  Hi-

  In the old days, Adobe Acrobat Reader to be able to read whole books aloud.  I've got Windows 8.1 on a laptop cheap (meaning not a lot of memory), and even when I select 'read aloud' and then 'read the document will end' it stops at the end of the page. I tried to highlight a selection of several pages, and it will not always cross the line of the page.  It is pretty useless, if I press my computer every 2 minutes to go to the next page and press 'read out loud '.  Any ideas?

  PS I think it is reprehensible that in 2016, 26 years after the ADA, ADE still is not having a read aloud feature, or even just a supplement to convert into a non-savable format that can be read by the reader.  Adobe voice is much better than some other readers and made better with the odd punctuation, which is part of the reason why it should be made accessible.

  While they have not been marked for accessibility? Are you on Windows?

  You could try to recreate one using this method to see if she takes care of the problem:

  • Open a Word doc
  • Click on the Acrobat Ribbon
  • Click Preferences > general and make sure that enable accessibility and reflow with tagged Adobe PDF is enabled.

• Adobe Reader 10.1.1 installed on the operating system Windows 7 with MSWord pdf will not be read aloud. Why?

  What's not here? Everything works and I checked the preferences under Edit menu. I even turned off my firewall to the case where. Also read aloud mode is checked under view in the Menu and I started it at the beginning of the document. I also checked my audio on my computer and everything is ok. Hmmm.? Can someone help me?

  Thanks to a contributor whose Id I have now lost but has the answer! It's go to preferences under display in the Menu and click general. Then uncheck Protected Mode. close the reader and re open and it worked. The voice is so much nicer than the old Adobe Reader software. Thanks to the contributors of the Forum.

  Hi Nazely,

  If you have Acrobat (not just the free reader) you can set the language of the document under file > properties > Advanced tab under the drop down language menu.

  You can use the 'Read aloud' function directly from your Adobe Reader software.

  • Open a PDF file in Adobe Reader.
  • Go to the view menu & go to 'Read aloud' & choose ' activate Read out Lout. "

  

  • When you have enabled 'Read aloud' gain access the view menu & go to 'Read aloud' the choice between the desired option "Read this page only" or "read at the end of the Document.

  You don't need a button. Just add a legend of the question bearing slides a sound add you the portion of the legend. You can hide the legend by making it transparent.

  Installation of Reader and Acrobat is not recommended. If I were you, I remove all traces of both and reinstall the one I want to keep.

• 'Read aloud' does not not with Adobe Reader XI

  I'm having the same problem to start the function "Read Out Loud" on Adobe Reader XI that many others have reported.  I have the latest version of the reader XI, I run on Windows 7, all the other texts to voice features work OK (for example, the voice "text-to-speech" test windows works fine).

  I tried all the 'simple' patches that have been proposed on the Adobe community forums.  I tried to uncheck the setting "Enable Protected Mode at startup" in the preferences.  As many others have pointed out, this is not the problem for me.  I had been using the "Read Out Loud" functionality successfully on another PC (under Adobe Reader X and Windows 7), so I'm familiar with it and I was running it properly.

  On my PC, the 'Read Out Loud' function seems to work, but there is no sound.  All audio functions work normally for my other programs. First, I click "Activate Read Out Loud", and then "read to end of Document."  I can then click on parts of the text and the text is surrounded by a box that says "Read Out Loud" works, but no sound is produced.  I work with PDF files that are not images, the "Read Out Loud" function works perfectly with these PDFs on other PCs.

  So I have poured a lot of time on this problem and have exhausted all of the 'simple' patches offered on this forum (which did not work for other users, whether, who say they have renounced player and moved on to other software).  This is a known problem that has been reported by many other users - you really tackle an update or at least a clear set of instructions that will correct the problem.  "Read Out Loud" is a very useful feature, I would like to continue using it with the player.  I know there is another text to voice software, but there are a few ffeatures player I like and I want to continue using it if a fix is available.

  Any help on this would be appreciated.  Thank you.

  I struggled with this problem since my system recently updated to windows 10. I tried a number of things, the repair function Inc. for adobe. Nothing helps. I just read your post and hey presto, I chose another voice (which apparently I had not tried before - and this function took only). So useful.

  The only way is to add the tags using Acrobat application in the PDF help Acrobat | Change the structure of a document with content panels and tags (Acrobat Pro) subtract to read the header or footer. Otherwise, you will need to select the text on each page so that it only reads the selected text.
