a closing RAC node

It is obvious that closing a node (node 1) of the CARS would be disconnect all the session connected in node1?
While node 1 is down, reconnecting to RAC establishes liaison with node2 (load balancing is enabled)

But, is it possible to avoid the disconnection of the sessions connected to NODE1 and remains connected to the other node (NODE2) while shudown immediate command executed in ud1?

Thank you

Immediate stop on RAC works like on no CARS. All connected sessions are completed and restored. Oracle does not wait for the sessions at the end (without taking into account JOB option)

Also the information in another answer is also not totally correct. If a session is disconnected attempts to reconnect what happens depends on configuring sqlnet. In other words, if the session is trying to connect to a tns service name that points to only the instance down then it will fail. If If the name of the service points to a tns that refers to multiple instances then it will try to connect to another instance. Configuration options to determine exactly what is happening.

  • RAC node down for a month

    Hi all

    I have the data base RAC with two nodes that is a copy of the Production database which purpose QA.

    There were a few problems that took two weeks to be resolved and since then there is a node running and active and the other is down for 1 month.

    Since it is QA we had no need of SLA and issues have been fixed when we had time to work on it.

    Before you start the RAC node that is down I would like to know if I need to take care of something before you start the node that is down for a month.

    Or if I need to make a correction.

    I'd appreciate any comments.

    Thanks in advance

    KZ

    If the remaining node went unchanged, so you can start the node to the ground with no problems... a minute, a day or a month, it's okay.

    The biggest challenge over such a long period of time is to make sure that someone does not have configuration changes to the top node. You don't want to apply the patches of OS or Oracle patches. This can complicate things when the other node comes back upward.

    See you soon,.

  • Sleeping Sync Application with 2 RAC node after migration of DB level

    Dear all,

    I migrated my level of database - 11.2.0.3 of single node (file system) to node 2 RAC - 11.2.0.3 (ASM disk group). Now I want to configure my APPS (R12.1.3) level with node 2 RAC, but I wonder how it do?
    I am also to add a node more to inorder of application level to set up PCP and DNS load balancing.

    I already applied patches of pre-required on the Application tier before migrating to the 2-node RAC database layer.
    1. oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 Maintenance Pack Patch 7303030
    2 AutoConfig, apply R12. T2K. B.Delta 3 Patch 8919489
    3 9926448 patch to fix the known problem with FND_FS/SM alias generation with ANALYSIS is enabled.
    4 ANALYZE the functionality of automatic configuration of the receiver, apply either R12. T2K. B.Delta 3 [Patch 8919489] and R12. ATG_PF. B.Delta.3 [Patch 8919491], or 12.1.3 [Patch 9239090]

    I did the DB migration as core practice DBA. My level of DB is now on node 2 CARS. And the Application Tier (single node) is still the same old server... need to synchronize with the 2 RAC node and add the additional Application layer node so that the CFP and DNS can be configured.

    Please suggest.

  • License one RAC node

    Hi all
    We organize several licenses systems cars of the ERA. If we plan to spend the normal rac EE to the 'RAC ONE NŒUD.

    Can anyone tell me if the normal license to use rac ' rac a node "or we need the option ' rac a node?

    Thank you * T

    "RAC" cost about 25 k per CPU and the fact of "rac node" around 10, so the question is if we use "rac a node" instead of lets say "normal cars", we can use our current licence or should buy us new licenses.

    CARS and ONE NŒUD CCR are two options of DIFFERENT Oracle Database (such as advanced partitioning and security etc.), so if you use the CAR - you buy RAC, if you use a NŒUD CCR - you buy a CAR NŒUD.
    It's like you ask if we by partitioning option, we use advanced security? Of course not.

    The point is, BECAUSE ONE NŒUD offers the possibility to create a normal CARS only 30 minutes (for moving users from one node to another), so that's why it is less expensive than normal CARS.

  • How are RAC nodes linked in a virtual environment?

    Oracle version: 11.2
    SE host: Windows 7
    Guest operating system: Solaris 10
    Virtualization software: VMWare Workstation 8

    I think to set up a node 2 CARS with storage in an openfiler VM virtual machines.

    I have a very basic question about networking.

    In the real world, the machines are connected by physical cables on the switches... etc. But in a virtual world, how are the virtual computers connected to each other.

    For example:
    For the private interconnect, how is network adapters on 2 nodes connected. Are they "connected" automatically when
    We assign IPs in a separate subnet mask?

    If the separate subnet mask is the way to do that, should I allocate how subnet masks?
     255.255.255.0  ------> for Public Interface

     255.255.255.121 -----> for Private Interface (don't know if this is valid in Solaris or Linux)

    Hello

    For example:
    For the private interconnect, how is network adapters on 2 nodes connected. Are they "connected" automatically when
    We assign IPs in a separate subnet mask?

    For each virtual network in the virtual machine, VMWARE has a virtual card in a physical machine.

    In vmware physical machine to create a new virtual adapter (for example host only), when you create a new virtual machine and add the network interface, you must associate the new interface of virtual machine to the virtual map of the physical machine.

    for example
    Physical machine - adapter-1 (host only)

    Machine virtual A: the eth0 Interface (using the ADAPTER-1)
    Machine virtual B: the eth0 Interface (using the ADAPTER-1)

    As the virtual machines are configured to use the same virtual map of the physical machine, it is as if they were in the same switch.

    If the separate subnet mask is the way to do that, should I allocate how subnet masks?

    255.255.255.0  ------> for Public Interface

    255.255.255.121 -----> for Private Interface (don't know if this is valid in Solaris or Linux)

    No problem, it is transparent, you can configure your virtual machine interface as you would in physical env.

  • Creation of RAC nodes on VM Ware workstation; NIC issue

    DB version: 11 GR 2
    Guest operating system: Solaris 10 (August 2011 publication)
    SE host: Windows 7

    VM Ware workstation using 8, I am creating RAC nodes.
    For each node, I need two network cards
    NIC 1 ---- for public network (Plus VIP,SCAN)

    NIC 2 ----- for private network (Interconnect)
    For the configuration of network adapter, VM has the following choices

    1 bridged
    2 NAT
    3 host-Only
    4 custom: specific virtual network

    These options are important for the creation of Public/private NETWORK card? If so, which one should I choose for NIC1 and NIC2?

    Hello

    For the configuration of network adapter, VM has the following choices

    1 bridged

    Bridged mode it is commonly used, virtual machines can communicate fully with each verse outside through the host machine. Type of network connection between a virtual machine and the rest of the world. Under networking networking, a virtual machine appears as an additional computer on the same physical Ethernet network as host.

    2 NAT

    NAT is useful when you have a limited amount of IP addresses or are connected to the network via a non Ethernet network card. NAT works by NAT of the virtual machines in a private network of VMnet than the host machine. When a virtual machine sends a request to access a network resource, it appears as if the request came from the host machine to the network resource.

    3 host-Only

    Network invited only provides a network connection between the virtual machine and the host computer, using a virtual NIC which are visible by the host operating system. This approach can be useful if you need to set up an isolated virtual network.

    4 custom: specific virtual network

    Establishment of the network for your personalized virtual network components is a very simple process. Before attempting to implement complex virtual networks, you should have a good understanding of how to configure the network devices in your host operating system and guest.

    These options are important for the creation of Public/private NETWORK card? If so, which one should I choose for NIC1 and NIC2?
    NIC 1 - for the public network (more VIP, SCAN)

    Option 1

    Map NETWORK 2 - for private network (networking)

    Option 3 or 1 is recommended option 3, but none of these options will work.

  • Why the RAC node link a virtual IP address of a cluster server?

    We have a RAC 4 nodes 10.2.0.3, who has had only one node powered off for a few weeks. We notice that the VIP of inactive node appears in the ifconfig of node 1, linked on eth0:2. Yesterday, I removed it using delete ifconfig on eth0:2. I checked in ifconfig and, indeed, the link was gone. When three other RAC nodes rebounded last night the VIP associated with the other server had, and more. How? Why?

  • DR for two RAC nodes

    Hello

    We have two node RAC on AIX. Version of the installed infrastructure 12 c software and there are two versions of (GR 11, 2 and 10g) databases are running. GPFS is used as filesystem shared in the primary circuit. Now we intend to stand-alone configuration standby for all databases.

    Please suggest if we need to install software of grid Infrastructure in DR side or we can go for only RDBMS software. Main site uses GPFS and if we use the GPFS DR side also.

    If it is perfectly correct then we can go ahead with normal file system DR.

    You can go ahead with normal file system.

    As DR site have the unique instance of database, so is NOT recommended using GPFS. On your particular case is recommended to use the operating system's file system.

    Hi friends,

    Recently, we build a server CAR (which is yet to go live) with 2 nodes. When the creation of diskgroup, one of my colleagues, s/n s by wrong used rootvg like diskgroup. Of course, later he dropped that. But the disk header has been corrupted that ASM has tried to use it.

    Clusterware and RDBMS is made in the separate file system, and it is in good condition.

