A difference card STR-DN1040 US / UK

Hi, I got a little curious earlier today, when I went in the store to buy my new A / V Amp and I was told that there was no Bluetooth.

Well, I had seen Youtube and also the same site that the STR-DN1040 has Bluetooth, WIFI, and Airplay, so I was quite insistent that this was the case.  I was of course wrong, because I am in the United Kingdom and for one reason or another its been subscribed.

http://www.sony.co.uk/product/hcs-home-cinema-receiver/str-dn1040 - this is the version that we get.

So the question I would ask is, while I'm more to the United States in one of the next weeks I can pick it up and bring it back to the UK?  What (if any) problems will I have?

My intention is to use in conjunction with the BRAVIA TV KDL46W905A, the functions will work as they normally would?

All other points to note would be greatly apreciated IE too... is the international warranty ETC.

Thank you

Dave

  • STR DN1040 HDMI HDCP issues

I have a recurring issue with my new receiver STR-DN1040. It works fine for a while and then it stops negotiating devices on my TV HDCP. For example, my PS3 will display a black screen when I turn it on. My TiVo Series 3 displays a screen saying that there is a negotiating HDCP error trying to watch cable channels. The only solution I found is to unplug the receiver from the wall and plug it in again - then it immediately starts working again.

It produces at least a couple of times a week, and it's extremely frustrating. Looking at a few discussions on here and other websites this is not an uncommon problem.

I tried tweaking about all the settings that I can think of nothing doesn't. One who seems to have made the most difference is turning off the fast display of the HDMI, but it might just be a coincidence.

Here's what I connected through my receiver (all with HDMI):

    Apple TV

    Xbox 360

    Wii U

    PlayStation 3

    TiVo Series 3

    Sony BDP-S360 Blu Ray

My TV is a Sony KDL-46EX710.

My HDMI outputs receiver / A + B the TV (I have a set of HDMI input upwards for games and one for the TV-movie).

As you can tell, I love my Sony AV products. I wish just that this receiver has worked reliably for me.

Is this a known problem and it's something that will be fixed in a future update? I really want to love this receiver (and most of the time I do - when it works!), but every time I turn on the TV and get a HDCP error, I want to throw it out the window.

Ideas or ideas here would be appreciated.

  • Remote control Medai vs STR-DN1040 cannot change the source?

I just installed my Sony STR-DN1040 home theater receiver and have a few questions about the media remote ap...

    (1) I have it all connected and registered and the ap is functional, but in "remote mode", it lists all entries in my (BD, cable/satellite, DVD, FM, etc) as buttons, I can support on and they light up and make a tone of confirmation on my iPhone 4s, but they do not change the source to the receiver.  The rest of the features seem to work and if I use the media remote ap for go to the GUI menu, I can arrow over 'look' and then select a source, and that works fine.  The problem is when you are in another room and want to power on the receiver, then choose an audio source and play without having to turn on the TV or be in this room, you can't (or at least I can't) because the hot-key source on the ap do nothing.  What did I miss?

    (2) I have programeed the 1040's physical remote to control my Samsung Blu - Ray player.  The Medai remote access point can now also control it, or is the 1040's remote physical a completely separate device?

    Thank you!

    Hello Apcrews,

The STRDN1040 was intended to be used with the Sony 'TV Sideview demand' which includes many new features and replace the existing approx. remote media TV Sideview will will allow you to switch between inputs, however there is no visual feedback in the app, so you'll need visibility on the front panel of the receiver or GUI.

The application will not work to control your player of Samsung BD. The reason is that you have programmed the 1040's physical remote to control the player of comic book via codes IR (infrared), these codes resident in actual distance rather than the receiver and the orders are sent directly from the 1040's remote control.

