  The GPU has almost nothing to do with improving the performance in After Effects.

  Spend your money on CPU, RAM and a fast SSD before you even consider spending money on a GPU so performance in After Effects is your concern.

  I understand that you have installed the driver and it works fine.  When you checked the diagnostics you became confused because it says graphic R5 but you R7.

  According to the specifications of your laptop you have AMD Quad - Core A8 - 6410 APU with graphics Radeon R5 (2 GHz, 2 MB cache).

  Here is a link to the 17-f002sm HP Pavilion Notebook product specifications to confirm this information. I hope that this eliminates any confusion.

  For 4 k you will need a video card with at least 4 GB of ram.  In your price range, take a look at the video card GTX 770.  It should work as well with your games.

  Nope... but... all I can do is give you my experience. I got a G5 liquid that had major failure 3 times (was under AppleCare) and has been replaced with a Mac pro. I guess you have tried the usual, killer stuff pram resetting the PMU, trying to reinstall and update the operating system and various applications to this topic and all that, and... nothing. Apple does not read or respond to these forums, cmdrDenis, this place is strictly a user forum, and that's all. Save all your receipts, paperwork, document as much as you can and when you talk to Apple or an adviser, be polite, but pragmatic.  Screaming, yelling, Ranting and raving you will get very far.  If you go to apple.com/feedback and leave a comment there, someone can get back to you. Call the main line from Apple can be useful too, but about what, when and how

  I can't say.   I have a laptop Equium A60, recently I am getting error informing messages than the "display driver ATi2mtag has stopped working properly.
  I have reset my machine as told to do the error dialog box. Reset works fine, but the laptop crashes to the desktop, when turned off and on again once I get the Safe Mode screen.

  I reinstalled the driver for the graphics card several times, and the error persists through safe mode. The returned error and trying to open in safe mode, the machine flashed a blue screen of death, too fast for me to read, even applied for each of the available options. I was unable to cross this safe mode selection screen.

  As a last resort that I reformatted my laptop, using the Toshiba CD recover but the error persists, with regular driver display and the actual machine crashed.

  Since the reformat, I reinstalled the display drivers, and the problem persists.

  I downloaded the drivers from this site and the problem is still there

  You know a possible fix or solution to this problem? I am a competent enough and user of computer knowledge, so do not be afraid of getting technical in your response.

  If this issue occurs after a several time of use, so it could be an overheating problem.
  In this case, you should check the cooling modules. Check if the fans are working properly.
  Try to clean it with the vacuum cleaner.

  Surprisingly, I solved the problem by installing the latest version of the driver for Intel HD 5500.

  Now, two graphics cards work fine.

  Hi, I recently bought a new graphics card for my computer trying to install it, with the new card, that I can't in front of the screen of the bios at startup. I don't know much about computers, but am guessing it's a compatibility issue with some of my hardware.   I have a dell studio 540 with geforce 9800gt graphics card. When I connect the hdmi sometimes I hear, but after awhile, the sound does not work. Now I have no sound at all. When I hooked the HDMI first, I found a realtek window asking me to activate the sound via hdmi. I find it anymore this window. I can't get the sound to work at all now.  I even tried to use 3.5 mm with hdmi and got nothing. 3.5 worked when I plugged in the vga to tv cable, but the picture quality was awful. How will I know if my card grphx carries sound?

  I need advice on a good new graphics card for iMac 27 inch end 2012. My work is mainly in animation, Visual effects and game development soon, so I need an additional card to increase my speed.

  Currently, I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB card. Do you think I should stick to a similar card? Is there something new that will offer me better performance at an affordable cost?

  I don't have much money to spend, but I can certainly use additional graphics now.

  I have also 2 remaining memory locations that accepts DDR3 1600 MHz memory module, but it seems that this module is no longer available. If I had to choose between a graphics card and RAM, which should I go with?

  Finally, can I install these myself? I don't have any Apple Store around me and I do not trust the computer guys in my area.

  First of all, the iMacs are notoriously difficult to make something with except add RAM. Here is a good site where you can get some info on the dismantling, etc.:

  Usually, graphics cards should be replaced with the same model/type of work (if any) - see above site for this kind of info. I'm quite sure that you cannot add just one - iMac is not designed for it.

  Regarding the RAM, just check out OWC for necessary RAM:

  Check that your model is listed. I don't know where you would have been told that the RAM is no longer available (FWIW, Apple does not sell RAM and uses of third party RAM in the new Macs).

  I'd go with the RAM - how many do you have now? Adding RAM is easy.