    Yesterday, the storage team cloned 2nd rootvg from node to node 1. Now, as the clusterware and RDBMS facilities remained intact on the 1st node, is anyway we can to new re - configure CRS etc. on node 1 and join in cluster?

    If possible, please provide a link or define steps how we can do it. Thanks in advance

    You can run, as ROOT, $GI rootcrs.pl / src / / installation folder. This would remove the Setup on node 1 and you would be able to run the new root.sh which would reconfigure the CRS on node1.

    Hi Vandana,

    Thanks for your time.

    I commented the line on which the IP 127.0.0.1 is shown in/etc/hosts on all nodes.

    file/etc/hosts is same nodes.when I do a ping to the public ip address, it is show the IP local hots i'e 127.0.0.1 not the real that I craved in the file/etc/hosts.

    After that I comment that line of hole and he ping is resolved.

    Regrads,

  • Is it possible to have three Undo tablespace for a 2 RAC node?

    Version: 11.2.0.2/RHEL 5.4

    I was under the impression that you need only one UNDO Tablespace for each instance. But, for our 2 bow TIE, I see three Undo tablespace. No idea what is the third for?
    SQL> select tablespace_name,status from dba_tablespaces where CONTENTS = 'UNDO';

    TABLESPACE_NAME                STATUS
    ------------------------------ ---------
    UNDOTBS1                       ONLINE
    UNDOTBS2                       ONLINE
    UNDOTBS3                       ONLINE

    SQL> select distinct inst_id from gv$session;

       INST_ID
    ----------
             1
             2

    $ olsnodes -n
    thclst214   1
    thclst215   2

    I think it's possible, but a database instance is not able to use an undo tablespace. It is probably an error and you can try to drop the tablespace is not in the GV$ PARAMETER.

    I ran the following on a 2 RAC 11.2.0.1 running node:

    SQL>  select inst_id, name, value from gv$parameter where name = 'undo_tablespace';

       INST_ID NAME                 VALUE
    ---------- -------------------- --------------------
             1 undo_tablespace      UNDOTBS1
             2 undo_tablespace      UNDOTBS2

    SQL>  create undo tablespace undotbs3;

    Tablespace created.

    SQL> select tablespace_name, status from dba_tablespaces where contents='UNDO';

    TABLESPACE_NAME                STATUS
    ------------------------------ ---------
    UNDOTBS1                       ONLINE
    UNDOTBS2                       ONLINE
    UNDOTBS3                       ONLINE

    SQL>  drop tablespace undotbs3;

    Tablespace dropped.

    SQL> select tablespace_name, status from dba_tablespaces where contents='UNDO';

    TABLESPACE_NAME                STATUS
    ------------------------------ ---------
    UNDOTBS1                       ONLINE

  • Creating a stand-alone DB in a RAC node

    Grid and RDBMS Home version: 11.2.0.2

    We have 2 node cluster with 3 DBs linking 11.2 RDBMS HOST. One of our teams want a db of stand-alone test in this cluster Node1. For this DB data files will be stored in the Local file system.
    Can I use the existing HOUSE of RDBMS used by DBs CARS to create this standalone DB?

    Hello

    Yes. I recommend you use DBCA to create a database.
    Start DBCA on node where the database will be created, and then choose the option "Single Oracle Database Instance". I have no course if the database is automatically added on rock, but I think so. (pretty obvious)

    If you created the database manually (IE without DBCA) then you must add the OCR database using "srvctl.

    $ srvctl add database -d   -o  -c    -x    -p

    Where:
        -d Unique name for the database
        -o          ORACLE_HOME path
        -c Type of database: RAC One Node, RAC, or Single Instance
        -x Node name. -x option is specified for single-instance databases
        -p               Server parameter file path

    Hope this helps,

  • ANALYZING listener 11 GR 2 and AMT DataGuard configuration for RAC nodes

    By oracle paper MAA for 11 GR 1 material to configure Oracle Networking, they recommend to configure listener_hostname on each host (2 Guest CARS on primary, 2 Guest CARS standby in standby mode). Like Listener_europa, Listener_callisto, Listener_dione, Listener_hyperion.

    I installed two primary databases grid/oracle RAC and now try to configure both nodes to backup CARS. I couldn't find any documents on how to configure the network files. 3 SCAN listeners were now configured and running on the main nodes of the rac.

    so the configuration of listner.ora, how to set up listner_hostname? or should I use scan listener?

    Can someone tell me exactly how I can configure tns entries in such situation?

    Thank you

    Hello;

    So I think Yes 10 5 (per node) If you have two.

    See the document Oracle B28282-02

    2.6.4.6 use of standby Redo Logs and configure the appropriate size
