A startup with a USB key T410

I have a PowerEdge T410 Server I bought in July 2009.  I want to change the operating system of SBS 2008 to Windows Server R2 2012.  Because the iso file for the new operating system is about 5.1 GB, I will not be able to use a DVD to install the new operating system.  I created the iso file on a USB key.  I'll be able to boot and install Windows Server 2012 R2 using my USB?  If so, should what steps I follow?

Thanks for your help.  I would like to work on this project during the coming long weekend.

Yes, you can use USB, but you can not just copy the ISO on the flash drive. You can use a tool such as rufus or Microsoft USB tool, or you can do it from Windows:

Mount the ISO. In Windows 8 +, just double-click the ISO to mount it. In Windows 7, use something like MagicISO to mount. Suppose that the ISO goes up as drive E:.

At the command prompt:

DiskPart

Select disk 1
clean
create the primary partition
assets
format fs = fat32 quick
Assign
output

xcopy/s/e/f F: E:\*.*

output

This assumes that your USB key is assigned to the F: drive letter. It also means that disk 1 is your USB. In diskpart, type "list disk" to make sure that you 'select' the right 'drive '.

The 5 GB ISO is not an ISO standard facility and she probably understands. The ISO will be less 4 GB. Most recent DVD players will read the DVD DL... you can use it also. OR you can install over the network.

  • Problems when I want to update my complete system Mavericks using a USB key with the installation program.

I want to "Refresh" my Mavericks home cleaning system and I still have a USB key with the complete installation program.

With this USB key, I installed successfully already before Mavericks. Now, I want to repeat the installation by booting from USB key. But when the installation starts early an alert appears, said something like "... the verification failed - something is changed on the volume...". "and the cant of the installation continues.

I've archived the original "OS X Mavericks installieren.app" from the app store and I have properly prepared another USB key using the terminal app, referencing the original installer, but I still get this alert when I try to install with this new USB.

It is necessary for me to work with the Mavericks, because it's the latest version of the system on which I can run Adobe Creative Suite CS6 correctly. With the later versions of OS X, I get problems on my Mac Pro (end of 2008).

I wonder what could happen with my first USB data, as I have already installed Mavericks successfully with it under the same conditions and after that he never touched the stick again so far. What can I do? What is the reason for this? Y at - there a site where I can get help or advice to solve the problem or if necessary can I re-download an Installer 'fresh '?

English is not my native, so I'm sorry if I make mistakes. My Toshiba laptop (windows 7) open the USB drive too long. Whenever I plug a USB key, he asks me to analyze the stick and check if there are errors, or proceed without analyzing. The problem is that it it scans all the time regardless of my choice. I think what you're referring to is the utility to create a password reset in case you forget your password to connect to Windows. Sounds like it may be too late for that.

  • Cannot access BIOS when OS disk encrypted w / Bitlocker, starting on the USB key is not unlock disc

    Hello

I enabled Bitlocker on my Acer Aspire 5315. The system partition is encrypted and the data partition. My motherboard doesn't have a TPM chip, so I opted for the unlock with a USB key.

When I start the PC or wake them from their hibernation, the splashboot (with the logo of Acer) BIOS screen does not display the information below on how to access the BIOS (press F2) or the boot menu (F12). And therefore I can't access those as I used to.

BitLocker does not account for the USB key, then asks for the password to unlock the HARD drive. Then Windows starts very well.

However, restart (by a Windows or after you have entered the wrong password Bitlocker too many times), the BIOS splash screen is normal (with how access BIOS and boot menu), I can access BIOS by pressing F2 AND succesfully Bitlocker unlocks the HARD drive with the USB flash drive without having to ask for the password.

So, my question is how Bitlocker unlock the HARD disk automatically via the USB when the PC starts?

    Thank you for reading.

Note: I posted this question on http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w8itprosecurity/threads they suggested that I ask the Acer support.

Thank you also get answers in the TechNet forums.  I'm sorry that you were unable to get a more complete answer it.

We suggest that you uninstall BitLocker and decrypt the drive to determine if this restores your ability to access the BIOS.

    Hello

I just got my new HP desktop HP PAVILION CORE I5 motherboard MS 7613 and im trying to install windows 7 without success, because in the BIOS the usb memory key does not START options. Don't see these settings in the bios to boot:

Floppy boot priority group - not installed

    Group - HP DVD-RAM GH60L CD-Rom boot priority

Group ST3100052AS HARD drive boot priority

Network boot priority group - not installed

More than that, I tried testing with two different usb sticks in different USB ports and the system could not start when trying to install windows 7. The two sticks were properly formatted and I have done some testing old NetBook of the mine and windows 7 have been successfully installed from two flash drives.

Second removable disk is named pro usb drive

Also two usb keys are seen in the bios on the USB PORTS SETTINGS

Any direction to help me to windows on my machine is very appreciated.

    Thank you, Bobby

Check in the BIOS for Secure Boot settting_it must be disabled before the CMU machine can boot from any source in addition to the hard drive. Also activate the Boot legacy. Save & Exit.

When starting with the USB key, press ESC immediately after turning on. This should bring up the boot F9 option where you use the arrow key to move to the low to highlight/select USB Flash. Press on enter.

  • Need help with Windows 7 key.

I have a laptop that I had to change the HARD drive due to a complete failure.  I had a Windows 7 key I know has been good and have never used, purchased as part of a package of pc 3.   Now the installation tells me that this is not a valid key.  I paid almost $150.00 for this set of 3 installs for Windows 7, about 5 years ago.

The old HDD is dead, I tried to connect with a USB key and nothing.   The laptop was working fine with WIndows 10, then the portable HARD drive is simply dead.  I need help with a new key, or at least the one I have to work.  The new drive HARD won't have not all partitions or any attached former windows key.  I can't get past the check of Windows screen.

    Need help please.

Unfortunately, no, Windows 7 must be installed on a device of storage internally. If you have the eSATA port, you can install it on a disk external eSATA.
