8, 1-Firmware Windows problem

I have a recently HP Compaq CQ58-201SA with whom I made the stupid mistake of letting windows store to go ahead and install the 8.1 update.

Everything seems very well went with two obvious questions.

(1) edge LAN 'Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller' ('NO' the wireless) will not work.

While windows has installed the correct drivers for this hardware is unable to entrust resources system (IO, DMA, IRQ address) and it has thus been disabled with a message stating that I need to contact my provider of material for one and put to update the BIOS or Firmware.

Windows provides the following message in the Device Manager window.

"Your computer Firmware includes enough information to properly configure and use this device. To use this device contact the manufacturer to obtain a firmware or an update of the BIOS of your computer. (Code 35) »

Further investigation reveals the following message is displayed in the window Device Manager for the device in question, on the Details tab on the following two entries.

Property: Code problem

Value: 00000023

: Fortune problem

Value: The resources for this device in conflict with the MCFG table.

C0000908

(2) life battary has fallen dramatically. While front with windows 8 I would observe periods of use of about 2.5 to 3.5 hours, now I see use of 0.5 to 1.5. It can be connected with an increase in the activity of the hard drive that I have been unable to locate the cause.

Two days after the installation of update that I made the decision to go back to windows 8. Kind of safe that I started with the restoration rather than reinstall that gives all the indications to complete successfully with one exception, I now see the table following partitioning for the laptop.

(no name) 400 MB Partition Recovery

(no name) 260 MB EFI System Partition

(no name) 350 MB Partition Recovery

(C: ) Start, primary page file, crash dump, 447,16 GB Partition

(RECOVERY D :))) OEM Partition 17.49 GB

(RECOVERY D :))) OEM Partition 17.49 GB

A UN extra named recovery partition appeared which I guess is something to do with windows 8.1. Two dashes for D: were present in the previous version of windows.

My questions are this.

(1) can I safely delete one of these two recovery partitions (if so which) or would it be better to leave them alone for now?

(2) a firmware update will materialize in the near future to solve this problem on this machine line/model to make an update to windows 8.1 a viable option?

(3) there will be a form any of the investigation into the claims of life such battary presented by the meter of the BONE

(4) HP intend to produce a form a white paper dealing with issues and solutions for windows 8.1 update in the near future?

Thank you for you time and I hope someone can address these issues and provide answers.

The proposed pilots did not work, they produced only the same errors as above.

The solution was to simply wait for the F.29 BIOS updated for this model.

  • Missing programs, perhaps a Windows problem

I was working on my computer very well, I've been on the internet for hours without problem (no antivirus warning and I wasn't downloading anything, only normal pages), and I have existing, up-to-date antivirus.

Well, the problem is that most of my installed programs have just "party" and some standard Windows programs are gone too. Programs, I had on my system for years and have used several times without problem simply disappeared as well as programs such as calculator and paint. Well, they are the programs that I realized that I have lost so far. To give you an idea, go to start, programs, and usually 1 columns 3/4 programs are displayed, it is now maybe 2/3 of a column. When you go into program files, there is nothing in the missing programs, it seems that they have been uninstalled.

I have done a complete analysis of the system through Norton Antivirus and came up with nothing. I restarted and then a box come to say a word about "Windows is unable to complete the program installation..." something in this direction, and nothing has come on my desktop except for the desktop, My Documents and trash. I did a restore of the system at the point of older, two weeks ago, and it came up saying: "we cannot complete the system restore, no change has been made."  Arghh!

I'm computer literate and worked a bit in the it helpdesk and I have absolutely no idea. I think since this is a Windows problem that we may have to clean this completely and started from scratch with new windows. I you gave as the screenshots I can, to maybe give you an idea of what is happening. Note on the last note of screenshot that there are a few things has highlighted. I did not do that, then maybe it's the question? This is the "InstallShield Installation information", "Uninstall information", and "windows update". Also, I am happy to install Real VNC if that helps diagnose the problem. Can you please guide me the case, before you go to all this effort?

    Thanks in advance.

iPod touch is recognized as a problem digital camera.the says it's a windows problem...

    Hi cuteshey,

Welcome on the site of Microsoft Windows Vista Community.

    Solution 1: Update the drivers

    (1) the Device Manager open, either by right clicking on computer and then click on manage, and finally on Device Manager, or by typing devmgmt.msc in the box then find (or run) on the bottom of the start menu and press ENTER.

    (2) find the ipod, he (should) be listed under digital cameras, right click it and choose "update driver software".

    (4) for the location (you must have already installed itunes) use C:\Program Files\Common Apple Mobile Device Support\Drivers (replace C: for what is the letter of your system drive), and then click Next, windows will find the driver here and continue to update the driver
    (5) after the update is complete, click Finish to close the dialog box, then disconnect the ipod and plug it in again.

Solution 2: This seems to be a known issue with the iPhone and iPod touch from Apple, I would suggest also allows you to check the link that contains the iPhone and iPod touch: Disabling digital camera notification in Windows Vista

Let me know if that does or does not work. Good luck!

    Hope it will be useful.

  • Windows Installer + VSS + Windows problems in Windows 7 SP1 Activation

I used this Windows 7 machine for 5 years now and has recently encountered several problems, which probably are closely linked:

    1. Windows installation problem
Can't update programs, although new install if they do need Windows Installer to do. Most but not all Windows not updates install.

    2. the problem of volume shadow copy Service

Failed to create system restore points. With VSS errors appear when I try to do. No previous restore point is available.

    3. Activation of Windows problem
A pop up keeps appearing every 1 or 2 hours, saying that my computer is not running genuine Windows. Obviously nonsense since this PC was bought during the original Service Pack 1 of Windows 7 and I've never had a problem before.

I searched a lot online to solve all these problems. I tried hundreds of possible solutions, but nothing has worked. I think that it is all caused by the same thing, but I am unable to find it.

Ready to provide more information. Thanks in advance.

(PS: my camera has a pre installed Windows 7 so I own not a Windows DVD, don't want to reinstall the OS, prefer to try to find the cause of the mess)

Do you have same problems if you create a new user account?

    What Antivirus utility you installed?

Have you installed a new hardware or software or both since you started these problems?

Could you describe some of the thing things you've tried?

Start by checking your hard disk for errors:

    Click Start

Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD

    Click on "Run as Administrator"

At the command prompt, type: chkdsk /f /r

When you restart your system, your computer will be scanned for errors and will try to correct them.

    then

    Click Start
Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
    Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: sfc/scannow

This will check for any breach of integrity

    Restart your system

You can also try to perform a repair upgrade to see if it works. You need to download a copy of the edition of so that your system is under license:

  • Not authentic "Windows" problem

Story: My Dell Inspiron laptop has been running Windows Vista when initially purchased in 2009.   Dell has provided a free upgrade to Windows 7, and this upgrade went well several years ago.  Thus, the machine has been works well on Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 for awhile.
Don't know if this is important: a couple of months, I replaced the hard drive.   I did a backup/restore image for the operating system on the new drive.   I don't think that I was invited to return keys validation of Windows at this time here.   I had no problem and the machine worked well after the replacement of the hard disk.
Now, all of a sudden I get a pop up window that says "this computer is not running genuine Windows.
    However, my Windows is genuine!
I tried to solve the problem by installing the WindowsActivationUpdate.exe, but will not install.   I get the error message "update installation failed.   Information about the error - 0xC8000247
I tried to get the Windows product key (from the sticker on the bottom of the laptop) via Control Panel/system/change the product key but it says invalid key!
Something is clogged to the top, but I don't know what.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Thank you for your response.    I tried several related suggestions and more did not help.   That seems to have solved my problem of Windows Update is reinstalling the technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver as suggested by george1009 in your third link above.

As for my Activation of Windows problem, I typed in the wrong product key.  I entered the key on the sticker on the computer, but it is valid only for Windows Vista (original OS), but not for Windows 7 (current operating system).  I found that my Windows 7 upgrade disk envelope and who had the key valid on it.

  • Explore Microsoft windows problem

Most of the time I use my computer, so im on the internet or do anything, the taskbar suddenly stops working.  Volume stops working, I can not open anything I've minimized in the taskbar. virtually the entire taskbar stops working.  However, I have no problem putting online or using the desktop computer, I am able to do everything except using the taskbar.

When this happens I usually just keep clicking the taskbar frozen to see if something pops up that can help me and a pop of small windows saying "Microsoft Windows Explorer has stopped working" and then it gives me 3 options:

    (1) close the program and restart windows Explorer

    (2) close the program

    (3) wait for the program to respond

What can I do to fix this? Any help will be appreciated

It seems that explorer.exe does not respond because it is waiting for svchost.exe:AudioClientRpc.  What I've read, the most likely problem is a problem with your audio drivers, software or firmware.  I don't know why it affects the taskbar, but you're not the first person to have this problem.

Do you know when this problem started?  Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started.  Here is the procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/.  Don't forget to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points.  If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two.  NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates.  If you can get in front of the problem, it is perhaps the easiest way to solve the problem.

