/
PS: in my case - I on localhost - server - and client...
Another thing is: given that the upgrade from Ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10 - VMware Server Console 1.09 does not set up. You have a lot of mistakes by vmware - config.pl
But it's another question good luck!

Convert new Vmware server for VMware vSphere Hypervisor 3.5
Hello
Can someone tell me how to convert a more recent VMware Server to make it work with an older VMware vSphere Hypervisor 3.5?
I just installed this version on an old IBM xseries 346, but I can't turn on the virtual machine. When you check the log it is said that the version is not compatible.
Can you also tell me how to get rid of the warning of a 60-day trial. This version should be free?
Thanks in advance
You must go to the directory of the virtual machine before you can issue the vmkfstools command.
CD/vmfs/volumes/datastore1/MSTS01

can not connect to vmware server 2, just installed on vista
so I just install VMware server 2 on professional vista, and I can't connect.
the installation goes very well, no errors, and I reinstalled twice now and still no success at connect.
I click on Vmware server home page, it does appear in firefox, I use my login and my password that I use to connect on my computer and I just get:
"The login failed due to a bad username or password".
help, please, thank you.
Hello
Try activation of your administrator account and setting a password for it. Then use these credentials to connect. Once connected, you can set other local accounts to use. You can then disable the administrator account.
Try the above, I didn't have to do is when I installed Windows 7, but I remember having to do so in the past on vista.

Generate url for virtual machine installed on vmware server console programmatically
Hello
I want to generate URLs for machine vmware console located on vmware server. Are there examples of available in c# code? Any help will be really good.
Thank you.
Hello
There are already several posts/Articles on this subject. What works for ESX should work for VMware Server. The misfortune is that it should be avoided for several reasons:
(1) there are only a limited number of "consoles" allowed for a given server of VMware
(2) RDP/VNC is a tool much better for this as there are no such limits
(3) the security of this method is somewhat limited
(4) more than one user can access the same VM without protection of the user (essentially a struggle for control)
So in general, it is best to RDP/VNC in the virtual machine is to use the console.

64-bit Linux does not work on VMware Workstation 8
I'm running an installation entirely under license of VMware Workstation 8.0.2. This forum works on a Lenovo Thinkpad T420 with 8 GB of RAM and a 160 GB SSD, so what matters. The T420 has an Intel Core i7 2.8 GHz processor. It's running Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 for 64-bit.
When I try to create a virtual machine on this machine to run RHEL 5 in 64-bit mode, I get the following error when trying to turn on the virtual machine:
When I click on the link on VMware.com, I get a utility to check the CPU on my machine. When I run this utility, it shows that my CPU is fine for the performance of the VMS 64-bit. Go figure.
Also, I rebooted and explored the BIOS. Didn't see anything obvious here to turn on to enable this.
Bottom line: I need to create a VM Linux 64-bit on this puppy, and he won't. Any ideas anyone?
Welcome to the community,
Please check the settings of the BIOS again. I'm not familiar with Lenovo systems, but "virtualization technology (VT - x)" as well as "No. Execute Disable" settings are generally in the part of the security of the configuration of the BIOS. Two of them must be enabled. After you change the any of these settings, you will need to equip completely from the cycle of the system (a simple reboot may not be enough).
If you can't find the settings, please report (attach) the latest vmware.log file of the virtual machine file to see what VMware Workstation detects.

pilots are not really a lot to do with it, due to its operation. Just make sure that all engines of unloading are disabled, that's about it. We have a bunch of 2K 3 x 64 hosts with 32-bit guests and it is no problem.

Can standby database configured on VMWare Server or not?
Hi all
Is it possible that our main server is not on the vmware server, but standby server can be configured on the server of VMWare?
As far as I know, configuration of both server should be same.
If our main server is not on the Vmware server but waiting for database configured on Vmware server, going to work or not.
Pls suggest me...
And another thing is that is it necessary to have a dedicated connection b/w primary and standby server for RFS process.
pls suggest me...Hi again!
That's right for your main server, but if you need to pass / failover to the standby DB on VM-Ware could you have performance problems.

VMware Server Version 2.0.2 - migrate VM to ESXi 5.5?
Hey guys
I use an old Dell T410 with VMware Server Version 2.0.2 (Build 203138) server running on top of serving 2008R1.
I'm looking to install a new server and you want to run ESXi 5.5.
Is it possible to convert VM VMware Server Version 2.0.2 (Build 203138) to ESXi 5.5?
Otherwise I'm running Shadowprotect. If I can't convert, is it possible to do a HIR to ESXi 5.5 from an image of a VM from VMware Server Version 2.0.2 (Build 203138) Shadowprotect?
Finally, I was looking for to run ESXi 5.5 Essentials (not more) on the new physical host and then use the old host as a temporary backup with ESXi 5.5 too. I have to buy 2 x 5.5 ESXi licenses to run it on both machines?
If you want more specifications about the network made me know.
Kind regards
Aaron
Hello
You must convert the virtual server computers to be able to run on ESXi 5.5.
Take a look at this, it is perhaps useful:
How to migrate computers virtual vmware server to vSphere, ESXi
On the essential, it allows to manage 3 servers (servers esxi) with up to 2 processors of each:
Editions of vSphere, vSphere is? Leading Virtual Infrastructure | United States
But, with just the basics, you will be things like HA.
