A doesn´t Xbox controller work on my PC (win7).

Hello

I bought a Xbox controller which contained a USB cable and I wanted to connect to my PC. The pilot wouldn automatically install so I tried to install it manually, but it failed. There are two drivers that I tried to install. One was a msi file that wouldn recognize my controller and the others were drivers listed on the microsoft support site, but install the wouldn just file INF. I tried almost everything to make my controller to work and I'm desperate T_T.

Pls help.

PS: Sry for my obnoxiously bad English.

  • A Xbox controller stopped working with the PC

I have a windows pc 8. I used my xbox controller for games there a few months. Randomly stopped working. Before when I plugged it in, it vibrated, lit and then it was connected. Now when I plug it does not vibrate, and it does not turn on the controller. He says only: "unrecognized usb device". I went to Device Manager and nothing comes for a controller xbox either. When I used the controller on my pc I have installed all the drivers. Just plugged in, and it worked. I have no idea why it stopped working. I have not installed anything new recently. Any ideas?

    Hi Jaysiff,

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction to solve the problem. However, I would be grateful if you could answer a few questions to refine the question in order to provide you with better assistance.

    1. Have you tried to connect any other USB device to this new computer laptop? If so, was the same result?
    2. Are all the device drivers and updates of Windows updated?

According to the description of the problem you found error message "unrecognized usb device". The question may arise if the currently loaded USB driver has become unstable or damaged or if your PC requires an update for problems that could conflict with a device USB and Windows. This can also occur if your USB controllers may have become unstable or corrupt. So, I would suggest trying the following steps and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

Please try the fixit (s) provided below which will help you solve common problems associated with devices and USB ports.

If method 1 does not work, try Method 2.

    Method 2:

Remove and reinstall all USB controllers.

    1. Open Device Manager by pressing the Windows key + X and select Device Manager from the list. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. In the list of the categories of equipment, locate and expand Bus USB controllers.
    3. Right-click every device under the Bus USB controllers node and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
    4. Restart the computer and let the USB controllers get reinstalled.
    5. Plug in the removable USB device and test to make sure that the problem is solved.

    Method 3

If the problem persists, I suggest to update the drivers and follow the steps in the article mentioned below to connect and see if it helps you to solve the problem.

    Xbox 1 controller drivers

Hope it would help. If problem persists always post back with the current state of your computer and the result of the proposed suggestion, we will be happy to help you.

    Kind regards

  • Xbox controller 360 + Logitech Gaming Headset G330

Extremely frustrated here... After you have reinstalled XP many times for two days, I decided the issue.

First of all, General information - had a Logitech G330 Gaming Headset for Christmas.  It uses generic Audio XP USB drivers, so no disk drivers (unfortunately, in this case...).  Pluged it didn't work properly - sounded HORRIBLE; scrambled, staticky, comments... all in audio, headphones and microphone.

Reinstalled XP, set windows to update all, headset still does not work!  Reinstalled AGAIN, and it worked.  Installed all the drivers one by one, making sure my helmet still worked.  Installed SP3 without a hitch.  More installed updates to windows.  Then, I installed my drivers of wired Xbox 360 controller from the Microsoft site... and boom, the headset sucks again!

Now, I play a LOT of pc games.  HOW can I still use my 360 controller without breaking the functionality of my new Logitech headset?  If she is to install the drivers for the controller without the audio drivers for it, or something that makes the 360 controller audio port does not work, the quality of the sound is me... it is always lower than normal, at best... new helmet is clear.

Edit - since he did not save my last edit... Yes, I did do a system restore and back when he was working.  360 controller not well yet.

Absolute worst case, I can see if I can get third-party drivers to work as XBCD and Xpadder, but last I checked, that they did not work with the 360 controller...

Here are a few other experiences with the Xbox controller and the solution that I found:
