Adding to connect 6224 replacement for stacking

Hello

We just had a power connect 6224 replaced under warranty.

-J' removed the stacking of the faulty switch module and installed in the new switch.

-Power switch replacement and active stacking ports

-Saved config, power off

-Attached to the other switch in the stack with stacking cables

-Powering new switch

-Master restarted

-Circuit breaker is backup and running normally, however the Member switch shows "code incompatibility?

I tried to turn off the Member, remove the Member from the stack, and then restore power (I can not reset the master only outside the hours). But I still get the same code shift.

Any suggestions?

Looks like the firmware is not the same. Use the command > view version, to see what firmware the switches are on. The replacement switch must be on the same firmware as the pile. If they do not match, now may be a good time to get them all to date.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

  • Cannot connect blue ENV3 for Compaq Vista laptop

In recent weeks, my phone, when plugged into my laptop Compaq with Winows Vista, is recognized as an unknown device. Before a few weeks ago, my cell phone from Verizon enV3 blue connected very well and I have acquired more than 400 songs on the sd card on my phone without many problems at all.  I know this isn't my phone that has the problem because I replaced it a few days ago with a new phone from Verizon enV3 blue cell phone to try to resolve the problem, and it still wouldn't work.  It is also not the cable that I use, which also allows to connect my phone to my adapter to recharge, connect my phone to my laptop because the local Verizon store, the person who helped me was used two of the same type of cell phone chargers and the same message came on my phone , who did on my charger, so I'm pretty sure that's not the cable.

That leaves my laptop as being the owner of the problem. He is never asked a driver to connect my phone to my laptop until the problem occurred a few weeks ago.  I thought I downloaded two drivers for it to work, but neither helped. So is there something that I'm supposed to do to connect the driver for my phone or what? I desperately want to get more music on my phone! Ask if you need more details and thank you in advance for responding!

  • Best Practice Guide for stacked N3024 switches

Is there a guide to BP for the configuration of the 2 N3024s stacked for the connections to the server, or is the same eql iscsi configuration guide.

    I'm trying to:

    1) reduce to a single point of failure for rack.

    (2) make good use of LACP for 2 and 4 nic server connections

    (3) use a 5224 with it's 1 lacp-> n3024s for devices of unique connection point (ie: internet router)

    TIA

    Jim...

Barrett pointed out many of the common practices suggested for stacking. The best practice is to use a loop for stacking and distributing your LAG on multiple switches in the stack, are not specific to any brand or model of the switch. The steps described in the guides of the user or the white papers generally what is the recommended configuration.
    http://Dell.to/20sLnnc

Many of the best practices scenarios will change of network-to-network based around what is currently plugged into the switch, and the independent networks needs / requirements of business. This has created a scenario where the default settings on a switch are pre-programmed for what is optimal for a fresh switch. Then recommended are described in detail in white papers for specific and not centralized scenarios in a single document of best practices that attempts to cover all scenarios.

    Express.ypH N-series switches are:
    -RSTP is enabled by default.
-Green eee-mode is disabled by default.
    -Frother is enabled by default.
-Storm control is disabled by default.

Then these things can change based on the towed gear and needs/desires of the whole of society.

For example, Equallogic has several guides that recommendations of configuration detail to different switches.
    http://Dell.to/1ICQhFX

Then on the side server, you would like to look more like the OS/server role. For example a whitepaper VMware that has some network settings proposed when running VMware in an iSCSI environment.
    http://bit.LY/2ach2I7

I suggest making a list of the technology/hardware/software, which is used on the network. Then use this list to acquire white papers for specific areas. Then use these white papers best practices in order to ensure the switch configuration is optimal for the task required by the network.

  • Connect 6224 VLAN routing and management VLAN

    Happy holidays all the world-

I read several posts here and elsewhere on the inability of the 6224 to deliver its own management interface. OK, enough, I get it. But what I don't understand is a practical solution to what seems to be a huge problem if you want to use the network to connect to the device to manage (instead of the serial console port).

Let's say I want to have three networks A, B, and C on the 6224 and configure it to route between any combination of them. Let's call them VLANS 1, 2, and 3. Three ethernet cables will connect to three ports on the 6224. for the network A, b and C. Let's just ignore shifts and redundant connections to do this.

The management VLAN can not be assigned to one of these networks, right? He said in the documentation, and it turns out if you try to do it on the configuration of the switch. It doesn't let you do.

So, how do you reach the 6224 for management? Create a fourth network, VLAN 4? This seems to be the general theme of the answers to questions like that, but how do you reach this seemingly isolated network? By definition, it cannot be routed. Any computer that you normally use on A, B or C, can not reach D.

So what then? A dedicated computer for D who cannot reach the other thing than the switch management port? What about another completely separate router (I have a Cisco ASA with some ports to spare, or a hint of irony, an another 6224!) to provide a connection between D and a networks normally used? This is crazy.

Of course, missing me something here. I can't believe that the answer is, 'If you enable routing, the management interface is essentially unusable"but that's what it looks like, from my possibly twisted point of view. I want to have my laptop computer and any other computer, sitting on a network that can be put to rout by the 6224, and for that same laptop also be able to reach this same 6224 management interface.

Someone please help me understand this?

