Friend upgrade XP to windows 7. not authentic Windows message receipt. Buy Windows 7 and downloaded to "fix the problem". Computer crashed, but I got a new drive. Should I try install
Hello
So the Windows 7 machine is fine, but its also empty! That we can help you. The XP machine is another matter. If you want to upgrade these machines to Windows 7, and the minimum hardware requirement is met, you can buy discs of software of Windows 7 operating system for each machine (1 motherboard = 1 license for purchased software).
In addition, I highly recommend you reformat two machines for them to XP RID completely, not to mention viruses / malware. If you plan to update the two XP machines with own versions of XP, that's fine, but this isn't the forum for this, the Windows XP forum would be the place, go here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp?tab=QnA .
Thus, the machine to Windows 7. To take no chances. Allows to run several scans on the new machine. You said "didn't work any more", I suppose you can't start Windows, ways to correct? If so, the answer is a program you burn on a CD called BootMed; Download 64-bit here: http://download.cnet.com/BootMed-64Bit/3000-2094_4-75450831.html and the 32-bit version from here: http://download.cnet.com/BootMed/3000-2094_4-75448200.html (only use the Direct download link).
Once downloaded, burn it to a CD, load this CD in Windows 7 computer and ensure that the CD drive is the first boot device, restart the computer. This will load a modified version of Ubuntu on your system, which includes antivirus and anti-malware programs. Run and remove anything they find. When they have finished their trial scans restarting the computer without the CD installed. What happens now?
Post your results here and let me know how you fare.
Kind regards

So I have a genuine Windows 7 Ultimate which came with my Dell XPS 15z (purchased directly from Dell). My problems started a few weeks ago, when an update of windows seems not to have installed correctly. I regularly get pop-up messages telling me that my windows is "not authentic". I downloaded the Microsoft legitcheck.hta program, which tells me that the only solution is to buy another copy of Windows. I have Windows free keys at my University, however, but the instructions to find out where to enter tells them to go to computer-> properties and select "activate windows". But here, it says "Windows is activated"! It seems that my Windows is caught in a limbo where it cannot decide whether it is authentic or not... I uninstall the update failed, but it did not help.
Please run the Microsoft Genuine Diagnostics Tool then copy and paste the results into an answer here for further analysis:
http://go.Microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=52012Have you installed a new hardware or software since you started facing this problem?
Do you have any software installed record cleaning? If so, uninstall it, registry software is known to tamper with Windows activation technologies.
What Antivirus utility you installed?
What's your date and time correct?
Also:
Check your hard drive for errors:
Click Start
Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: chkdsk /f /r
When you restart your system, your computer will be scanned for errors and will try to correct them.
then
Click Start
Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: sfc/scannowThis will check for any breach of integrity
Restart your system
You can also try to do a system restore before you start experiencing this problem:

All of a sudden not authentic Windows 7 prof
I received a computer laptop gateway by my brother in law in last November. It worked perfect until a month ago, when suddenly the screen went black and a message appeared in the corner saying windows was not authentic. I ran virus/malware and it comes up with nothing. I don't understand why it isn't authentic all of a sudden. last week he began to have greater problems; super slow, refusing to open the system recovery, open new downloads and won't let me not sign as an administrator. my brother-in-law would never give me a pirated version, and it was fine for months then I don't understand what went wrong. There must be malicious software that is not be picked up by the scan, but I can't try to disassemble anything because it now cannot me access to recovery, or important files. Help!

Build 7601, not authentic Windows. Can I change OEM Retail?
Windows 7 Home premium OEM worked very well on my PC at home built for 6 months or more. Then I started getting warnings that the version is not authentic. I bought the software from a reputable supplier and I thought that you had to use OEM on a new PC. I did research as much as I can on the subject, but I am reluctant to pay again for a commercial version. Can't understand why MS would allow sales OEM versions to the public if they can only be used by certified computer manufacturers? Is there something I can do? I don't mind paying a small fee if I committed a mistake, but not the entire cost.

