  What operating system do you use?

  If you use windows7, I suggest you to follow the methods and check.

  Method 1:

  Temporarily disable or turn off the anti-virus\firewall and check if the problem persists. If no problem occurs, then you need to firewall settings in the security software.   Note: Check that you enable your anti-virus\firewall on the computer after you complete these steps.   I suggest that you put your computer in a clean boot State and then install the updates that are mentioned. The issue could be related to a third party software conflict causing the issue (error codes) to occur. Clean boot helps eliminate conflicts of third party software.

  Tried to perform my automatic update tonight, security for Windows Vista (KB978338) has not however one number of other updates succeeded.  I received an error code 80004004 for the update has failed.  How can I get this update take?  Pretty novice at this, I can try and restart this particular update?  Don't know how to do.  Thank you.

  Change your MSN Messenger sign in settings

  1. open MSN Messenger

  2. click on the down arrow next to your current status (available, offline)

  3. click on Options

  4. click on connect

  5. under the general rubric you can choose to Remove the check mark in the boxes next to automatically run Windows Live Messenger when I log to Windows or automatically open a session when it is connected to the internet.

  6. change one of these options will prevent you to be automatically logged into Hotmail.