    Thank you

    Chris

PS: I have an email address. It is almost unique on the entire planet. I use it to connect to this forum. But Dell, like so many others, insists on ignoring these facts and let me create an another unique identifier while playing a game of 20 questions. That's why my remarkably stupid random username.

Thanks again, and I hope that someone gets at least a good laugh over this.

Vlan management can be considered as a port OOB. If the intention is that it be separated from the rest of the traffic and on its own dedicated network. However, you are not limited to manage the switch through just the interface vlan management. Each VLAN with an IP address can be used by customers in this vlan to manage the switch.

For example, if you assign a VLAN 2 address and ip 192.168.2.1. Customers in VLAN 2 with and the 192.168.2.x subnet ip address can access 192.168.2.1 to manage the switch, while being able to communicate with clients in other VLANs.

I hope this helps some, let me know if you need help on your config, or to specify anything.

    Thank you

  • connect the m6220 switches stacked to existing Lan infrastructure

I need to connect two powerconnect M6220 to LAN infrastructure existing.

The switch of two are configured in the stack.

Which is the best way to uplink the new switch to the other two powerconnect 5548.

The old switch are not stacked and bound together by two 10GB Ethernet cable (one of the links is disabled).

I need to implement the network tolerant to failures, maybe I need to configure the tree covering weight on the two links of 10 GB.

I use Spanning tree to configure the uplink between the old and the new, too?

Is there a better alternative? There is another way to prevent the loop network?

    Thanks, Francesco

    You have a few options.

    1. you can simply connect the cables between the M6220 switch stack and the 5548.  Set up a trunk connection which allows for VLAN needed overall.  Tree covering weight until it is enabled on the switch and not off on specific ports connecting the default switches prevent loops and allow the most profitable link to be active, leaving the second connection as an alternative link in a blocking state.

    2. you can configure LAG (aggregation of links).  This is where you configure the individual physical ports in a virtual port channel.  This indicates a covering tree to treat multiple physical ports as a single link aggregated to the other switch.  You will need to have the port at each end of the connection channel mapping. (On each switch).  This allows the same speed but more flow.  To move traffic more.

When looking through the available MIB found in the zip file for download of the latest firmware.  I see that the MIB fastpathswitching mentions 'agentSwitchCpuProcessGroup '.

    MIB fastpathlogging has 'agentLogInMemoryConfigGroup '.

  • replacement for the vRA certificate error 7

Facing a problem when replacing the certificates on the web server of IaaS. I have replace the cert in the vRA device and I get the error "certificate with thumbprint {footprint of} not found in the store." I checked and the certificate was certainly added to the web server, IaaS. I even changed the binding of IIS on the web server to use the new certificate and that represented the process unit of vRA, and I got the same message.

    thumbprint_error.PNG

I worked with support about this and they did not even try to troubleshoot the update via the VAMI cert. They had me to do it manually using essentially the same steps as 6.2 (although there is a new URL) - http://pubs.vmware.com/vra-70/index.jsp#com.vmware.vrealize.automation.doc/GUID-91B9E89E-206B-4B1C-983D-D58A1CEDA7B4.html

I know that this does not really solve the root cause of the problem, but at least if you come across this thread, you will know how not to waste time trying to work through the VAMI.

    Update 09/07/2016

The link of vRA 7 above no longer works and I'm unable to find a replacement for vRA 7. However, the steps are the same as if documented for vRA 6 which can be found here: http://pubs.vmware.com/vra-62/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.vmware.vra.install.doc%2FGUID-91B9E89E-206B-4B1C-983D-D58A1CEDA7B4.html

  • Connect or Skype for business: a comparison

Asked to assess the possibility of using new Skype for business of Microsoft as a replacement for Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro. I use Connect for years, but I've never used Skype, Lynk, or this amalgam of new Microsoft including in their suite Office 365. Can someone give me advice on how they compare and contrast? What are the benefits of Connect? What are the disadvantages of Skype for business?

It can be a difficult comparison, and you probably won't find much out there. I would like to start with this, the Gartner report for essential capabilities for Web conferences, where all the important tools are compared. Essential for Web conferencing capabilities

From there on, I would say (as a user of Skype and Connect) are here where I see similarities and differences.

    Similarities:

    • They have the chat feature
    • Both can make VoIP audio
    • They both can track share (except the Windows version 8 Skype App may not)
    • Both can be used to share files, but how they do it is different
    • Both can record sessions

    Differences

    • Skype would require an installation for all users (Skype must be installed to use it)
    • Connect requires no installation (does not require a web browser and Flash 11.2 or newer to be installed that 98 + % of computers have installed)
    • Connect has more functions and the ability to create custom applications to run in a Connect meeting room
    • Skype is a good internal communitcations (IM) tool for businesses
    • Connect is a web collaboration tool good

I'm sure the list can grow, but ultimately my oppinon is that they are two applications that meet the needs of different companies. For the past 8 years, I used two tools, but not found any time where I didn't know what tool would be best for my needs. If I need to have a quick chat or conversation with a colleague, I would like to use Skype. If I needed to have an interactive session with someone, I would like to use Connect. Webinars, I would use Connect.

As an amateur, I think you should seriously consider any movement until the 2009 model or later. Same factor form except the processor and RAM are on a shelf at the bottom of the Cabinet.

They are faster because of some of the architecture changes, accept more RAM and still have the PCIe slots that allow you to add upgrades.
