  I need some specific technical information that I can't find anywhere on the net. Tecra model doesn't even exist on the Toshiba site. I'm french, and perhaps that is an exclusive model for the France or Europe.

  After putting in a large number of hours set up with ubuntu 8.10 it was great to work for a few months.

  This pretty old laptop is equipped with a limitation of LBA 28 bits. This means that you can use a HARD drive up to 128 GB s or let say a 120 GB HARD drive.

  Normally, you can choose each up to 120 GB HARD drive with IDE interface.
  Have what HDD 40 GB you tried? I have good experiences with Seagate and Hitachi hard drives.

• Equium A200-1V0: charger plugged freezes when starting laptop

  My satellite developed a strange absence of the module.

  When the laptop is connected to the charger it does not start. LEDs light up, keyboard blinks once and the screen is bright, but it is completely empty (no Toshiba logo, no bios, nothing).

  There is however no problem when I start the system on battery (charger unplagged). If I plug the charger at any time during the startup of the system it freezes immediately. It does not strike, the mouse pointer does not move and the blue lights are solid. However the battery LED turns orange. I get the answer only to keep the power button down for 4 seconds - how well be able to disable.

  When I restart the laptop on the battery then only Vista starts without problems.

  Does anyone have an idea, what could cause this problem, switch power supply, motherboard, charger? Is there an easy fix for this?

  Could you please say how Toshiba deposit would charge to fix it?

  Are you using the original Toshiba AC/DC adapter or is it a 3rd party charger?
  Can you charge the battery while the laptop is turned off?

  It is certainly a hardware malfunction, but either it s caused by AC/DC adapter itself or mainboard (load control).

  I put t know how much it cost to fix this problem, but just ask an authorized service provider. Guys you can make an offer how much it cost, and they must determine the laptop before determining what part needs to be replaced. ;)

  These technical manuals do you mean are not public you won't find one. As far as I know they available only authorized for service providers.

  But for cleaning a laptop you n t need a technical manual. You can use compressed air jet, because then you don't have to disassemble the laptop. Blow gently and little time depression of the air holes of the case of the machine where the hollow air flow. This could eliminate the dust from the cooling fans.
  I clean my cell phone every 3 months and I never had any problems with it.

• Satellite A200 - need driver for CD/DVD drive

  Hey people.

  Recently installed WXP Pro on my laptop A200 PSAEC, so I'm now in dual boot XP and Vista on my laptop.

  Problem is that I have all the drivers doesn't work on XP and everything works perfectly, but when I tried to burn a DVD, Nero said the recorder cannot burn DVDs. In 'My Computer', the drive shows up as a DVD - RW drive, but when I insert a blank DVD, it says CD drive. The drive shows up as "TCSDcor" CD/DVGW TC - L6 #2D "" in Device Manager. I searched a driver, but it is impossible to find an exact match for this drive and there is no driver optical drive on this section of driver from the Toshiba site. The only thing I found is an executable file of the firmware upgrade, but it throws an error saying that it is the wrong drive.

  Anyone got any ideas?

  You don't need a new driver for CD/DVD drive because it s a part of the operating system. So, you won't find one.

  I think you should try to remove the upper and lower filters in the registry. I did the same thing a few days ago, if I also had problems with my CD/DVD player and it worked for me! :)

• Satellite A200 - need utility Chipset for my own installation of Vista

  Bought a Satellite A200 - 23K in Russia. Try to install Vista with a clean to get the English disk. (The recovery disk that came with it won't let me install it in English, just guard install in Russian)

  OK, when I look at the file/driver download pages for my model (PSAE6E) there is no file listed chipset. There is one for Vista 64-bit and Windows XP, but not for Vista 32 bit. Which file to use, where to do it?

  Another topic, I would use the recovery disk to make your life easier. Is it possible to install in English? When it starts, it poses questions about the language or location, but everything I put there it loads just Russian. There is a file setenv.ini on the recovery disc that contains some language settings, which I'm tempted to change but I don't think he'll do good, as the operating system on the recovery disk looks like a series of images.

  Realized just install fresh in A200 WXP and the only device imminent in the 'Device Manager' to be installed are a 'Mass Storage Device' and not able to understand which driver download. Details refer to a PCI\VER, can anyone give a suggestion for what I forgot.

  Why, because this feature is only supported by Vista and so drivers XP don t exist.

  At the moment there is no help. I'll tell you why. To resolve this problem, you need to install the 'password utility"or"Utility supervisor password".   We are on Oracle 11.2.0.2 on Solaris 10. We need to be able to search on data that have diacritics and we should be able to make the serach ignoring this diacritical. That is the requirement. Now, I could hear that Oracle Text has a preference called BASIC_LEXER which can ignore diacritics and so only this feature I implemented Oracle Text and just for this DIACRITIC search and no other need.
  
  I mean I put up preferably like this:

  My need any only had to be able to do a search that ignores diacritical characters. To implement Oracle Text for this reason, I was wondering if it was the right choice! More when I find now that the functionality of the TYPE is not available in Oracle Text - Oracle text search are based on chips, or words, and they differ from the exit of the LIKE operator. So, maybe I just used a simple like function below and used that for my purpose instead of using Oracle Text:
  
  Just this feature (remove_dia) removes diacritical characters and maybe for my need is all what is needed. Can anyone help to revisit that given my need I better do not use Oracle text? I need to continue to use the feature of as operator and also need to bypass the diacritics so the simple function that I satisfied my need while Oracle Text causes a change in the behavior of search queries.

  If what you need is AS feature and you do not have one of the features of Oracle complex search text, then I would not use Oracle Text. I would create an index based on a function on your name column that uses your function that removes diacritical marks, so that your searches will be faster. Please see the demo below.

• Need charger for Camileo X 150

  Hello

  I seem to have lost my charger for my camcorder camelio. Can someone point me in the right direction from where I can get a replacement. It does not use a battery that's a lead charger that I plug. I am at a loss and not mind technique.

  You can use the supplied USB cable to attach the camcorder to your PC to charge the battery.
  Make sure that the camcorder is turned off during the loading
  Signalling lights flashing to confirm the loading
  When the accumulator is recharged, the led turns off.

  But if you want to order this AC adapter, I recommend you get some 3rd party adapters... I found a few deals on ebay.
