  • Re: Satellite Pro A200 - black screen after the BIOS screen

    Hello
I'm new to the forum and have a big problem. So, any help is welcome and appreciated.

My Satellite Pro A200 turns black after the BIOS screen and a black screen with a blinking cursor. Also just as the screen goes black a beep can be heard which shows windows boot.
I can access the toshiba Setup screen but not the installation of security mode.

    Kind regards

    Hello

You wrote that you can access the BIOS, but have you checked if the HARD drive is recognized properly? Perhaps because the computer cannot start HDD isn't recognized then you should check this.

If the HARD drive is recognized, I would try a Toshiba Recovery disk recovery facility. It seems that Windows isn't able to start and if you reinstall the whole system should help get rid me of this. Go to the start menu and select the CD/DVD drive as a boot device.

    Check this box!

  • Acer Aspire V3 - 772G - BIOS setup utility menus have disappeared

Acer Aspire V3 - 772G - BIOS setup utility menus have disappeared

I have install this laptop brand new, pre-installed with Windows 8.1 for my sister-in-law who bought it.  The installation went well BUT the 16 GB USB device I bought such as advised by the literature of Acer to store the recovery partition was not large enough, 14.4 GB physical capacity.  Acer the book says to use a 16 GB or more, so I did.  I naively thought that a USB key which has been marked 16 GB would be appropriate.  Not the case.  I had to buy a bigger but am still waiting for delivery.

So I decided to any HARD drive to save the work I had done, but found only the Acronis Backup and Recovery DVD would not start the image.  I went into the utility configuration and adjusted the start parameters to inherited and modified device priority.  Acronis wouldn't so I did not continue.  I went back into the configuration utility, use F9 to restore the default value and to my astonishment that the DUAL boot option was now gone and Windows startup option was also gone.

This means that £800 this laptop is now unusable.  The installer standalone reconfigured without warning.  Nowhere is there at - it advice or advice do not use the Setup utility when it erases the features that cannot be recovered by using F9 to restore the default configuration.  If this isn't a serious design flaw, I don't know what is.

I am deeply worried because the idea of a BIOS setup utility behave in this way seems so unlikely that I wonder if anyone will believe me.  How are the Setup utility has been designed to self-harm like this?

Your suggested action works!  Thank you very much.  You saved my life.

  • Computer Vista gets to the BIOS screen, then restarts continually.

It's on a Dell Inspiron desktop PC. I was browsing youtube, when I noticed when I clicked on something, he did not. Although the outlines of the buttons flashed as soon as I waved above them. If I clicked on a bookmark, it says that my internet connection is bad. But I was watching youtube, 3 minutes earlier.
I close firefox, then go to the office. I CAN'T RIGHT CLICK! OR LEFT CLICK. On some points, I can click.  And some I can't. I unplug the computer from the wall. Rinse power. Wait 5 minutes. Restarts. Computer gets to the Dell BIOS screen. Will beep once, makes a sound of flickering, light flashes orange and repeats the process forever. I press F12 for the boot menu. Press enter on the SATA hard drive. And it starts fine. But I want to solve this problem, help!

    Hello

You do not have the cold hard first permanently in the boot order?

If you do, try the following steps to find your problem:

  • keyboard does not work when you start. Unable to get to the bios screen.

When I reboot to get to the bios screen my keyboard does become functional until windows load. I don't remember what is a problem in the past, but since I disconnected everything recently I was wondering if it happens to be a USB port which remains hot during startup.  I have a Gigabyte motherboard.

Thanks for all the help.  I found a port that remained hot during startup.  Not an easy feat because there are 6 USB ports on my MB.  Then after may restart to finally find, I remembered that I have also 2 USB ports on my Dell monitor that remain hot even when the computer is off.  A lesson I will never forget.
