motor current by using NI USB-6009

Is there a way to measure current of a motor with the NI USB-6009 case? I understand that I must use I = V/R. But it seems that with this concept, I would have losses for the engine, so I used a small resistance and measure the voltage across it. I'm trying to get a reading of the Spike current with a voltage to an engine No. Thanks for the help.

-Nick

The shunt would be just to go online with the engine and measure the voltage drop across the resistance.

  • Read the motor current by using the controller PXI-7350 and MID-7604

I use the PXI-7350 controller and MID-7604 drive to run a motor drive.  I would like to be able to measure the motor current while moving the engines.  This measurement is possible?  If so, what commands are required to read the motor current?

    Hi Casey,.

the 7604 can limit the current to a value that is selectable by the user and you can activate the current reduction if the axis is stopped, but there is no way to read the current engine. If you want to measure the motor current, you must do it with an external device, but due to the current chopping and multiphase, motor control stepper motors is not a trivial task. Micro step mode the current phase looks like a rough sinus with lots of harmonics signal, so you will need to do a true measure requiring RMS of expensive measurement equipment.

Anyway. If you need to know the temperature of the motor you should better measure the temperature directly. The most inexpensive device OR do is the NI USB-TC01, but there are many other options available.

  • Recommend components for the plant of thumbnails that will be automated using NI USB-6009

I build a treatment for a University project and I'm looking for a few recommendations of components that work well with the NI USB-6009 case. Because of what is a project of the University, my budget is $ 100 and I need the following:

  • The best way to channel multiple steps using NI USB 6009?

I'm new to labview and I am trying to acquire multiple voltages of several channels and spread them out on a chart. It seems impossible to do it at the same time since the NI USB 6009 has only one pair of ADC.

The only way I ever came with is to use daq assistant to support significant tensions one by one and then make it loop awhile, but y at - it any delay during the move between channels?

And there at - it of best ways to acquire data from multiple channels?

If you have specified multiple channels (i.e. Dev1 / ai0:ai3) with a single DAQ Assistant, then this is the right method. The inexpensive device has no simultaneous inputs, so you will have to live with the slight delay of channel inter.

  • measure resistance with USB-6009

I am measuring the resistance of a photocell using the USB-6009 case. There is an option of "resistance" in the DAQ assistant, but it does not display the values on the right. Here's what I do:

    Connections: GND - photocell - ai0

I'm really not sure if this is right, but I assumed that he could measure the resistance as a multimeter. I have not tried doing a divisor of tension and using the Ohm's law.

DAQ Assistant settings: I 'add channel' by using the more blue and choose "resistance". Then, I chose ai0 under USB-6009. I set the max and min values and read it all the time. First problem, playback is generally negative and it flickers a lot. I read about - 1.3 k when I do that with a k resistor 10 regular (not a photoresistor)

Obviously there is something wrong, but I'm very new to all this and cannot figure it out by myself. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thank you!

The 6009 cannot measure the resistance as a multimeter unless you can prove that a current as the wizard by default source is set to. In itself, it can measure a voltage. Then, use a voltage divider.

  • acquisition of USB-6009 2 inputs

    Hello

I currently use a usb-6009 with labview 7.1 and DAQmx 8.1 to read the data in a file LVM to a sampling rate of 40 kHz.  Everything works perfectly when I read only one channel.  Problem is that I have to read 3 channels and when I put the DAQ assist to read 2 channels, max sampling rate is 24kHz, which is not enough for the problem.

Then, I thought I could handle by reading just one channel at a time at 40 kHz (with digital input to determine which channel).  Is this possible?  When I put in place DAQ assistant with more channels, I can't select a sampling rate of 40 kHz.  I know that you cannot open several DAQ assistant for analog inputs, so I tried to solve this problem by creating a main program with subroutines, each using a DAQ passes, but still got the error: "the specified resource is reserved. The operation could not be performed as indicated. ».

I tried to put in place without the DAQ Assistant, but had an error: specified is not valid or does not exist "(error code 200088) that seems to be a known an irreparable problem on labview 7.1." (also I guess I'm having the same error of the resource is reserved as I did in the DAQ assistant)

Is it possible that I can put in place a program to read an analog input to 40 kHz on a channel, and then switch to another channel and do the same thing?

    Thank you

    Herman

Of course, but you must stop and cancel the previous task before starting another. Obviously is that since you get this error.

