Access to netbios name server

Device users access the content share on the file with the name of the server server has failed with an error (\\serverhame is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. The remote procedure call failed and did not run) in quantity of users more than 11 terminals. At the same time, they can access other servers by the name for stocks. It is not a problem with RDP or DNS license.

  • OSB security: limiting access to a name server or IP service

    Hi all

We are in the process of setting up security for our VSOS, and one of the things that we want to do is to restrict access to the proxy service according to the user name used for authentication and the IP (or name) of the server that initiates the communication. Creating an authentication mechanism based on the user credentials is a little easy, but I was a little perplexed as to how retrict access based on intellectual property.

I was thinking to create a role that would grant access and then adding a condition based on intellectual property, but when a condition is added, I don't see which of these options in the list of predicate would suit me. Maybe "value of the context item is equal to a string constant"? In this case, what would be the name of the context item?

As I wrote, you can also do the same within your proxy service flow. For example, you can create something like AuthorizationProxy in the front of your proxy service (which routes, running all that). Only AuthorizationProxy could handle the authorization for your. You can watch the SOAP payload there, you can also watch the IP source (inside the $inbound variable), you can have a matrix of complex access involving IP, user name, service operations... Just what you want. But like I said also that it's somehow too late for me, as you are actually allowing everyone access to the OSB technically. I prefer to address security in the first place possible to limit the number of resources available for unauthorized requests.

  • Network error mystery - Windows cannot access \\server\users when you use the netbios name, but works fine when you use the full domain name.

    Hi all:

Mystery - I have a Win 7 work company that cannot access a particular action.  I get the following error-"you are not allowed to access \\server\users.  Contact your network administrator to request access.  However, these users can access these files successfully on other computers, and also if I use the fqdn or the IP instead of the "netbios name server", it connects successfully.

    Environment:

-Workstation and server at the same time in the same AD Windows 2008 r2 domain.

-All users, admin and non admin, cannot access this share when connecting to this computer only.

-ACCESS to the other actions on the same server, as well as actions on other servers.

-The biggest mystery to me - if I type the FQDN, \\server.domain.local\users, it works!  What the?

    I tried:

-Deletion of the domain and add it again, no improvement.

-Check Event Viewer, nothing jumps (not red or yellow).

-Enabled auditing for access to objects on the server, it does not show a failure in the security event log.

-Turn off the firewall of my computer.

-UN-share and re - share the directory.

-Give everyone full control (the fact that it works well with de facto authorities a little full domain name, a candidate little likely, but I have an open mind).

For anyone wishing to offer their 'help' by asking me to make some sort of workaround as re - install windows or turn off netbios or use only of the full domain name here on out or whatever, please Don ' t bother.  I appreciate your help, but I am quite able to reinstall and I'm not interested unique hacks that affect this otherwise network well managed, I'm looking for a solution that will allow me to save time and is a long-term solution.

In my view, that a key point here maybe I can connect successfully using \\server.domain.local\users, but not \\server\users.  Someone at - it some thoughts?

In DNS server of youe, go to the area in question and in the use of select search before Wins wins tab and enter the address of your wins server if you have one. If not, install one.

  • There might be a problem with the configuration of your DOMAIN NAME SERVER

Last week one, I noticed some problems with my internet connection. I have a BSNL broadband connection. I am connected to the internet, and after some time all of a sudden, I'm not able to connect. My modem lights are all on and on my laptop, I see the symbol of 2 computers with a note on it, which means that I'm connected. But still the pages not displayed. When I run Network Diagnostics (I Windown Vista) I get the error message saying: "there could be a problem with the configuration of your DOMAIN NAME server. I turned off the computer and the modem and switch it on after a long time... He would return but loses the connection with the same error message again. What can I do? I tried to reset the modem, also tried the system restore. What can I do? Please help me. I have laptop Dell Insipiron with Windows Vista and I connect wireless.

We do not know how your system should be set up - including the DNS configuration and settings.  I recommend you contact your ISP's technical support group and get help from them in the configuration of your computer (and test lines and modem - the problem could be the modem and not on the computer or it could even be the service provider itself).  It can be something as simple as a typo or a box checked or not checked - I do not know because I do not know their settings (different for each access provider).  Give them a call.  I do so often when I have connection problems, and they are almost always useful, or schedule a service call if they cannot help.  I think it's your best chance to solve this problem.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Where can I find the NetBIOS name or DNS name?

    Separated from this thread.

I have no idea what to do in step 4: network or Internet address , enter the name of the computer on the network that you want to access. This can be the NetBIOS name (example: server1) or DNS name (example: server1.fabrikam.com).

Where can I find the NetBIOS name or DNS name?

And in step 5, they speak the name and the password that you learn to connect to this computer after starting?

How the Windows credentials are on the list at the start?

If you simply click 'Remove Keystone', what are the consequences?

Which is easier said than done only because the network troubleshooting is extremely complex and advanced. This message is obviously from one long discussion somewhere else. In any case, I believe at the time, I tried to browse my 3 PCs via the network icon in Windows Explorer and saw [the PC name] is currently unavailable. Finally, here's what worked for that fix, and it had nothing to do with my conclusion on the in the Internet address or network information, boxes which I never figure it out. Here are the steps:

Open the Control Panel, in the Control Panel search box, type network connections; under network and sharing Center, click view network connections; Here I noticed that only Ethernet was active and Wi-Fi was a red X below; I wriggle on the icon until the check box displayed and checked. What does a menu appear; I clicked on to connect to.