  • Sony STR-DN1040 receiver help

I have a Sony STR-DN1040 receiver. I have my PC connected to the receiver and I can not get sound when I have an optical cable connected to my receiver. I have the cable plugged into OPT1 and cable HDMI plugged into Video 1 (note: my PC sends no audio through the HDMI, so I have to use the optical audio input). I got this Setup on my previous Onkyo receiver and everything worked perfectly. I have not changed the PC settings so everything on this end should always be configured correctly. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Andy

You can reassign the DIGITAL to other entries input jacks, if the default settings of the sockets do not match your own equipment.  The default assignment of OPT1 (where you plugged in your PC) is SAT/CATV and which could be the reason why there is no audio coming out of your receiver, even if the PC is out the digital signal.

Try to set OPT1 to VIDEO1 under [A. ASSIGN] assignment of digital audio menu. Follow the steps below

    1 press AMP MENU

The menu is displayed on the notice board of the receiver.

2 go all the way to Input settings]]

3 select digital audio input assignment [A. ASSIGN]

    4 the value OPT1 VIDEO 1

See page 86 to 87 of the manual provided for more information on the assignable audio input jacks.

  • My STR-DN1040 will not power "on".

Yesterday, I bought a brand new Sony STR-DN1040 at Best Buy.  I came home and hung it through Monster THX HDMI for my Sony KDL-52XBR9 HDTV cables, my reader blu - ray Sony BDP-BX57, 52 '' my box of cable Motorola DCX3510-M and my Polk Audio 7.1 surround subwoofer and satellite speaker system.  I have connected the STR-DN1040 via ethernet to a cable modem, which is located in the same rack as the home theater unit. Everything was (is) connected properly.

I plugged the STR-DN1040 in my Monster surge protector/power strip behind the shelf of home theater. where all other components are connected.  I heard the slight, familiar "click" can be received and activated inside the STR-DN1040.

I turned on my TV box and cable.  I went to the front of the STR-DN1040 "in office", but the small LED above the power button was already green, as if he (power) on its own.  So, I waited.  And waited and waited... something appears on the STR-DN1040 screen, but nothing ever presented.  I thought that perhaps he made an update of the firmware straight out of the box, but after an hour, it became apparent that something was wrong.  Then...

I unplugged the STR-DN1040 and let stand for 30 minutes.  I plugged it in and it did the same thing as described above.  The Green LED power 'works' light comes on in a few seconds the power cable is plugged in, unless you press the power button on the front of the unit.  And then... He's just sitting there.  The device does not react to any pressure on the buttons or dials on the front.  The device does not respond to a key pressed on the remote control.  I checked all HDMI connections and even changed the HDMI cables, but I get nothing. Unit seems dead - D.O.A. The green light is 'on' on the front, but that's all.

Anyone have any ideas what might this happen? Everyone heard about this problem or has experienced this themselves?  Have I not a dud?  Should I just return it and get another?

I went through this process.  It seemed to work.  Leave the House and came after a few hours and I'm back to the same problem.  Tried to "clear" it, but that never happens.  I held the button for 5 then 10, then 15. No COMPENSATION.  I'm ready to ship in return!

  • Why the STR-DN1040 update taking so long?

Today, my new STR-DN1040 has received an update that you download the package and held in Updating, flashing on the screen because some then only green light flashing update then just green pwr/standby blinking light.

In short Question why must Sony A / V Receiver so long to update since nearly an hour

(Update: it finally all 2 hours later, but something weird happen the name of the network device changed some thing I don't set and was not default)

The update download speed depends on your internet connection. If you have internet high speed (i.e. the download speed of 10 Mbps or higher according to the website www.2wire.com ) and is only used by the AV receiver then it may not take as long.

What is the new name under the option network device? It's a normal operation that can change after the software update, so it can easily be seen when configuring the network connection.

    Hello.

You can connect the Roku Streaming Player at the Sony STR - DN1040 AV receiver using HDMI connection to one of the HDMI Ports IN front of the receiver (for example, DVD or VIDEO), and then press the corresponding button on the receiver's remote control to set the camera to the correct input.

