Accidentally out Vista

HP Compaq Presario V6700 Edition Vista Home Premium

Writing on behalf of the friend who herself accidentally locked out of the computer.   It now won't start at all - she has a black screen after you have pressed the Power button to turn it on.  Tried to open mode safe mode by pressing F8 - no result, the black screen still.

Someone has ideas how to get this computer operational again?  She received no recovery disk when the computer was purchased again about 14 months ago.

Thank you

It is very useful information - thanks a lot.

Managed to get his computer by doing a hard reset.

  • Anyway I can get for free a Cie from my pc crapped out vista basic and I need to reinstall.

I bought an acer 5315 laptop computer series with windows Vista Home Basic. I have my key ode on the bottom for her. I need to reinstall Vista Home Basic Edition, but have no disc for her. AY idea how I can get it without having to buy new?

    Hello

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact Acer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

    http://us-store.Acer.com/RCD/

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    With an Acer, it's Alt + F10

And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.

See programs > name Acer > then their eRecovery software topics on how to do, how it is made in function.

If you find a reference to it, contact Acer to get tips on how to do these recovery disks.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

    ·           Which type of installation do you have?

    ·           Was this a new installation or a custom installation?

    ·           Did you install it with Vista Home Basic or home premium?

  • Remove vista boot screen

    Hello

I'm planning a check disk to run at reboot, but I couldn't see the activity and results of the operation of check disk because of the vista boot screen.  I never noticed this problem before.  However, I wonder if anyone knows how to disable.

I thought about the gui option not via the msconfig Panel. But if I remember that this simply deletes completely out the screen during the boot process.

    Thank you.

Answer: Disable "no GUI" in the Panel under the msconfig Startup tab.

Apparently, in the activation of vista "no GUI" allows the vista aurora boot / splash screen, thus hiding the start menu, check it out operations on disk and memory diagnostics.

Under xp, which allows 'no GUI' blacked out on the screen and hidden from the above process.  But in Vista, rather than be a screen blacked out, vista boot screen is engaged.

As my question, in some sort 'no GUI' was enabled without my knowledge.  So I could not see the background process during startup.

  • Using Windows Vista and Windows Media Player with Sanyo R227 Internet Radio

I just bought a Sanyo R227 Internet Radio wireless.  He has no problem using my home network wireless and find the Internet gateway and play Internet radio stations.

However, it also has the ability to access and attendance of the media playing on shared Music folders.   The installation instructions are very simple, but again, I have to be able to connect.  (Someone else I know has no problem with XP).  Read the fine print, Sanyo said it is checked with Windows 2000 and Windows XP, but there is no mention of Vista.  When I emailed them, they said that they did not support Vista.  However, I found a few articles to say that they tested it with Vista, just no mention of what they did to make it work.  I don't know that Sanyo is not interested in checking out Vista, because Windows 7 is now available.

I have a Toshiba laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium SP 2 and Windows Media Player Version 11.  Also, I have Symmatic installed Smart Firewall (Norton) and enabled Windows Media Player and Windows Media Player network sharing service. I got Symmatic take possession of my PC and make sure these settings are correct.

I turned on the multimedia file sharing, file sharing and network discovery.  Because my PC is to use the Norton Firewall, Windows Firewall is disabled.  The network type is Public.  Privacy requires the Windows Firewall, which confuses the Norton Firewall.

When I scan to PC on the webradio of Sanyo R227, he never finds my laptop.  I'll try to turn off the Norton Firewall and see what happens, but I don't think that's the problem.

Anyone out there have experience with this device, media player and Vista?

Turn off the Norton Firewall and it worked.  Now I have to talk to Symantec and find a way to make it work with the firewall turned on.

  • Do I need to get all updates to windows on the new VISTA system before moving on to Windows 7?

