Access denied on the opening controls

Trying to enter the recommended such command in Windows Update error 80246005 error handling to allow writing to the Catroot2 folder, I get the message "Access denied to c:\windows\system32\catroot2", even thougn, I am the administrator.
This folder is write - protected, and I'm not able to change this attribute.
So how to enter the command or access privilege?
Thank you

Try to start your system from a "Live Linux" CD free.  This CD runs a version of Linux without installing anything on your hard drive.  To create the CD, you download a file ".iso" and feature "Burn Image" of your CD burner to create a bootable CD.  The advantage, that you win, is that Linux is a lot less strict with permissions, so you should be able to access your files and copy them to a USB device.  Some Linux Live CD are:
    Knoppix: <> http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html >
    Ubuntu: <> http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/try-ubuntu-before-you-install >
Ubuntu is actually an installation disc, so be very careful to follow the 'Try Me' instructions so that don't accidentally install you it on your hard drive.

An another boot CD, you might try is "Hiren".  It is in fact a version of "First environment" of Windows XP, so you could get access to some files that you would otherwise not not when starting on this disc.

I found a few other questions on this forum who have remained unanswered.   I found a site citing the problem for drive X - I use XI.

Change to drive XI.   Perhaps the reader at the library had this as its default setting.

    1. In Adobe Reader, clear the check box enable the Mode protected at startup :

      • If you have a PDF open, right-click the document, and then click Page Display Preferences.
      • If you open Adobe Reader from the shortcut, click on Edit > Preferences.
    2. In the categories dialog box Preferences pane, click (enhanced) protection, and then clear the box enable the Mode protected at startup .
    3. Close and reopen Reader.

I have no idea if that setting has been changed in my XI player since I used this version exactly one year ago.

  • I get an error, access denied to the C:\Users\myuser\AppData\Local\Temp

Original title: access denied to the C:\Users\myuser\AppData\Local\Temp

    Hello

I have a problem with the Windows 7 C:\Users\myuser\AppData\Local\Temp temp folder. Sort randomly, I lose access to this folder, in the sense that if I open a cmd terminal and I try to cd to that folder, it gives an access denied error (at least that I start cmd as administrator). I noticed in the list of permissions on this folder does not appear the SYSTEM. I read somewhere that this is the problem, so I added back, and then it worked. Unfortunately it disappears every day the list of permissions, and I have to put in place every day which is annoying. Do you know what could cause this problem? How can I see which changes these permissions?

    Hi Razvan,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community

According the information you have provided, I understand that you found error access denied when using certain commands to the command prompt. I will certainly help you in this matter.

    1. have you logged as administrator?

    2. do you have an antivirus software installed?

Some commands that you run at a command prompt, you need the administrative privileges for the good functioning of Windows.

Windows Update forum is one of the three forums that doesn't have different forums for different versions of Windows (Internet Explorer and the game are the others).  With this in mind, we ask that you postat LEAST the following information.  If you don't know how to find some of the information and then post what you can and let us know that you need help to find information.

    Minimum information to validate:
Version of Windows and Service pack level. (Windows XP Home Edition, SP3; Vista Home Premium, SP1; Windows 7 Ultimate, etc...)
Post also if you use 32-bit or the 64 bit version of Windows.

Update the number of the last update installed before any problem.  If you do not know the number of update, then give the date that the update has been installed.  The number of updates update failed.

Error code updates failed or if you think an update caused a blue screen, give the blue screen error codes.

    Other information to validate:
Measures already taken to correct the problem and the results of the measures.

If the question is never happened before with other updates.

A few other useful parts are:
What program antivirus you use, if it is up-to-date, and there has never been any other installed antivirus program.
If your version of Windows has been upgraded from a previous version or if it came with (or clean installed with) the version you are currently using.

    Having a strange problem.

I just installed CS 5.5 and got one of my sites all over the place. I can connect to my remote server very well and download to any directory other than the root?

If I do, then I get this error (see below). This happens only when I try and put the files at the root, don't know why. I tried all the little things like:

I can use any other FTP program and I can not put the files in the ROOT, so it's just a thing of dreamweaver 5.5. I also tried my Dreamweaver CS3 on my old mac and it works like a charm!

