A switch of EtherChannel for stacking going on bandwidth

Hello.

Can anyone please advise if we have a single switch physically connected to two switches that are in a pile, will be double bandwidth or not?

Yes and no because you will have twice the available bandwidth / aggregate but a casting will use a link.

As well multiple links are used depends on your traffic compared to the hashing algorithm.

For double Etherchannel, provide an effective overall increase starting at about 50%.  (Why not full doubling?  Although Etherchannel does not account for loading link.  Given two links and two flow, the second flow has 50% chance to be assigned to the same link as the first stream.  More common, however, should distribute through links so that your overall use should improve.)

PS:

Although the increase in bandwidth might not be exactly what you want, for multiple streams you normally fall more effective bandwidth, and especially if you work with batteries (or VSS or vPC), you get an extra redundancy also.

Barrett pointed out many of the common practices suggested for stacking. The best practice is to use a loop for stacking and distributing your LAG on multiple switches in the stack, are not specific to any brand or model of the switch. The steps described in the guides of the user or the white papers generally what is the recommended configuration.
    http://Dell.to/20sLnnc

Many of the best practices scenarios will change of network-to-network based around what is currently plugged into the switch, and the independent networks needs / requirements of business. This has created a scenario where the default settings on a switch are pre-programmed for what is optimal for a fresh switch. Then recommended are described in detail in white papers for specific and not centralized scenarios in a single document of best practices that attempts to cover all scenarios.

    Express.ypH N-series switches are:
    -RSTP is enabled by default.
-Green eee-mode is disabled by default.
    -Frother is enabled by default.
-Storm control is disabled by default.

Then these things can change based on the towed gear and needs/desires of the whole of society.

For example, Equallogic has several guides that recommendations of configuration detail to different switches.
    http://Dell.to/1ICQhFX

Then on the side server, you would like to look more like the OS/server role. For example a whitepaper VMware that has some network settings proposed when running VMware in an iSCSI environment.
    http://bit.LY/2ach2I7

I suggest making a list of the technology/hardware/software, which is used on the network. Then use this list to acquire white papers for specific areas. Then use these white papers best practices in order to ensure the switch configuration is optimal for the task required by the network.

"I'm still using Microsoft Office for Mac 2008 Home & Student Edition). I want to upgrade. Can I switch to Office for Mac 2011 (still available?) or do I have to get Office for Mac 2016? I use WORD and have a large number of documents created in my genealogy.

Office 2011 always works, even with El Capitan. If you go to the office 2016, then you can only buy the annual subscription $ 99.00 / year. Office 2011 can be found for $139.00.

If you do not require 100% compatibility, you can use the Free Officefree software.

    Hello

Unfortunately, you cannot switch from Linux to windows operating system 7, but you can upgrade from Windows vista to Windows 7.

Because you are unable to upgrade Linux, I suggest you perform a custom installation of Windows 7.

  • Adding to connect 6224 replacement for stacking

    Hello

We just had a power connect 6224 replaced under warranty.

-J' removed the stacking of the faulty switch module and installed in the new switch.

-Power switch replacement and active stacking ports

    -Saved config, power off

-Attached to the other switch in the stack with stacking cables

    -Powering new switch

    -Master restarted

-Circuit breaker is backup and running normally, however the Member switch shows "code incompatibility?

I tried to turn off the Member, remove the Member from the stack, and then restore power (I can not reset the master only outside the hours). But I still get the same code shift.

    Any suggestions?

Looks like the firmware is not the same. Use the command > view version, to see what firmware the switches are on. The replacement switch must be on the same firmware as the pile. If they do not match, now may be a good time to get them all to date.

  • SNMP for stack Ports on Dell 6248? (xg1... 4)

I have 5 x 6248 stack in a ring... I can see the counters of Point of battery through the web INTERFACE.  I use munin to graphics system attributes, and it finds all the regular ethernet ports on each device, but not ports of the battery.

A snmpwalk example will show, for example:

    IF - MIB:ifDescr.47 = STRING: unit: 1 location: Port 0: 47 Gigabit - level
    IF - MIB:ifDescr.48 = STRING: unit: 1 location: Port 0: 48 Gigabit - level
    IF - MIB:ifDescr.49 = STRING: unit: 1 location: Port 0: 49 10 G - level
    IF - MIB:ifDescr.50 = STRING: unit: 1 location: Port 0: 50 10 G - level
    IF - MIB:ifDescr.51 = STRING: unit: 1 location: Port 0: 51 10 G - level
    IF - MIB:ifDescr.52 = STRING: unit: 1 location: Port 0: 52 10 G - level
    IF - MIB:ifDescr.53 = STRING: unit: 2 Slot: Port 0: 1 Gigabit - level
    IF - MIB:ifDescr.54 = STRING: unit: 2 Slot: Port 0: 2 Gigabit - level

These 10G are the optical ports at the front of the switch, but I can't find anything for my friends in the back of the switch.  I'd like to think the ifDescr soar "Slot: 1"... tips on how to find the correct OID?

If my interpretation is correct, that Lightning uses your time format default operating system. So I guess you need to change default windows 10s to 12 hours to 24 hours.

  • Could use some advice - My AV button on my remote switch not entered for 610q

Hope that anyone with a TouchSmart 610 1180qd could comment as to whether or not their touch AV on the remote control allows to switch their contributions from sources on the computer?  I just switched the computer to the problem and the other does the same thing.   I can spend using the PIP software without problem.   Have spent hours with technical support and it doesn't seem to be a ready solution - wondering if it's just a defect in design with the model.

I hope that anyone with a similar model could let me know if it works for them or not, so I can assess what to do next.

    Thanks for the comments!

I spoke with Tech Support again and think I got an answer that makes sense.  It seems that the problem is related to the ATI graphics card (my setup is 2GB ATI 5570 card) and the Intel processor and its interaction with the HDMI ports.  The alternative would be to reconfigure the computer to the NVIDIA card (whose only confirures with the 1 GB card for this version of the computer) or the reconfirure with the AMD processor.

I think I'll just live with the lack of functionality and keep the computer configured as it is.

  • Conditional switch (#if / #ifdef) for 32 against 64-bit compilation

Is there a switch for CVI 10 allowing the precompiler sets to be activated when the CVI environment changes?

I can create a value defined by the user and manually a value defined by the user, but I find that a 'automatic' variable can exist.

    Hi blakney,.

The search term is "predefined macros". Not just for the CVI: GCC and Microsoft Visual C++ documentation using the same term. Here is the CVI 2010 version: http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370051T-01/cvi/usermanual/prjpredefinedmacros/

Automatic variables are something else entirely.

  • Switching to outlook for syncying Palm Desktop synchronization

When I first set up the Palm Desktop for my Palm TX, I chose to synchronize my calendars and tasks, etc. from my outlook account. How can I change to make it synchronize calendars, tasks, etc. from my Palm Desktop program now in place?

    Thank you

    On your computer, go here:

Start button / all programs/Palm/PIM led Sync / Sync with Palm Desktop.

It must "raise the switch" to sync with the Palm Desktop rather than with Outlook.

  • Which switch to select for WMP?

I am running XP Pro SP3 on a Dell D600 Latitude with 512 MB of RAM.  I currently have Windows Media Player 9.00.00.4510.  It works fine for me, but used to synchronize with a Sansa Fuze mp3 player. the "rocket" seems to want to WMP 10 or higher, but I might be able to put files on a microSD and load this way.

Updates tells me there's an update for my WMP9.  Or I could go with WMP 10 or 11.  For now, it is not broken (except for the problem of sync mp3), so I wonder if I should even try to fix it.  On the other hand, there could be better performance.

Given my system and resources, which upgraded y ' All would recommend?

    Ed

First install WMP 10 should not be necessary, you can just skip to 11. If some required updates are not yet installed, the installer warns you to this topic.

In case something goes wrong, you can always use system restore to roll back the system where it was before the installation.

  • What Dell switches are suitable for VMware?

We will have a very simple vSphere environment. What switches should we buy? Must be Dell. I am a newbie in networking, but I'm a PCV.

    2 x ESXi hosts in a cluster HA/DRS 5

vCenter Server will run as a virtual machine

We will be using VLANs for security

We will use a pair of resilient switches

No storage traffic will go on these switches, only management, vMotion and VM Networking

The data center will provide a managed firewall. There will be no other switches.

X 2 Dell PowerConnect 2848 switches would be enough? They can carry traffic between the VLANS? Or do we need more expensive switches?

    Sorry for the newbie question!

From what I can find on the Dell Web site, the PowerConnect 2848 switch isn't a layer 3 switch, so it would not be able to carry traffic between the VLANS.  To route between VLANS, you will have them either need a dedicated router, or you'd need switches with 3 as the PowerConnect 6248 switch layer routing capabilities.

  • Switches - best bang for the buck?

We have 2 Dell 5424 switches on our configuration of vsphere 5.0. They are limited to 9000 mtu of the extended frames and I'd like to find a model that can handle up to 9216. The series 6xxx Dell starts at $1770. Can anyone recommend something less expensive which will do what I need?

    Thank you.

    zenking wrote:

Our Win2k8 R2 VM have the vNIC e1000, which seem to 9014 MTU with no way to set the value. The NPI vswitches and host are on 9000, but I understand that they allow for the overload of the header. The 5424 is stuck at 9000 and does not load. vmkping test the upper part to 8972 (given that the header is added), so the switch must be the bottleneck, unless I'm wrong about the vswitch supporting header.

The 9014's only kinda silly way of saying 9000... The MTU is 9000 and the 14 additional is what they think is the overload of layer two (14 bytes at the front of the chassis), but they also forgot the checksum CRC 4 bytes at the end.

Two things though: the 8972 is expected to vmkping load and actually show that your network is working properly. For details of this see: http://rickardnobel.se/troubleshoot-jumbo-frames-with-vmkping

Secondly: it doesn't matter if a part of the network should really be able to use, for example 9200 and a few other 9000. As long as your infrastructure (vSwitches and physical switches) are also supported at least 9000 that would work very well. The hosts will not blindly send size frames to their maximum, but doesn't make a simple form of negotiation in the session TCP connection.

This means that your machines will select common MTU lowest, and the 9200 in your case won't be necessary. See for some details:

    http://rickardnobel.se/different-Jumbo-frames-settings-on-the-same-VLAN