If this does not work, go to Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears.  Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white?  These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else).  Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips.  If you need to get the drivers, software or firmware (and you should be for all of your audio devices), get the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device (NOT of Microsoft Updates).  Be sure to get the right ones for your specific device and your specific version of Vista.  In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/. (I suggest you do that now while you think about it so you don't forget to do it later - it can make you save a lot of headaches down the road). Follow these steps to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm.  Once you have the drivers, you can install them via the Manager device as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html.

I hope this helps.  Please post back and let us know what is happening in all cases.

    Good luck!

  • Photosmart pro B9180 firmware update problem

    Hello

I have a problem to update the firmware on my HP photosmart pro B9180.

The firmware on it is very old, 20070426.

    I m running on a Mac, OS X 10.9

When I tried to start updating the firmware with the firmware update it got stuck after pressing 'continue' on the license agreement page. Through various positions, I found that I had to install the version 10.5 of the HP driver software to work around this problem. I ve done this and of course, he started the next step, "detect devices. The result is that he finds no demanding devices updated firmware that I find hard to believe since it s of 2007. The printer is on the network and I can normally access.

I now have it connected via USB to try another approach. The result is that the phase of "sensors" the update of the firmware ends unexpectedly leaving me with the ability to report it to apple or reopen the update of the firmware.

I ve also tried to use HP Device Manager to check the software updates. This property returns "server is not available. "Please try again later".  Tried for the last two days, but the results are the same.

Any help or pointers is appreciated. If need more information please ask

    Hi @Rohdekill

May I ask why you try to get an update of the firmware? I know you said feel you yours is outdated, but I want to say are you a program that allows you to search for an firmware update pushed?

From what I see, there is no updated firmware for this printer. There are updates driver for Mac and the Windows operating system, but no update firmware.

If you have a problem, I'd be happy to help you.

  • I had to reinstall Windows - problems accessing the profile of old or existing to show all emails, I had

I had to reinstall windows. I have several drives in my computer and I copied the entire C: drive to another drive in the PC. I thought when I reinstalled Thunderbird, I could just point to profile located on the other drive... email accounts but it doesn't work.

I had multiple accounts configured in Thunderbird - accounts about 6, but just one profile. I had several records created for organizing email locally. So, I guess that he should be a both local and roaming profile with the same name? I checked my mail server web interface and there are currently approximately 105 emails on this subject. I know there are at least 500 total emails into the inboxes of Thunderbird. I try to restore those old e-mails, as well as local folders - but am not having any luck.

Anyway, with all the attempts that I did to get all the emails of my return, I think that Thunderbird has created new folders and is doing really complicated now. I don't know how to sort this out. I don't know the name of the profile that I have used before, and when I search my computer on the name of the profile, it is 22 000 + items. I'm still not able to get them all restored in Thunderbird.

Another strange thing is: in the search results for the name of the profile, the items are displayed in the results, and it has an icon Thunderbird next to them and says it's a Document of Thunderbird... but when I double-click on one of them, it will not open in Thunderbird. Nothing happens when I double-click on them. Could this be a problem/conflict version of Thunderbird? I thought my old Thunderbird was updated.

I don't know where to start to give you a hint how to help. I'm sorry.

    Any ideas?

  • Update iTunes 10 Windows problem and Solution

I have a solution that worked for me, when Apple's CEO did not all trying to update iTunes 10 Windows.  I do not claim that their solution was bad, just that it has not resolved the problem for me, but lead me to the solution that did.

The problem I had was that during the update, I would like to get the package of Windows error message that wouldn't let him proceed in process.  "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package.  A program required for this install to complete could not be run.  Contact your supplier of staff or the package of support ".

THE SOLUTION: click on the Windows icon and go to settings > system > applications and features.  Click on Apple software update > change > change > repair

Once the repair has been completed, I was able to install iTunes without any problems.

How I found this solution: I tried the recommendation to Apple for this message exact error uninstall and reinstall iTunes, who had the same error message.  The next step was to uninstall QuickTime and iTunes, then the Apple Software Update.  At this point, the Apple software update wouldn't uninstall and generated the same error of Windows package as described above.  I fixed Apple Software Update and rather than proceed with the rest of the facilities, I advanced and installed iTunes.  He worked like a champ and he saved me a bunch of times.

    Thanks Airshipguy. It really worked.

I have not tried all the recommendations of Apple support, being out of pocket for the time and also the uncertainty of losing the settings. Before you read this post, I tried to repair only iTunes. After reading the post above, I fixed all facilities Apple in a sequence such that the last of them was that of "Apple Software Update". I made this sequence intuitively and have no scientific reason.

For those who need to be more aware of 10 Windows, right click the windows button, select "Programs and features" and then search for Apple. As indicated in the post above, it's the "Apple Software Update" that did the trick.

My response was to reassure people that it works. Often, a single post does not give that confidence to give it a go!