  • Try to open certain files, get "Access denied" on the owner user account

Windows 7 computer lists me (Walt) as has permission to read/write to certain folders & files.  It also lists system and owner as having this authoirity.  It worries me that Walt and owner are indicated separately, when they actually have to be the same entity, but maybe it's normal.  Anyway, Win 7 won't let me open certain folders such as Documents & settings fokder ("Access denied" message).  How can I fix it?  I wouldn't 'Access denied' to all the folders or files on my own computer.

    Hi, Walt

Many of default folders that didn't exist not in Windows XP have had changes of name starting with Windows Vista.

With the icon of the shortcut folders are symlinks or junctions (AKA: flexible links or Points). They are there for compatibility with older programs that are hard coded to look for these old folder names when the former program is installed.

These files have special properties that take the old Installer to the new location in Windows 7. This allows the program to install and works under Windows 7, seamlessly.

A good example is the C:\Documents and Settings folder. This file has been used in previous versions (XP) to store all the files of the users. When an older program that was written for XP is installed, the junction called Documents and Settings will be redirect this installer to the new location in Windows 7, which is the folder C:\Users.

Because they are very important to the operation of Windows 7, they have all of the properties, everyone = access is denied.

A junction can be used as a normal file, they contain all the files or data. If security for a junction properties are changed, this can cause a long list of very difficult problems, including the need to reinstall the operating system to recover.

There are a lot of these flexible connections in Windows 7.

Windows has supported the use of hubs for a long time, but they were not used extensively until Windows Vista.

It is recommended that the user does not change the properties of these files, as this may cause some programs stop working or other behavior that can lead to more serious problems.

Try the following steps in order to set the permission to the folders

    1. right click on the file or folder and then click Properties.

    2. click on the tab security.

    3. under group or user names, click your name to see the permissions you have.

If you don't get permission, take ownership of the folder and check if it helps.

To take ownership of a folder, follow these steps:

    1. right click on the folder you want to take control and then click on Properties.

    2. click on the Security tab, click Advanced, and then click the owner tab.

  • Access denied to the program - Windows 7

I installed a program that worked on Windows 7 before and he was met by security and everything. Now, whenever I try to open it, the computer refuse me access to use the program. • Access denied to the Admin for the seemingly random folders, folder modified permissions does not work

I created a clean installation of Windows Pro 8.1

There is only one user, who is also the administrator

The tree of the default folders under My Documents (my music, my videos...) has apparently randomly locked access to 'user' / admin.

For example, if I look under C:\Users\"the a user"\Documents, it opens fine.

    C:\Users\"the a user"\Documents\My Media, it opens fine.

C:\Users\"the a user" \Documents\My photos and I get "you not currently have permission to access this folder.

If I try to change by right-clicking the locked folder security settings, I see "a user", administrators and System have all allow for anything but special permissions.

A user called everyone has only marked as Deny authorization.  Nothing else scored.

The same goes for any folder that I'm locked.

Any folder that I can access does not even own the Everyone user.

I read a LOT of pages and articles on the web on change permissions.  None of them work because when I get to the point where I can try and change the permission to everyone, the option to do so is always locked.  Its as if for some records I'm seen as a non-admin, so no change is possible.

For any folder that I can access, I can change and rearrange any permission I want.

If I opened Control Panel under user accounts, there is not anyone listed, it's just the "a user."

    Any suggestions?

    Hello

On my machine of a user C:\Users\"the" \Documents\My photos you mention would be a hidden folder...

I think that there is a residual folder of XP, my images no longer located in My Documents...

"My photos is now directly in the C:\Users\"the a user "folder that you used in your example...

If you really want to have access to another, you can try just by removing the "everyone"

Or... you can click on the options at the bottom of the permissions and actually change the ownership of the folder... I don't know if I would mess with that if.

  • Error message "Access denied" on the sharing of files and folders on a dual-boot computer.

    I have a Dual Boot PC - the two Windows 7 Home Premium - one 32-bit, 64-bit.

If I try to access files created in the 32-bit system to the 64-bit system, I get "Access Denied" errors. This is extremely annoying as its my PC, my data, my everything!

The only way to solve the problem seems to be to give all permissions to "Everyone", but then I get my parcel Internet Security complain bitterly that my PC is now open to piracy because I gave "Everyone" full access permissions.

I searched the Web and Microsoft, but I never seem to find exactly what I'm looking for; part of my search text seems to have more weight than another. For example, I add "in the system to dual-boot" and I get links to creating a dual boot system.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to grant permissions to access 32-bit system folder to the main user on the 64 bit system, I would be very grateful.

    Thank you very much.