  • Issue of Sony STR - DN1040 output HDMI Samsung UN60F8000BFXZA TV

    Hello community of Sony,

I have a question of a Samsung UN60F8000BFXZA TV HDMI Sony STR-DN1040 output.  I have a cable Xfinity RNG110 box and a Samsung Blue Ray BD-F5900 connected via HDMI 1.4 cables I have HDMI 1.4 cables connecting all devices.  I had the GeekSquad install TV and set up the Sony A / V receiver.  Everththing was working fine.  I turned off the system for a few hours and came back and turned on everything.  Initial configuration is A / V HDMI's out to TV input HDMI3.  HDMI input and output supports CRA.  The TV would constantly check your connection to the device.  No video just a black screen.  Power cycle sometimes or reinstall the cables could clarify the issue.  Same problem you select, the cable box or the player blue ray, as input device...  I swapped the HDMI cable from the upper area of the rec AV cable and the cable to the AV rec on television.  No change in symptoms.  I even hooked up the TV to the AV HDMI B outupt with no change in symptoms.  I directly connect the cable box to TV without problems.  I get video every time.  I'm afraid I see many messages from simular 'video problem' on the receiver AV STR-DN1040.  The two TV and AV receiver have been purchased this week.  What should be the next steps?  I have the Geek Squad back to verify that I may have a problem of AV receiver.

    Cheers, Oakleyrider

  • STR-DN1040 - pregnant outdoor and the TV volume

I recently bought the 1040 and want to configure my speakers outside - how do I do this? I wish I could choose indoor or outdoor only, or both simultaneously.   In addition, how can I watch TV (I own a Bravia) right through the TV speakers (for example, not using the home theater speakers)-j' have routing cable HDMI directly from the TV to the receiver, do I need an extra cable?

    Thank you.

You can use the features of several areas of your unit. You can see the instructions on pages 88 and 89 of the STRDN1040 Manual.

Select the TV + AMP under Audio Out option if you want the sound to the TV speaker output and the speakers connected to the receiver. Please see page 99 of the STRDN1040 operating instructions.

  • Z620: need help with the difference ("boot") of ssd pci-e cards and pci-e (BIOS) nand

    Hello

I intend to buy a card pci-express ssd for access/faster transfer, and I read the topics concerning the problem of booting from that ssd, but still did not understand much to be honest.

what I noticed, is that HP620 should work with older (like turbodrive Z), but not the based NAND, new Z turbodrive G2,.

or only with a few tricks.

    now to my question.

Some people say, this new nand ssd pci - e cards require a boot uefi bios and a few options, I do not understand.

as I have a regular bios (not), is it true that you cannot boot from these new ssd expansion slot, or are there tricks like the passage to the AHCI and a few other options in the bios?

If this is not possible, I'd be limited to regular use SATA ssd, limited to 500 MB/s of bandwidth, right?

    Thanks for any help

    Chris

    Found this info on the web;

"There are actually two versions of the player. The original version uses the familiar AHCI Protocol, while a new variant is the NVM Express standard. The model of the AHCI is compatible with a wide range of motherboards and available among a wider selection of suppliers. »

The version of NVMe is also supposed to be faster, but in reality, it is not much of a difference.

I think that you need a motherboard with a socket m2 is to see a real difference in speed compared to the old version of AHCI.

I understand that it is only the most recent Zx40 HP series range that supports readers NVMe but not sure 100%. It would certainly be a challenge trying to get one to work in a series of Zx20 HZ.

    Hello

Sorry for my ignorance but I just bought an iPhone 6 (my first) and I don't know anything about the purchase of a sim card. Do you advise me to buy a nano sim or a regular sim (my iPhone 4 has a sim card from Rogers) and what is the difference?

Whoever you are, thank you for your patience and your help.

The SIM card for the iPhone 4 is much greater. You need a SIM nano. That's the only size that fits. You get one of your carrier.

    Hello

There is a large performance difference and energy consumption.  Look at this comparison.

The 420 is a narrow card requiring only a single slot where the 450 is a map more wide which will cover the next adjacent location.  Look at the diagram for the motherboard of your PC. The GTS 450 requires a PCI-E power connector 6 pins provide the extra power for the card.

Open your PC and a few measurement in parallel with the PCI-E x 16 slot to see how long of a video card will fit. The adjacent slot on the PCI-E x 16 slot must be vacant.  Look for a PCI-E power connector 6-pin.
