a6317c HP with windows 7 is installed
installed a second hard drive, it shows on the System Device Manager, but not on my computer
Hello
You create a partition and format the hard drive?
Click the Windows Orb and type in disk management in the search programs and files box type in disk management. Click on the hard-create and format disk partitions.
Find your new drive, click it to select it and then right click on it to optional operations. You can see which drive is activated by the presence of diagonal lines. If it doesn't have a drive letter, contains no partitions and is not formatted, then that's why he can't see in Windows Explorer. You may also need to select Create a simple volume. Do not create a dynamic volume you could cause problems down the road.
If you have any question over all what you need to do is post them here.
Best regards
ERICO

(Redirected) How to buy an Alienware with Windows 7 Pre - installed 17!
I live in England and I need to buy an Alienware 17 High Spec model with Windows 7 Pre - installed.
There might be a straight forward application but is not only everything I keep being told its only available with 8.1 is o/s.
I checked on the web site of the United Kingdom and there under the heading:-features & Design
Available with Windows 7 Home Premium - for a smooth and flexible PC experience.
Can someone please confirm that this computer is available with 7 o/s or it is not can you please remove the ad as its very confusing.
In reading the other topics on this forum its very clear that this is not a simple re install with 7 o/s and not the kind of thing you do when you buy a new computer.
This computer is not for domestic use and is to be used on board the ship have been around computers run 7 o/s.
Thanks a lot for reading

I just bought a new laptop with Windows 8 is installed. When I try to install my printer, I get an error saying that there is no driver. Where can I download a driver for this printer and the OS from?
Also, where can I find a list of compatible printers?

Thank you very much for your reply and I contact sales in the States and it is possible for me to buy a MX 17 or 18, but it must be shipped to an address in the States. It's ok since we do not have an office in Seattle.
However, as it must then be sent reports to the United Kingdom this means I would pay extra delivery customs cost plus so it would not be worth extra costs involved. For the only options that I can see who is available to me buy a non Dell machine or buy a used machine, on Ebay with low spec with windows 7 installed, or the purchase of a UK machine then installing windows 7 Professional our me however, I understand it's not a simple as that.
I thought it would be a right task replacing one of the computers on our ships, but its clear sound far right forward, why is the possibility to buy the o/s 7 available only to States.

If I buy one on lab with windows 7 installed what I buy windows7 to update my computor House or I can do it for free
original title: update vistaIf you buy windows 7 preinstalled, it can only be used in the computer. If you want to install 7 on your computer, you will need to purchase a license upgrade (I think Home Premium 120 USD.)

I have a laptop with Windows 7 Professional older and want to keep my programs and files intact and transfer to a new laptop, with Windows 7 Home, pre-installed.
First try the image restore option. If that does not work, use your professional Windows 7 disc and boot from it, delete all partitions, then attempt to restore image.
Don't forget: save your Home Premium installation before doing any of this.

Bought computer with Windows 7 pre-installed
I recently bought a gateway desktop computer and it is installed with Windows 7. My question is that the CD (operating system) for Windows 7 was not the case in the area. Is this normal? Get a copy of Windows 7 just in case I need to reformat my computer in the future?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Your computer may have a Partition 'restore' and that could be the reason why you don't have a DVD.
Check the owners/users manual or call Support technique Gateway.

OK, so I was about to buy a laptop, I really wanted to for the last few months. But yesterday, my father told me about windows 8 and that it would be better to wait until it comes out to get a laptop with her already pre-installed. I found the offer of $15.00 for the upgrade to windows 8, plus I also get the great back to school discounts. My father always tells me that it is much better to do it with it already installed... -Is this worth the wait?

Hello
I would recommend you take advantage of the offer of discounts for Windows 8.
Normally, it would be better to buy a computer with the latest version of Windows pre-installed because the computer could be certified to run the pre-installed operationg system.
However, in this case, all the computers that are available with the upgrade of $15 are all designed to run the final version of Windows 8.

Original title: Win7 Pro + HD Ext different OS
I just installed a new hard drive in my laptop with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.
Would it not be possible to install WIn XP or Win 98 + older software (Win 98 or XP) on an external hard drive, then plug it into USB, laptop, in order to run old programs of 16-32 bit?It would be best to run Windows 98 or XP in a Virtual Machine, if you need to run older programs.
You can use a free software such as Oracle VirtualBox or VMware Player:

I recently bought a new computer. It was announced to come with Windows 7 Pro and Windows 8 Pro. Since the announcement, I assumed that it would be implemented for a dual-boot (something that I have never made or used it before).
In another section of this community, I have posted a question, "what happens first – the chicken or the Egg," asking if I would like to transfer my data and applications before that upgrade to Windows 8 or after. I received responses almost half a dozen all recommend that I transferred my files prior to upgrade. With the new software of practice by hand and using a cable standard CAT5, I transferred all my files, including data and most of my applications, my old computer to the new computer. The transfer takes about six hours and I had about an hour of work later to install my pst, BOINC, Malwarebytes, etc..
I decided that today would be the day and I would upgrade to Windows 8. There are three disks to:
1. the claims & recovery of pilots
2. system recovery disk for operating
3 supplemental Recovery Disc
However, when reading the attached brochure, there is a warning very clear that if I use these discs, I lose all my apps and data and will have to start from scratch. In many previous editions of Windows, I remember using upgrade disks. Recovery disks were what I did when I first installed the new computer.
So, I ask, this is the only way I can achieve this? Am I condemned to throw seven hours of work? Y there is a place, less painful alternatives?
Thank you
Steve
Unfortunately, this is how the work of recovery discs, they do not operate like retail disk that will give you the ability to dual boot.
Your options are limited.

How to partition a new laptop with Windows 8 is installed?
I just bought a Sony Vaio with Windows preinstalled 8 and I want to have 2 partitions on the hard drive. How can I make a new partition? I need to format and reinstall Windows 8? Because I have no CD with drivers.
Do not touch the recovery Partition! (If this thing ever go belly, use you the recovery Partition to restore your PC to factory conditions).
Yes, according to the instructions contained in the bonds shrink & create a new partition.
You do whereas the W8 is running, if you follow the instructions that you should have no problem.
I use this method on a regular and reasonable and have never had any problems.
Have confidence in your actions!

Issues with Windows 7 clean install
HP Pavilion dv7-1135nr
I would like to do a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate x 64 on my laptop. With the clean install, that I would like to delete the recovery partition and re-create it with the base installation of Windows 7 Ultimate x 64. My recovery partition contains files image/install Window Vista Home Premium x 64 originals and the drivers? My goal is to have a fresh install / clean x 64 and Windows 7 Ultimate partition recovery, as if he had this direct way of HP.
You wouldn't be able to recreate the recovery to support Windows 7 partition. I would either leave intact or first do the recovery disks, then delete. You may need these if you ever go back to Windows Vista.
