About journal apply to standby

Hi all

I have configured DG - physical standby with RMAN DUPLICATE FROM ACTIVE Windows on the same host (laptop) DATABASE.

Something happened and my laptop has rebooted on its own... the question here is when I check the log apply waiting, it seems that the archivelogs 1 or more are not applied...

On the primary and the standby, you have configured FRA, then appropriate it must be set in the primary and standby databases log_archive_dest_1.

Elementary school:

*. Log_archive_dest_1 = 'LOCATION = E:\app\syed\oradata\orcl\ VALID_FOR =(ALL_LOGFILES,ALL_ROLES) DB_UNIQUE_NAME = orcl'

Set it as:

* .log_archive_dest_1 = "LOCATION = use_db_recovery_file_dest VALID_FOR =(ALL_LOGFILES,ALL_ROLES) DB_UNIQUE_NAME = orcl'"

In standby mode, you have wrongly set log_archive_dest_1 whose unique db name pointing to primary:

*. Log_archive_dest_1 = 'LOCATION = E:\app\syed\oradata\duporcl\ VALID_FOR =(ALL_LOGFILES,ALL_ROLES) DB_UNIQUE_NAME = orcl'

You must set as:

* .log_archive_dest_1 = "LOCATION = use_db_recovery_file_dest VALID_FOR =(ALL_LOGFILES,ALL_ROLES) DB_UNIQUE_NAME =duporcl'"

    Hello again;

    Do you think if I tried to repeat the duplicate?

    Yes I think you should do this.

    Give me a few minutes and I'll review my Word document and provide here an overview step by step as insurance.

    I always clean the day before before trying another dup

    OVERVIEW

    Step 1 - password file FRO sleep - the primary copy and rename
    Step 2 - On the remote server Directory Structure - Make sure noting is missing
    Step 3 - Oracle Net Setup - entered for the CLONE in your TNSNAMES file. ORA on both servers
    Step 4 - Adding SID_LIST_LISTENER (guess named listener LISTENER)
    Step 5 - located in listener.ora and sqlnet.ora both servers wait times
    Step 6 - settings of the auxiliary Instance initialization file
    Step 7 - Set SID of the auxiliary Instance
    Step 8 - create a SPFILE to the new database using a file with the INIT parameters pfile
    Step 9 - shutdown and startup nomount on new Spfile (auxiliary Instance)
    Step 10 - Start RMAN and run the command DUPLICATE

    SID_LIST_LISTENER example of mine

    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
       (SID_LIST =
           (SID_DESC =
           (SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)
           (ORACLE_HOME = /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.2)
           (PROGRAM = extproc)
         )
           (SID_DESC =
           (global_dbname = CLONE.hostname)
           (ORACLE_HOME = /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.2)
           (sid_name = CLONE)
       )
    )

    Avoid delays

    Add these to both servers

    To listener.ora
    INBOUND_CONNECT_TIMEOUT_ = 120

    To sqlnet.ora
    SQLNET.INBOUND_CONNECT_TIMEOUT = 120

    Then stop and start the listener.

    RMAN

    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/rman target=sys/@primary auxiliary=sys/@standby

    Connect should return something like this

    connected to target database: RECOVER9 (DBID=3806912436)
    connected to auxiliary database: CLONE (not mounted)

    RMAN > current database of target duplicate for the eve of the database NOFILENAMECHECK.

    INIT Extras

    In order to avoid the ORA-09925 do of course the PFILE core_dump_dest value and audit_file_dest a file

  • How to move from Data Guard time really apply (restore) to archive the journal

    Hello

    Standby database configured with broker and application really remake in time; However, I want to change it to archive the journal apply mode without losing the broker configuration. Is this possible? If it is not possible to use the broker to make archive log apply, I can remove the broker and use Data Guard to set up the day before to use the archive log apply?

    Concerning

    Hello;

    Broker automatically allows real-time applies to databases on hold if the standby database has standby redo logs configured.

    Stop repeat applies

    DGMGRL> EDIT DATABASE 'PRIMARY' SET STATE='APPLY-OFF';

    Repeat restart applies broker

    DGMGRL> EDIT DATABASE 'PRIMARY' SET STATE='APPLY-ON';

    In order to get rid of standby redo logs would be a way. I would like to leave myself alone. Real time assistance to prevent the loss of data.

  • How to recover missing the mounting point on the standby server

    Environment: Oracle 11.2.0.3 EE on Solaris

    I have a Production database with a physical standby created and run in our remote data center and this configuration worked well for several years.