    I hope this helps.

  • I can't view an email... say access denied on this server. Is it VIsta or Norton?

I got an e-mail from a line that store when I try to open it says access denied on this server.  Only on the desktop not on my laptop.

    Can anyone help?

Highlight the message and click file | Save as and save it to the desktop.  Then try to open it and see if you get the same question.  It sounds as if it was Norton.  You can also right on the file on the desktop after I saved it and then go open with and open it with Notepad and allows you to read to some extent.  But Norton and Windows Mail have never gotten along well (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3).

  • The network connectivity status appears as only 'Local' error message ' there may be a problem with your domain name server (DNS) configuration "when trying to diagnose the problem.

    Troubleshooting Internet connectivity

1 answer to the first and second troubleshooting Questions:

First Question of troubleshooting: If the problem is new, what has changed between the time things worked and the time they do not have?

The second issue of Windows troubleshooting: what is the status of virus/malware of the machine? If you think it's clean, what programs (and versions) allows you to determine this?

Make sure that the computer is clean - http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

Many variants of malware will allow a proxy server if you are unable to Internet. Go to control panel > Internet Options > connectivity tab > LAN button. If all is selected in the section Server Proxy, uncheck the box, apply/OK outside.

    2. If nothing has changed and that the computer is clean, what antivirus/security programs are you running? Have AVG 8 or Zone Alarm? These two programs have had updates that caused Internet connectivity problems. I don't recommend either of these programs, but if you want to keep check them on the mftrs.' support websites.

    3. If #2 is not applicable:

    a. unplug the router.
    b. disconnect the modem. (If you have a DOCSIS 3 modem with battery backup, press the Reset button to reset the modem so the lights go out).
    c. wait 60 seconds.
    d. plug the modem (or wait until the reboot is completed) and expect that all the lights are on.
    e. plug the router and wait until all lights are on.

You now have an Internet connection? Otherwise:

    4. connect your computer directly to the cable/DSL modem. You now have an Internet connection? If so, there is a problem with the router. They do not last forever. Replace it.

If there is no Internet when your computer is connected directly to the cable/DSL modem, call your ISP because something is wrong with the cable/DSL modem or your Internet service.

  • IP name-server and dns server

    Hello world

Could someone tell me the difference between the two commands please?

    IP-name server

    (in DHCP pool installation)

    DNS server

I don't understand if I need two of them, or what you do.

    Thank you

    Triet

    Triet,

The name-server ip x.x.x.x is for the "router" to reslove DNS queries.

In the DHCP pool, the x.x.x.x dns server is for the DHCP client to use for DNS queries.

    What you trying to do?

  • PIX 501 to allow access to the ftp server

    Hello

We have a public ip address of the pix 501 and the other, I want to access the ftp server on the internal network from the outside. I tried to configure the PDM by a static nat, which translate to the address of the FTP to the public address, but then none of the stations networks could out - how can I configure it?

I would also like to know what ports should I open on the acl for access to the ftp server.

    Thank you, daguech

Yes, sorry... You must use the unique host for addresses command. The access list is applied to your external interface?

for example, the command would be:

    Access-group acl_out in interface outside

Also, can you connect to the local ftp server behind a firewall?

  • Mac didn't stop after Photoshop to access files on windows server

    Hello world

We have a weird problem when our users access files on our server to windows. They can change the files and everything seems to be fine, but when you try to shut down the mac, the system never end closing, even after waiting until the next morning. Only way to stop this force turned off. Someone at - it an idea, how do I solve the problem?

We have verified that the problem only occurs when you open files directly on the share - local files do not cause this problem. There is also no other apps to access the share.

    Specifications of customers:

    Mac OS 10.10

    Photoshop 2015

To access the files via smb share (smb: / / [Server].) FQDN/Share)

    24 gig RAM

    128 GB Flash drive

    27 "iMac

    Specification of the server:

    Windows Server 2008 R2

NTFS file permissions: full access to the security group

Client is a member of the security group (but not in the same domain as the file server)

So far ideas? Someone has a similar problem?

    Best regards

    Tobias

    Hello

When you try to access the files on the server, MAC launched a security process.

This process could not be top-down.

Please check that the activity monitor.

For the best response you can contact Apple/MAC support.

As Windows uses MAC system MAC OS partition and FAT/NTFS partition

There could be conflict as well.

Also please check if a Windows machine attempts to access Windows Server, the problem still exists.

  • Physical WiFi access on a virtual (Server 2003) computer?

Is it possible to get the host (Windows 7) operating system to give access wifi to a Server 2003 VM hardware?

By this I mean that in the virtual machine, I can choose the wifi spot instead of in the host operating system.  My wifi companies is controlled by Odyssey with a special configuration.  If I can get the wifi on the virtual computer control I can select it there.  My host operating system has not only the wifi software.

    Thank you!

There is really no need to report as it does not and I know because I use both a USB WiFi Ethernet Adapter and or a Modem high speed USB connected directly to the Virtual Machines from time to time.
