7-zip to open office documents

Dear VM-community

I fell on the exactly the same problem as stated on this thread: http://communities.vmware.com/message/1654350

The only thing that has changed is the software. This time, it is 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.org/) instead of Firefox. But the environment remained the same, as well as the error message. The measures suggested in the other thread is not helped here too.

There is really no fix for this annoying problem?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Best regards

Stephan Shepherd

I was able to reproduce the error you had with FireFox (opening a *.docx). If I choose 'Open' a short repair of MSI is triggered and I get the suggestion to try to download the file you first.

I corrected this bij add the following 3 lines to the Firefox package.ini:

VirtualizeExternalOutOfProcessCOM = 0
ChildProcessEnvironmentDefault = virtual
ChildProcessEnvironmentExceptions = winword.exe

(I noticed in the other line of appeal 2 and 3 have already been mentioned, but line 1 was not)

  • Windows Mail won't open Office documents

    I'm looking through the various fixes for it but none works for me, the main reason being that I can not save the file.  When I try and open an Excel file from Windows Mail, nothing happens.  I right click to save money, but save it under the bar says type "attachment (*.)" *)"and no .xls.  I click on save and get the message "the command cannot be run."  It also doesn't let me print.

    I downloaded the open Office Word and tried to print a letter.  The computer on which I typed has no access to a printer, if I put the infro on a USB key, took to work and plugged into the desktop computer so I could print there.  I kept getting error messages that Windows could not recognize the program and that he could not open it.  When I tried to use internet to get the file for Windows extension to open it I only got was Web sites who asked me to pay for all these programs or to open the office and download the entire program on the desktop computer.  That wasn't going to happen.  Is it possible to find an easy to recognize answer open office on windows, so I can download the letters and print them?

    Install Open Office on the computer that you want to read/print the file.

    Or ask Open Office Forums here, because it is NOT a Vista problem: http://www.oooforum.org/

  • Satellite Pro U200: MS Office Documents open slowly after installing BT stack

    Hello

    As I installed the toshiba bluetooth stack (on my Satellite Pro U200) last week, MS Office documents are very slow to open when I choose them by double-clicking from windows Explorer. If I first start Office then use "Open" to open the document, the document opens very quickly.

    The problem disappears as soon as I uninstall the Bluetooth stack.

    This issue is documented on the nokia.com website and can apparently be solved using the instead microsoft bluetooth stack.

    However, I don't seem to be able to install this driver on my laptop.

    Is there a solution from Toshiba?

    See you soon,.

    Why does take so long to open a document in microsoft office, imaging files. All my scans appear in a .tiff file. I open the .tiff file and it takes about 30 seconds, at the same time, everything freezes and I have to remove the mouse from the usb port wireless. I'm currently running vista

    Hello

    I hope that by "striking" means you actually "Uninstall", as simply delete the files/folders of programs can cause all sorts of issues. Maybe, there is something in the software which has been deleted these files supported? • Indexing options and search for Windows 7 are not locate content of the document since "update" Open Office 3.3 3.4 (he worked for 2 years before that)?

    I have Win 7 with Service Pack 1. I have "updated my Open Office 3.3 to 3.4 and now Win 7 search and options DO NOT locate my document content indexing more? I contacted the support of Open Office: http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=55483

    They claim that: "indexing and search in Windows 7 are performed by Windows 7", so there is a problem with Win 7 search and indexing options.

    I checked the indexing options in Windows 7 and the "Index Properties and content of the file" is selected for ALL the 'odt' as well as all the files 'o'.

    I set up a test document: I put only one word "Wednesday" in the Open Office text document, saved and it called "text". I am looking for Wednesday and the search comes up with two other documents containing the word Wednesday in them, but not the Test document?

    I just discovered something. When I did the 'Test' experience above, the file was saved in format 'odt' a:. I changed it to a ".doc" file and it now appears in the search results. As mentioned above, I've changed ALL the files starting with the letter 'o' in Indexing Options > Advanced Options > Types of files to the article: 'properties Index and contents of the file. The description of filter for files 'odt' comes back as: "IFilter shop OpenOffice IFilter" where as 'doc' filter is listed as a: «Filter Microsoft Office» Is it a "Boutique OpenOffice IFilter IFilter: issue" Blocking "the documents appear in the search results? If so, how should I do (I mean in addition to all the documents 'odt' replacing 'doc'?

    Just to clarify: document names 'odt' come to a search, but not the content document.

    Capitan preview to open any MS Office document and makes similar mistakes with other types of documents and records. Right-clicking does NOT have the correct application as a possibility. To fix it is a laborious process to right click, and then find the correct application of a long list, then use 'get info' to set the correct application of all documents of this type. In this case, chromium (which I'm forced to use it because it is the only browser with language translation capabilities adequate) hangs my computer on a regular basis, and whenever I restart I am back to the same problem with OS not knowing how to open a file. It is a very basic function of BONES, to recognize that .docx must be opened with Word.

    Select a file that as this "problem."

    CTRL + click and select Getinfo.

    in the "open with:" section, mount the correct application and below, click on the button "change everything".

  • Prevent the HP ePrint to open a document

    I have a HP Slate 7 with HP ePrint preinstalled (version 2.2.1).

    In many situations where I want to open an Office document or a Pdf file (download, SkyDrive) ePrint application intercepts the request and offers to print the document. This is not what I want.

    I have no printer configured in ePrint and I need to print all the documents at this time.

    Is there a setting to change this behavior?

    Thank you

    Sytze

    Hello Sytze, welcome to the HP support community!

    You have applications installed on the device which can read MS Office and PDF files?

    If not, it's why ePrint is commissioning of the call.  There are many applications available for download in the store play for the visualization of these two types of files.

  • Access reading / writing in Open Office

    I used Open Office on my iMac for years. I thought I had better put a password on a particular document, it worked OK, but now I can't change doc. I checked the file (and the documents folder) permissions and they are set to read - write to all. I can edit the document in pages but who insists on the fact that I have to rewrite it as a type. pages rather than .doc? I have run OS 10.10.5 Yosemite

    Pages makes no such requirements, choose export and select a format. You can choose the word if that's what you need.