Not authentic Windows after changing the hard drive
Hi, I got a genuine version of windows 7 on my PC, but the hard drive was too small. I bought a new hard drive and copied the entire former disk including the operating system on it and only use the new disk. I have now a message saying that my copy of windows is not genuine and I need to buy a new copy. Is it possible to validate my copy without having to buy windows again? I bought the PC with windows pre-installed, this isn't a product key. If I reinstall my old drive do I find the key there and type it on the new drive? is this so where is it located? My operating system is Windows 7 Professional.
Thank you
Barry.

Windows 7 came preinstalled on the old drive? If that were the case, use the product key on the COA sticker to reactivate Windows 7 the new disk:
Click Start, right click on computer
Click on properties
Scroll down to the Windows Activation
Click on the link 'change product key '.
Enter the product key located on the COA sticker attached to the bottom of your laptop or in the battery compartment. Click next to activate via the Internet.

Back to Vista after not authentic Windows 7 was installed
a friend installed a copy of windows 7 ultimate in gift, now is to show that counterfeiting;
I want to go back to vista, but it was removed from my laptop,
How can I download a copy of vista and use my original key to activate it, preferably without any cost more
Really, the only option is to contact the manufacturer of the computer and get a set of recovery disc for a small fee (no cost) to restore your system back to factory conditions. It would be a pure install so be sure that you have backed up your important data (programs, settings and updates will have to be re-installed). Another option is to find someone with an Installation disc full Vista genuine in the same size of the bit and use it to do the installation with your original key (assuming that the key was for a full installation - if it was an upgrade, you must install and activate the original operating system first and then perform the upgrade - you can not use a key to upgrade to a full installation).
There is no download legal, free Vista product from anywhere.
Here is Microsoft's policy on replacement software: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326246/en-us. As you can see, it won't be a big help in this situation if you want to avoid or at least minimize costs.
I'm sorry, we can not help you more, but these are your options.
Good luck!

How can I solve the error message I'm not authentic Windows?
I had to replace the hard drive on my laptop of HP because it wouldn't start. I restored my system from a complete image of the system using Norton Ghost. Now, I am constantly the following error screen:
When I try to fix the error, and I download the required file, I get the following error:
How can I fix it, because I fear that my system is locked in. The laptop computer was purchased with Windows Vista preloaded, which has been updated to Windows 7 with the disc provided by Microsoft.
To analyze and solve problems for Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the diagnostic report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to the desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once downloaded, run the tool.
Click on the button continue, after a short time, continue button will change to a copy button.
Click the copy button in the tool (ignore the error at this stage) and then paste (with r-click and paste or Ctrl + V) in your message. (please do not change the report.)

Pavilion p6 - 2316 s: not authentic windows error message
I just this computer. He said that this is not a genuine version of Windows 7. This is supposed to be a Windows 8 installed in any case. How do I get this back to the original version so I can get rid of the seeds. I don't have a recovery disk.
Hello;
Let me welcome you on the HP forums!
You are right in this model that PC did not come with Win7 preinstalled. However, it came with Win8.1 or preinstalled Win8.
Ordinarily, I advise to use HP recovery media to restore your PC to its original state. That would erase the entire disk, format the drive and install the operating system, drivers and utilities HP.
Unfortunately, there is no support of HP recovery related to HP for your PC Product Page. This could be an oversight by HP, or it could also mean that HP stock is no longer the recovery media for your PC.
You can try to contact the HP customer directly, using the links below, to see if you can order them if:If you live in the United States or the Canada, details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1
If you live elsewhere, contact details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html
NOTE: once you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to someone ' one - it can take a while!
If you have difficulties to find a phone number, then try: 1 (800) 474-6836If HP no longer provides a recovery media for your model, a few other sites, you should check are: http://www.computersurgeons.com/ and http://www.restoredisks.com/
Good luck