Hi , I have a brand new 'Pavilion Elite m9300t PC with TV/PVR' always in the zone since the 2008-09-02 (don't ask why, long story). There "Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium (64 bit)" on it.  I bought a software "Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade designed for Windows Vista" (box).  It seems clear that the system accepts the 64-bit Windows Update 7

My question is, when I turn firstly on this machine, I have to spend hours updating the Vista operating system with all the Windows updates until I put in the Windows 7 Upgrade?  Or can I just simply immediately install Windows 7 Premium on the new brand new OS Vista from HP?

I ask because I don't want to spend hours in Vista with Windows Update updates when I have not, before using Windows 7 Upgrade disks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    TIA,-Paul

    Hello:

No, you don't have to do anything other than the upgrade to Vista.  If you are brave, you are better off getting a clean install and wiping out Vista anyway.  If not simply put in the drive of W7, let an automatic upgrade on place and you're ready to go. You will have enough updates W7 to treat once the PC is upgraded to W7.

  • OEM Activation limits?

    Hello

I recently installed Vista) for 2 days. Then I realized that I installed them since a updated disc that has problems with a lot of things, but they were successfully activated. The next day, I accidentally reinstalled Vista again this bad disc (I got confused... Sorry) and they activated.

Now, I found the good drive, checked in a VM to ensure it is correct , and I want to install it.

The problem is that I read on the internet that the OEM Activation keys have a limit on activations.

So, I'll be able to activate this copy, or I arrived at this limit?

, Note 1: Before doing anything, the PC is running Vista, which came preinstalledwith it

Note 2: The key is a key to Toshiba OEM

Thanks in advance for help ;)

    Hello

The product key must belong to this machine, you cannot transfer Licenses OEM of one calculation to the other.

IF it is an OEM product key that is on the COA sticker on the underside of this Toshiba laptop that you reinstalled Vista on, phone Activation may be required.

If it does require phone activation, do not follow Demand of Auto, but brace yourself for a real person explain as to what has been done for purposes of re-setup.

  • Vista Snipping Tool - accidentally deleted from the computer. How can this be restored?

I accidentally deleted the tool cutting on my windows vista computer.  I sent the tool cutting on the desk and I should have created a shortcut on the desktop. I thought I was remove a shortcut and not the actual tool. I looked on the computer of the tool, but it seems to have disappeared completely.  I can't run system restore because it was some time before I realized my mistake and you do not have a date for the restoration. Searched in the downloads of Microsoft but only capture tool is for tablets.  Please help as I really like this tool

    Hi GailWilton,

If you open your Windows Explorer program, go to the C:\windows\System32 folder, you see the file Snippingtool.exe?

If so, you should be able to right click and do a sortcut to your desktop or add a shortcut to the Quick Launch bar

Otherwise, you can try the following steps and check.

    Step 1:

Try refreshing the Snipping Tool installation. This tool is part of the Tablet PC optional components in Windows Vista.

    a. open Control Panel, click Classic view in the task pane.

    b. double-click programs and features.

    c. click on the 'activate Windows features and turn off' in the task pane.

This window may take a few minutes to display.

When the options appear in the list, scroll to the "Tablet PC Optional Components" and remove the check mark for this element.

    d. click OK, leave everything and restart the computer.

Once the computer restarts, go back to control panel and repeat the same procedure.

This time the check box adds the "Tablet PC Optional Components".

This will install these components in the system with a new copy of all the files.

    Step 2:

You also, try to run a SFC scan to check all corrupted files.

You can read the following article to launch the SFC scan:

    Hello

my laptop was working very well until some files were accidentally deleted and now Vista cannot start.
There is a message saying that I need to contact the system administrator or the manufacturer of the pc.

Is there anything you could recommend?
I would appreciate if you could help me find a way to record all of the information contained in hard drives.

If you are not able to boot up the laptop and refuse it to Vista to start then take recovery in hand, insert it and start on this CD from Toshiba.

Then the cell phone should boot from the recovery CD and reinstall the whole OS again.
This should help, but the HARD drive will be formatted.