    Recently, I had 2 two new mount points, added to the Production Server but unfortunately do not have their created on the standby server.  I did not remapped mounting points, so the layout is identical between the Production and standby.  At least it was.

    I created several new data files on the Production Server using the new mount points.

    Once I realized my mistake, I had additional mounting points created on the standby server.

    I STANDBY_FILE_MANAGEMENT = AUTO on the day before, but obviously the new data file was not created since mount points were not available when they were added in the Production.

    Without the mount points and therefore the new data files, on the eve, archive logs are not applied on the day before.  There are currently about 150 newspapers that must be applied.

    Question: Can I copy the files of existing data from the Production Server to the standby server and Data Guard will know which archives newspapers must be applied to standby data files to bring them current with the files of Production data?

    If this is not the case, how can I get the new data files created on the eve and a return to synchronization with the Production?

    Thanks a lot for your help!

    -gary

    Once the mount points are created on the eve, manually resume the managed recovery. The day before would have abandoned managed recovery so you don't have to make it work again. The transaction that has been reproduced that requires mount points should not proceed. Given enough time, the wait will catch up to where it should be. If it's not fast enough, then use RMAN to roll forward the day before as indicated in a previous answer.

    > Can I copy the existing data files on the Production Server to the standby server

    N ° you can not do this.

    See you soon,.

  • How standby database works

    Hello!!

    I created the database (testcat) pending for the primary database (test) using the command RMAN duplicate on the same server (windows XP) on Oracle 11.2. I know how to create the standby database but I don't know how and when Eve database works. I checked the file init.ora backup of database that contains all parameters prefixed to *. as follows

    * .db_create_file_dest = "F:\app\Administrator\oradata".

    * .db_domain = "

    * .db_recovery_file_dest = "F:\app\Administrator\flash_recovery_area".

    * .db_recovery_file_dest_size = 10737418240

    * .db_unique_name = "testcat".

    *. Db_name = 'test '.

    * .control_files = 'D:\APP\ORACLE\ORADATA\TESTCAT\CONTROLFILE\CONTROL_STAND1. CTL "

    While the primary database init.ora file contains entries like

    db_create_file_dest = F:\app\Administrator\oradata

    db_recovery_file_dest = F:\app\Administrator\flash_recovery_area

    db_recovery_file_dest_size = 4039114752

    control_files = 'F:\APP\ADMINISTRATOR\ORADATA\TEST\CONTROLFILE\O1_MF_8TXW6QN0_. CTL.

    So I want to know is

    1. What IS the difference between the settings that start with. * and start without. *

    2. can I set db_create_file_dest parameter in init.ora backup of database to another location.

    3. how to make journal apply to the standby database when I run ALTER DATABASE RECOVER... command

    4. where log files archived on eve of the databases will be stored?

    Hello

    You mean there are two types of transport for recovery logs.

    ((1) ASYNC 2) SYNC.

    1. If the transport type is ASYNC what background process will perform redo transport?

    LNS background process

    2. If the transport type is SYNC then what background process will perform redo transport?

    If version<11.2.0.3 then="" lns="" ,="" else="">

    3. is there a difference between ASYNC and SYNC?

    SYNC required for the Protection of Max and MAX availability Modes, ASYNC held a Max performance.

    4. According to your first post, RFS receives (which exist in standby mode) repeat primary and MRP applies it again then what is the role of SRL, LGWR - LNS, GAP?

    SRL required for demand in time real process and Max Protection and availability modes Max.

    When the GAP occurs, not transported logs archived corrupted or deleted on the side of priamry.

    Hello;

    If RMAN tries to remove an archive which is not yet applied in standby log, you see the RMAN-08120

    It's a good thing. As long as you don't have any archives for days on standby, you probably don't have a problem.

    What are your RMAN settings for the database of the day before?

    MetaLink Note: 361182.1 can help too. Or Note 1079953.1

    Your main, make sure that:

  • newspapers are not get applied to the eve of the database

    Hi guys,.

    I installed oracle 10g R2 on RHEL5. I also created a database of watch on the same host at the elementary level.

    now everything works fine, but when I checked if archived logs is applies or not, I found that no newspaper use.

    When I researched this error it is said that this online journal is corrupted, install the new version or reset the logs.

    I have reset logs on the primary database after incomplete recovery.

    I just want to know that if I reset primary newspapers should I recreate the standby database recovery logs?

    coz it generates the same error.