  • Control digital I / O on USB-6009-OEM

    Hello.

    I use a USB-6009 OEM in a project I'm working on that.

And I have a quick question regarding controlling the i / O on the acquisition of data.

Currently, to be able to control each IO individually, I open a task for each e/s to the beginning of the program and make them go away in a cluster for later use.  But my VI of open task begins to grow significantly in size.  So I'm curious to know if it is really the best way to do it.  Open a task for each e/s, the only way to do it, if you want to be able to write on a PIN without messing with the values on the other pins on the port?

    BR,

    Øystein Johnsen.

    Hey Cath,

No, you need not read any port values.

You must keep track of them in your VI in storing the previous values in a shift register!

  • With the help of MAX to configure digital input levels on a USB-6009

    Hello

I use a USB-6009 box in a Windows environment. MAX allows me to configure the 8 bits in the port 0 as inputs or outputs. However, when I put the bits for all entries, their default level is high, and the "ALL LOW" button is grayed out. Is there a way I can turn this button to set the bits all low entry and therefore be configured to read a + 5V input pulse?

    Concerning

    Geoff Hammond

When you set up the pins as inputs, you can read 0 or 5 volts. It makes no sense to set then high or low. No PIN disconnected feel of course a logic 1 because of pull-ups on the device.

  • temperature sensor with the acquisition of data usb-6009

    Greeting

I want to use a sensor with usb-6009 to save the variation of body temperature about 15 minutes and then use these data in labview.

If you please you can advise me with the best low-cost use and the way/circuit sensor connect it to the usb-6009.

    Hi ba7soun,

If you can use with USB-6009 LM35 depends on the range of output voltage of the sensor. I understand that it requires a 5V supply with respect to the ground, which you can provide to the USB-6009 (more than 200 my should not come from the USB-6009).

The maximum range of the USB-6009 is - 10V to + 10V, while the minimum range is - 1V to + 1V, also probably the output signal of the LM35 will be in this range. What you need to do is to compare the full range of the output signal with the range of the DAQ divided by 2exp (14) (because it is a 14 bit ADC) and ensure that the first is much more than the latter.

    Kind regards

    Condette Dhruv.

  • USB-6009 has stopped working.

    Hi all

I used a usb 6009 to turn on or turn off a transistor when two digital signals have been read on pins 0,0 and 0,1. 6009 usb has now stopped working and is not flashing or showing up on top of my laptop or other computers. + 5 volts pin has been accidentally connected to a fraction of a second by an another 5 volts of power fed 220mA, would it have damaged the device? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks again for your help. I received a reply from the technical team on a cost for repair so I can see what the boss says.

    Thanks again.

  • gel USB-6009

    Hi all

When you use the USB-6009 interface for reading of two sensors (temperature and pressure, using the voltage they generate) and send signals to the valves, my program continues to run.

But after a while the USB module breaks down.

Most of the time the two inputs and outputs do not seem to work. I get no error, it no longer works. When I remove the USB device and then reinsert it into the USB port, it still works perfectly

FYI (it happened once or twice the output still worked, but I had no input devices.)

Someone at - it similar problems or know how to fix this problem?

    Thank you in advance.

    Kind regards

    Bart

Try Max running for awhile. This will indicate if there is a systemic problem or not. Another problem is that if you use a USB hub. Sometimes they cling and cause the problem. Seems TO prefer the connection between the direct computer and not by hubs.

Please submit your question in the Forums of NOR. Are you trying to take a differential measurement? What features are you try to measure it and what channels the drop-resistance work with and what channels do they not work with?

  • Why is the selection of the mode disabled in max for NIDAQ-USB-6009?

I try to use NOR-USB-6009 AO to generate the sinusoidal signal.

    (1) I want to use MAX, but the selection of the mode and frequency are all disabled in the "Analog output" section

    (2) I find a VB example to generate the sine wave, but I received an error message.

I want to know if the OR-6009 function support limited or not...?

    The attachment includes the screenshot.

    Thank you very much!

    Kevin

    Kevin,

Yes. Timed software means that the appliance has no internal clock or the buffer. You call the AO write with data point. Then you call AO write later with another data point. Repeat until cooked. This means that the maximum rate of update of the AO is approximately 100 hertz or a little faster. It also means that there is a lot of jitter of synchronization due to latencies of the OS at speeds like that.

Think about AO on the USB-6009 case as a parameter Variant sometimes of continuous tension for your system.
