8 GB or 4 GB max? (HP G62-a15SA)

Just had an email from Crucial by saying that my phone can take up to 8 GB of memory!

Upgrade to 8 GB?

But the HP site says 4 GB:

HP G62-a15SA

Really confused by there!

Hello:

It's a tough call. When in doubt, I'd go with the specifications of the manufacturer.

  • G62 A35ER: memory RAM Max for G62 a35er

Hi, in the manual for my a35er G62 (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02542102) says that it can to support up to 8 GB of memory RAM, but the supported higher in the manual configuration is 2x2gb (4 GB).

    How can I know what kind of config my phone supports? (2 x 4 GB - 8 GB total / 2x8GB - 16GB total)

Right in the manual, the bottom of page 1:

Supports up to 8 GB of memory system

Example configurations that they give the list just means that it has been sold, so apparently it was sold only with up to 4 GB of memory, but can use and accept 8 GB (2 x 4).

This is the memory class module:

    4 GB (only for model 1.1) 599092-001

For the 1st generation Intel Core laptop computers, it is important that you use low density 8 black blocks by memory side only.

  • My memory works ok? (Additional JEDEC listed)

    Additional JEDEC #6?

I bought this 2 GB of http://tinyurl.com/2urvxgl key to upgrade my laptop to 4 GB. Because I mix I wanted to make sure that all manufacturers (Micron & Samsung) is very well by running CPUz diagnostics and noticed that Micron module has an additional entry in the JEDEC timing Table (it lists JEDEC #6 10.0 - 10-10-28-38 761 MHz) I also noticed the Micron stick seems to have a different number of chips on the stick of RAM too compared to the Samsung RAM.

-Is this normal? -Do you think I'm getting double channel of this mix of manufacturers?
I guess the worst case scenario is to order another Micron 2 GB stick so that I have identical, but all pairs seems OK so far.

    Hi erico!

I thank you for your reply, noted that the SPD does not give abilities - having a JEDEC extra listed on my new stick of RAM and not the other question? It does not matter. Those are the timings primary, secondary and tension that a BIOS can use to automatically set the memory at FSB speeds.

Also, I noticed a change in the frequency of frequency & DRAM NB when comparing the original configuration of 3 GB for my new 4 GB configuration: old Vs new Config

    Is this normal?

The speed of the memory takes by default the slowest speed. Consider yourself lucky that it starts in Windows. Most do not have that kind of luck and is frustrated to have the new memory that does not work in their notebooks.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, I want to be sure I'm not compromising performance by mixing RAM from different manufacturers. If additional memory is slower than the original memory then you have slowed the operations of memory and essentially lost some performance. I see it running in dual channel. It's a surprise. Lucky you!

  • HP G62-b51SI: Max Ram in a laptop HP G62 b51SI

    Nice day

I would like to know what is the max Ram I can update in my laptop HP G62-b51SI?

At the moment I have 2x2gig of Ram. When I insirted 2x4gig ram, the laptop wouldn't start.

The problem with that is that if it has a global maximum of 4 concerts there also a max per slot of 2 GB. So, theoretically a 4 GB does not work in a slot, if max is really 4 gigs. If 4 GB works when it is installed by itself, then we can have a bad location or a problem of bad module. This seems like an extreme long shot, but what you have to lose by trying?

  • HP G62 Max Ram?

    Hi guys,.

    I have a small question. I have a HP G62 and im happy with my laptop, but there are 1 it's a pain in my eye;

    The graphics card.

I read that if I put more RAM in my laptop I could use more MB of my graphic card which is ~ 68-128 MB

I checked the HP website for more details and my G62 MAX 8 GB of RAM support

    Here is the link

My question is whether it is true that my laptop can really supports 8GB!

And what DDR3 RAM is supported

    Thanks, Murat

    Hi, Murat:

Here is the service manual for your laptop:

  • Max Memory 4GB or 8GB G62 - B10SD?

    Hello

For my studies, I bought a laptop G62-B10SD about a month ago. In the new project, we started, we need to virtualize servers. Currently, my laptop works with 4 GB of memory. It is not enough to run several servers at the same time.

I want to upgrade my laptop to 8 GB memory. HP said that my laptop can support a maximum of 4 GB. But some memory company sells 8 GB for my laptop. Is it possible to extend the max memory you accepted in my notebook?

