  You do not add a printer driver for printers and Scanners.  You add the printer itself.

The only way I found to scan is to right click on the HP Officejet 6700, and then click Run as administrator. Which takes me to the HP printer Assistant I can open the scan dialog box.

  Navigate to C:\Program Files (x 86) \HP\HP Officejet 6700\bin

  Right click on hpscan.exe and click on "Pin to Start", now you should be able to run the scan directly.

• When I click to open thunderbird but the e-mail window does not appear until the icon shows the app closed, how to fix this?

  Thanks for the reply... still not sure what happened, but I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling bird t. Everything is back to normal after that. So your solution can work, but I don't have the chance to try it. My solution, but is not ideal, was effective and the problem was solved.