    What is the solution?
    Thanks and greetings

    not only you must create redologs Eve but must also create a new standby controlfile.

  • Firefox 9.0.1 "apply the update"? I can't get Firefox 9.0.1 to install and be usable by the other account on our desktop. as the administrator that the update is installed, other user accounts cannot get beyone 'Apply Update' - what is happening?

    Sorry for the long question. The issue is that totally impossible to install Firefox 9.0.1, so it can be used by the two user accounts on this desktop computer. I tried several times to download the update and install when running the second user account. It does not seem to install - page 'About' Watch 'Apply Update' - which then seems to do nothing. When I go to the primary account user Firefox is fully installed and functional.

    If files have already been downloaded, then delete the files in the folder of updates\0 and updates or you need to run Firefox once as administrator on each account where the files for the update has been downloaded.

    You can also remove active - update.xml, or even updates.xml (stores the history of update).

    C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates
    (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox)

    The "Application Data" in XP/Win2K folder and the folder "AppData" in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders.

  • My computer has re boots itself after that it was off for about 5 minutes

    Whenever I turn on my pc it has re boots itself after about 5 minutes, the standby icon is not highlighted more either.  Can anyone help?

    Do you mean that when you turn off your PC, it will turn on again automatically?

    I suggest you run a complete scan with:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

    So what that it either detects and remove them.

    Also check your BIOS setting, this is one of the keys F (F1... F12), during startup it will say that one is it or you might have a look at your PC guide (it's different in each system depend on the model of BIOS) and check if it is set to start.

  • How to set up a database of Eve 'apply in real time '.

    Hi all

    11 GR 2,

    Rhel6

    How to set up real-time apply such as the transactions are updated in near real-time to the wait, even without switching to log files?

    For example, we have 1 GB size redo logs and assuming that it will take 1 day to fill these newspapers. This means that our expectation will be entitled to 1 day delay of data?

    This means we lost 1 day of a disaster at the primary data value? because the redo log was not able to move the log files?

    Thank you very much

    JC

    Hello

    Hope this helps

    Real time apply ---> all committed changes should have been applied in standby mode

    How to:

    standby mode

    SQL > alter database recover managed standby undo;

    SQL > change managed database recovery ensures assistance to disconnect log current;        --> You should have SRL and this command works up to 11g, 12 c apply by default start with real time

    At the primary level: check the recovery mode:

    SELECT DEST_ID, RECOVERY_MODE FROM V$ ARCHIVE_DEST_STATUS WHERE DEST_ID = 2;

    Read only apply with--> is called as--> ACTIVE DATA GUARD redo apply when the database is open read-only

    standby mode

    SQL > alter database recover managed standby undo;

    SQL > alter database open read-only.

    SQL > change managed database recovery ensures assistance to disconnect log current;        --> You should have SRL and this command works up to 11g, 12 c apply by default start with real time

    SQL > select name, open_mode, controlfile_type, db_unique_name from v$ database;

  • Redolog files to physical standby standby in 11g

    Hi all

    Configure a physical in 11 g standby database on Linux.

    My first question is, Create SRL (Standby Redo Logs)-

    Is - mandatory to set up physical standby?

    If I create SRL , what would be the advantage for the installation of DR?

    If I ignore it, what would be the downside for the installation of DR?

    Hello;

    Laughing out loud

    But it is a good idea.

    If your database pending is in maximum protection or maximum availability mode you need.

    If you use Real Time apply on Standby Database you need.

    If you use cascading Destinations you need.

    If you create both primary and Standby you pass quickly without additional measures or issue.

    Redo Eve can also buffer it again entering.

  • Removal of archives on Standby and primary

    My scenario:

    RDBMS 11.2.0.3

    I want to put this, but some input from you guys.

    RMAN delete on primary policy: CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO NONE;

    RMAN delete pending policy: CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY to APPLIED on STANDBY BACKED UP 1 TIME FOR 'SBT_TAPE ';

    Rman backups are taken on the strip of the main server instead of the day before. and I wanted to know if it's the best way to avoid to get the archive deleted before sent and deleted once applied on the Stanby site.

    Hello;

    N ° if you take backups on the primary then I would change the DELETION STRATEGY on letter waiting.

    CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO APPLIED ON STANDBY;

    CONFIGURE THE NONE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY;

    Or use this

    Remove the Archivelogs applied on the physics of the standby database