I really need the memory to work on my homework.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jeroen

Your laptop supports up to 8 GB of memory system... Specifications memory would be DDR3 1066 MHz

  • Taken Max memory supported by HP G62-b50SQ.

    Hello.

4 months ago I needed a laptop, and my choice was HP G62-b50sq. I am happy with my choice, but it came with only 3 GB of memory, and it is simply not enough for me.

I read a lot of reviews and specifications of this particular configuration, and in each of them, he says that the accepted maximum memory is 4 GB. Here's the question: why? The processor P6100, then it has a controller integrated DDR3-1066 memory and it supports 8 GB of RAM, so why this particular cell takes in charge only half? Or there is not enough physical space for double side slots inside to adapt?

    Thank you.

    Specifications:

    HP G62-b50sq

    Intel P6100 @ 2.00GHz

    3 GB DDR3 - 1066

    ATi Radeon 5470 512 MB DDR3

    Seagate 500 GB HARD drive

    Hello:

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c02542102.PDF

There is conflicting info on the product specifications page and the service manual.

State of care product max is 4 GB.

Service manual says max is 8 GB (2 x 4 GB).

    My advice:

Download and run the free memory Crucial Analyzer.  That will tell you how much memory you can install on your laptop.

    http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/

I'm sure he'll come back and tell you that you can install 8 GB.

If for some unforeseen reason it does not work, then you can still play and buy a 4 GB chip and install it and see what happens.

Chips 4 GB DDR3 are not too expensive (under $ 20.00).

    Hello Ahmed,.

This is the information you request.

Supports up to 8 GB of memory system

Supports dual channel DDR3 1066 MHz memory

In this case, it supports 8 GB of ram, but you must have 2 modules of 4 GB each on DDR3

  • HP G62-340US: it will be useful to upgrade my CPU?

I recently bought 8 GB of RAM and an SSD of high quality for my 6 year old HP G62-340US, but the computer feels not as fast it should with these updates. I have an AMD 2.2 Ghz processor, but the CPU still seems to be maxing out, even at startup. This doesn't seem right, so I ask you:

Is this old CPU slow down my computer?
If this is the case, is it possible to upgrade my CPU to something newer and fastest?

    JGSaunders

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post on performance issues and wanted to help.

To start, you can see if anything in this post help with performance problems: HP PCs - increase the performance system and maintenance of your computer (Windows 10) | HP® customer support

IF that is not the case, then you are against some serious limitations.

First of all, your PC did not come with preinstalled Win10, so I think that you have gone to Win10 of Win7, right?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the problem, that you are facing is that Microsoft provides only pilots with the most basic features and what you really need for these features in laptops is the specialized drivers written for the specific material found in laptops - and unfortunately, there is no HP Win10 laptop driver.

This means that your PC is probably NEVER going to be fully functional under Win10 because the pilots is needs for all features simply do not exist!

Secondly, you have installed Win10 32 bit, so you wasted your money by buying this memory.  The 32-bit Windows operating system are limited by the policy of using only a little more than 3.2 GB of memory, regardless of the amount of memory you have in the machine.  There are hacks which allow you to use ALL your memory, but those who violate the license agreement with MS, so we does not allow to refer to them.

    -------------------------------------------------

One possibility, if you want to go to the trouble, is to do a clean installation of Win10 by using media, created using this link: install Windows 10 using the tool of creation of media - Windows help

Note that when you download and build install media, the default tool corresponding to what is already installed on your PC (as in home for the House, and 64-bit to 64 - bit).  While you CAN change these settings, are NOT.  If you do, the media that results will be different and will force you to enter a NEW product code.

Once you have that media, you start from it and install Win10 on top of what you have now.  However, you will lose all settings, configurations, and applications in the process.  So reinstall applications, this is what is required if you go down this road.

However, I did this on an HP DV6 laptop and since then he is working very well!

    Good luck

I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.

    Hello

To answer your questions in order:

    1. there is a list of compatible processors on Page 91 of your & Maintenance Guide.  I always recommend to check with HP, once you have made your choice, as errors in the list have been known.

2 video chip is integrated into your motherboard, and is not an evolutionary element.

3 max Ram is 8 GB - IE the Modules of DDR3 2 x 4 GB - see Page 54 of your & Maintenance Guide.
